  • looks like the chi sao in this video helps you move - though sifu wang will slap you! -

    :)

  • We're taught in Sweden to always keep our heads far away from our opponents, since we don't have the boxer-forearm-guard.. do you not use this?

  • Nice! Good structure both of you! It's cool to see a direct student of WSL engaged in Chi Sau, you can really see the intent behind Sifu Wang's movements towards your center-line. Love this stuff!!

  • Very ncie video!

  • Brilliant to see a master of the Wong Shun Leung lineage. Master Leung was always more of a fighter than nearly all of Grandmaster Ip Man's students and I can see this in Master Wang's approach too. Interesting when you compare it to the cheerful and cheeky (typical HK humour) approach of Grandmaster Leung Ting for example. When I was young, my master always talked about how Master Wong described Grandmaster Leung as being more a scholar than a fighter. Everyone trains with a different focus.

  • I'm so jealous of you Jaiharman. :-)

I have to practice by myself because there are no Wingchun folks here. Plus I have six children so I don't get out much :-).

I hope you're hanging on to every word and every touch your sifu gives you. It's pure gold I tell you. If I get to be even half as good as him I'll count myself fortunate. Peace.

  • Bending & leaning forwards causes change in balance points allowing opp to pull you down easier. It also brings your head closer to them, allowing them to punch you easier(&harder to absorb without damages).WC is designed for Safest entry. Most wc are skipping safe/skilled entry, which is why they get clocked often.Footwork here shows poor connection from upper body to lower body (delays) = Poor Rooting/Stability. Jai: To learn WC well, start sparring w/ fighters 2x your mass & highly skilled.

  • 7years of training under grados and I never touched hands with him this way. I guess that makes me a Guru...

  • This is a Chi Sau (chi shou) exercise called Lap Sau (la shou) it is a very normal excersis that every student of Wing Chun (ving tsun) should practice as it is an integral part of training, most parts are from the first form Si Lim Tau (xiao nian tou) so the next step is Chum Kiu (xun qiao) then Dan Chi Sau followed by this exercise. If you dont learn this then you should not be progressing further than Dan Chi Sau. Thanx for the interest.

  • @jaiharman1 Yo fellow WSL WC brother nice work strong waist man, WSLVT all the way BABY :P!!! Shawn Obasi learned from Sifu Grados which follows Sifu Austin Goh right? they seem to focus on trapping hands, comboing techniques and I think they even have Dai Nim Tau (Da Nian Tou)...just weird that they never do Juen Ma + Lap Sao. Shawn Im ur fan in the ring! DIE A WING CHUN MAN :P maybe u called the lap sau drill differently in ur school? just curious tatz all. :P

  • Shawn 1rst of all your type of body doesnt necessarily need all this type of exercise. 2nd this is a routine to the lap sao move , so common that you really dont need to have your sifu to do it with.

By the way poorly executed here cause they are on head shot distance most of the time.

  • @sealthedealobasi sifu grados good

  • Could you explain me what is the purpose of doing a lap sau in response to another lap sau ? I have to admit, I don't know this drill, and I don't understand its importance.

  • @Nikoo033 In the WSL family, our interpretation of Bong Sau is a 'helping hand' or a 'failed hit' or if hands are down then we use bong sau to create 'a bridge'. The opponent line of energy maybe stronger than ours, so we apply the bong sau motion through it entire action so we can succesfully deflect their attack. As we don't want to stay in the final bong sau position for long, we practice lap sau drill as it enables us to get out of the bong sau position and attack back quickly!

  • he was featured in bbc isnt he?

  • he has been featured all around the world for his amazing skills, he will be doing a UK tour in September 2009 - October 2009. Private message me if you are interested in taking part

  • Dragon prawn boxing in old Yang taijiquan allows for relaxation which helps the chi flow smoothly, as well as allowing a shorter fighter to extend his arms out to his taller opponent yet still maintain a fair distance with his body. Just because you see something you didn't learn doesn't make it wrong. Often a teacher will hold out on advanced techniques, including postural subtleties. I guarantee we all have bad habits to correct, that's why we train, that's we we watch videos and learn.

  • Taijiquan focuses heavily on posture, and at an advanced stage of old Yang style the dragon prawn boxing is learned, which a much more rounded back than the so-called 'bad posture' Wang demonstrates here. Realize that he is a master and he does know what he's doing. There is never any 1 correct method or posture, or there'd only be one martial art in the world. They are all effective for different people and different reasons, situations, end results, etc.

  • Why is he back fisting when he is doing lop soa. He is basically blocking himself the whole time. He is bent forward.

  • I worked with Wang Shifu in Beijing too, his teaching was great for me. Jai, I think you're getting better bro, I'm gonna have to come see this summer!

  • If you are the sifu umm.... Just by seeing what you do in public tells me you have bad habits,. And then if you play hands with me I know your story.

up-rooting " Loy Lau Hui Sung " is the way I go .

I love to learn more but not someones bad habits.

Even Ip-man did not play with all his students due to geting bad habits,or my own sifu.

  • Stopping in one place giving up to your partner is not good , it's not good holding back punches " bad habit. But if you have good control you can A:control them and not go back a forth ,get it over with.I know it's for fun ,this fun can give you habits. try using jung tec-angling off then Dim Jermor Po Pi with control. Ha ! I wish I can Toy Ma all day long- but one needs go to beyond that .

  • freestyle vingtsun chi shou(chi sau) ever if it"s that one needs to show good posture and from my perspective training in chi sau should go with one to two role then with forward Ging within 15 sec he/she should be up-rooted " Loy Lau Hui Sung " what I see is to-much time wasted. Even for fun .

  • Very good work.

  • thank you for your comment. I watched a couple of your videos and..... just WOW, that kid of yours is going to go far. I started martial arts at 6 years old and I will teach my child young too.

  • if you are that superior, id like to see a video from you. i think it has a lot to do with wingchun, the movements remind me of wing chun a lot.

  • Didn't say i was superior, part of my comment was a bit stupid, so apologies for that.I just saw a couple of your comments deriding other vids and it annoyed me abit. I still stick to what I said about the elbows.I'll see if I can get something up for you. Your sparring one was pretty good, mbe here ur crouching becuase ur Sifu is shorter.

  • As it says in the description, this is just freestyle vingtsun chi shou(chi sau) we are not trying to kill each other just demonstrating the la shou(lap sau) and bong shou (bong sau) techniques with footwork and body placements.

  • Awesome bro! I thought that was the same Sifu who was on the Human Weapon episode, he's really skilled. Your posture/structure/stance's are very correct, you are privileged to learn so closely from such a skilled Sifu.

  • It is important to know what you are talking about, it is also important to note that my shifu is 5 ft 4 and I'm 6 ft. When you train in wing chun you should use someone the same height to practice chi shou(chi sau) unfortunately everyone had gone home due to the Olympics in Beijing and it was just me and my shifu. If you are to fight or spar then this isn't a problem but training is. Also remember your comments remark on you as a person, so keep in mind YOUR opinion is not fact. good day Sir

  • i really want to learn wing chung but there are none around my area do you have any tips on how i can learn and be as good as your shifu ?

  • wingchuncrtb, I saw your videos and I was not impressed. You are not using correct posture so it is obvious that you don't know what correct posture is. In your Bil Jee video your shoulders are completely not square and the axis you're turning on is incorrect as well. One thing that was good is your blabber-mouth form, you must exercise your jaw quite a bit.

  • lol then u dunno shit, he's famous in china dude

  • @wingchuncrtb

    Hum...I agree,

Just by the way you post your comments,

it truly shows the type of person you are and your knowledge,

Also i question your grammar, On the internet there is something called spell check, If you are to at least criticise something,

Why not check your spelling? A martial artist is not only one that can fight, skills, body condition, it goes much further than that..

It is a test of becoming a better person...Youxia

  • PERFECT SKILLS
