  • I "died" in 96', on the operating table. docs brought me back (i think). i've always had a scary suspicion that i'm trapped in some goddamn jacob's ladder scenario. i hope this ends soon.

  • @pdelabrue dream on.

  • I think that Louie reacted so strongly in the hospital because as Jacob's guardian angel he could see the hellish version Jacob had just went through.

  • The only "person" in the movie who knew what was really happening to Jacob.

  • "The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of your life; your memories, your attachments. They burn 'em all away. But they're not punishing you, he said. They're freeing your soul. ... If you're frightened of dying and holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth"

  • 4:00 best quote ever!!!!!

  • the angel is actaully right on what he says...

i saw this movie once scared the shit outta me, but it's fucked up what the army put in their food and what made em kill each other but it's funny cuz this whole time he's in limbo watching his whole life flash be4 his eyes....

very good movie in deed, i wish i have a guardian angel watching over me

  • @2236hunk We all have one my friend. They're just waiting for the right moment to help you in your time of greatest need.

  • @2236hunk Like Jacob

  • @AirBorne407Trooper Movies are often inspired by real-life, watch Deer Hunter and tell me it's just a movie. Tho i didn't cry watching this movie :)

  • You can really tell how great of an actor Tim Robbins is from his reactions in this movie, very real and human.

  • haha that dream on did scare the hell outta me hahaa

  • I felt really bad for him when he began crying after hearing the "dream on" voice. He just looked so helpless and scared. I can't bring myself to watch that part anymore simply because it breaks my heart to see the look on his face.

  • Not many movies bring me to tears, but the end of this one, with his son leading him up the stairs, definitely gets me choked up.

  • ADIO

  • Being a catholic, what he is describing sounds more like purgatory. This one of my favorite movies and favorite scenes of all time.

  • @macroburst1 no not at all, the meaning of that quote is far, far deeper then basic, infantile religious concepts like purgatory

Its about holding on, living in the past and fear of change, ultimately its about conquering fear itself, or shifting from fear into love

  • From what i understand Jacobs Ladder is just one BIG ASS Bad High. cause god knows i have been there! HORRIBLE fucking time when your on a bad high. or Bum Trip as we called em back in the 60s :O

  • I wish I had a chiropractor like him.

  • I love the gentle way Louis (Danny Aiello) talks to Jacob, recites Meister Eckhart. I just made me cry listening to it.

  • @Seattlecarnut

He really does portray a Guardian Angel very well :-)

  • @andrewtheman19 He sure does. I've seen movies featuring Danny Aiello, and he's mostly tough guys, bullies. It's nice to see him play gentle guy now and then. It's not often that a movie makes me cry, or a scene from a movie makes me cry like this.

  • @andrewtheman19 That he does.

  • Beautiful scene from anotherwise dark, disturbing movie.

  • Lovely scene. Explains the entire film beautifully.

  • can someone please post the first scene with Danny Aiello too, seriously they are both so relaxing they help with my insomnia!

  • This is my favourite part of the movie. The high point in an otherwise dark, disturbing movie. By the time Louis (Danny Aiello) finished the line by Eckhart, I literally broke down crying.

  • @Seattlecarnut cunt

  • @greeniem youre a fucking idiot.

  • @EddySwass don't be such an internet warrior, stud. I might piss my E- pants.

  • @greeniem Im sure you would.

  • i loved these secnes they were so relaxing with the score, and you felt Jacob was safe

  • @METALmARiOKID91 I agree!

  • "Watch your toes, Jake."

    haha!

  • FANTASTIC SCENE selection!!! Awesome! This is so so so so so awesome!!!!

  • Love this part of the movie.

  • That "dream on" voice was disturbing. And you felt bad for Jacob because that voice was only telling him that he was still in Hell and was hallucinating.

  • meister eckhart

  • when he said dream on i wasnt expecting it scared the shit outa me cuz the sound was high :P

  • Drean on ,, Pain :S

  • This is the part of the movie that I've always remembered. i love the quote from the chiropractor. Thank you for posting this.

  • one of the most moving and chilling movies i ever seen. The guardian angel is the only constant person in the movie. The angels and demons speech kinda pieced everything together in the end..I kinda realized what was going on at that point(first time around)

  • dream on..

  • I'm pretty sure this movie is about the drugs the soldiers got in Vietnam, and this is all a hallucination before he dies.

  • how does this guy have 4 negative feedbacks? that's exactly that the movie is about.

  • @erdemhasan: I didn't give a thumbs down, but I think that he kinda oversimplified it. I don't think it's merely a collection of random drug induced hallucinations. Even if you discard a religious/spiritual interpretation, it still digs deep into the human mind and deals with things like terror, hope, and death. The focus is not on the use of drugs in Vietnam(which blackskater probably knows, but that's not quite how it's written).

  • spot on dude

  • i love that music in the back ground when jacob stands up

  • Sorry to burst your ignorant bubbles... But there is NO SUCH THING AS CHIROPRACTIC MEDICINE!!! It's just chiropractic and it works!

  • But there are alot of chiropractic quacks.

The nuts that think chiropractic care helps every thing from depression to colds to sinus infections.

Now that I think of it, screw chiropractic care.... go see a physical therapist, at least they have legit methods.

  • I do enjoy my horror movies, but these scenes with Sarah and Louis have always stood out in my mind. I love how they bring him back from the brink of insanity and despair and lead him on the road to hope.

  • A crock? This is what we do. We help our patients by our skill and the compassion we show. We are the true healers. We listen and we offer constructive life advice. A crock? Please. The scene was an example of what goes on in my office every day. People hurt and we help. A crock? I think not.

  • agreed

  • Hey dude... I'm going to assume you've seen the movie here but unfortunately, the 'Chiropractor' doesn't fix anything. The whole movie is a hallucination, and even if it wasn't... it's still a movie. Hollywood is good like that: everything works in Hollywood.

  • Excellent scene. Thanks for putting this up here. I haven't seen the film but the idea of rescuing Jacob from the horrors of modern medical philosophy resonates with me deeply.
