What kind of Protestants celebrate the Catholic dark ages that Luther & Calvin revolted against?

Two big misconceptions here:

1. The "Dark Ages" is a term coined by Renaissance humanists who preferred the paganism of Greece and Rome.

2. Luther and Calvin were not Revolutionaries. They were Reformers. They wanted to reform Christianity to the theology of the Bible and Church Fathers -- especially on the doctrine of salvation by grace alone. They did not believe in throwing out everything the Catholic Church taught.

I am muslim but have cried many nights over the proposed destruction of the family unit when I think of what the many generations after me will be facing. Didn't Rome fall because of the disregard of education and the inability to maintain the aqueducts and roads? The rise in the dark ages directly and "coincidentally" correlates with the rise of Christianity.

Isn't the guy in the video the one with the false sense of entitlement to kill witches and gay's? Whoever said that gays and witches should be executed deserved to have his skull cracked open where wild animals eat his brains, along with anyone whom agrees with him.

The term "dark ages" refers to the Christian age. It was a term invented by Renaissance humanists who preferred the classical age.

Ironically none of the classical writings would have survived were it not for Christians.

While the literature of most civilizations has been lost, Christianity has preserved much of western writing because of the work of monks during the so-called "dark ages."

In most cultures the literature and language of one culture disappears once it is conquered or changes.

I find it suspicious that these guys never utter a word about the huge corporations that are the real power brokers on this earth.

When the US government falls, and the corporations take over then he will see what totalitarian rule really looks like.

These guys are nothing but traitors to this country...the very country that allows him his freedom to speak like this.

The only countries that allow free speech are those that have or once had a Christian ethic.

The idea is that if we allow a competition in the market place of ideas, Christianity has and always will win out.

That is why free speech is suppressed in Islamic and atheistic countries.

Oh please, the only countries that allow free speech are those that have a separation between the secular gov't and the religious dogmatists who would, at the drop of a hat, impose a theocracy. The question is, whose brand of christianity would seize power? mormons? lutherans? muslims? This guys religion? There can only be one dogma, the rest will convert, be marginalized, or perish. The power hungry will always fill the power vacuum.

This is where you have it backwards. Seizing political power and imposing "change" from the top-down is what liberals do.

Rushdoony's Christian Reconstruction stands for godly, peaceful change from the ground-up through conversion of individuals over a long period of time until we finally see social reformation of local institutions.

Christian Reconstruction stands AGAINST strong centralized federal power.

When there is strong individual self-government, there will be no vacuum to fill.

You have missed the central theme of this message and put your own spin on it:

Rushdoony says it here: "The Christian theonomic society will only come about as each man governs himself under God and governs his particular sphere."

CR is a strategy of individual regeneration and reformation -- not political revolution.

North and Rushdoony don't always agree. I disagree with the statement of "denying liberty" -- this is not CR.

But even here he is describing Reconstruction from the ground -up! This is not about seizing control of political power and legislating from above.

A nation that is predominantly Christians would prefer a Christian social, political and religious order. Obviously.

Now we have government schools that often forbid even the mention of the Bible. So there is never any neutrality.

OK then, let's do a thought experiment. Let's say the Mormons decided to do what the RC's want to do; they slowly but surely take over the lower rungs of society, including the schools your kids go to, they slowly turn your kids against your faith, they slowly overturn laws that protect your right to practice your religion because they're religion is OBVIOUSLY the one true religion, etc etc....how would you feel?

Look at it this way. In early America Protestant Christians were influential in politics, education, business, etc. They were not a MONOPOLY. But were the dominant force.

When the Jews began to flee Europe to come to America, they found new York City much more hospitable to their religion than any country in the world -- including Latin America.

They came because they knew an evangelical culture offered the most freedom.

The truth is, you religion fan boys don't know how good you've got it and you should just enjoy the fact that you live in a free country that hasn't made a single move to OPPRESS your religion. You see, keeping religion OUT of the government and the schools is PROTECTING your particular religion from all the other religions who are convinced that YOUR religion is BLASPHEMY.

Nonsense.

CR stands for a godly separation of Church and State. One should not interfere with another. But the laws of the land ought to be based on biblical morality -- which they are with a number of notable exceptions we are working to reverse.

We are also not trying to Reconstruct the federal government funded schools. Schools should be independent, private, church or home schools.

We also stand for a separation of SCHOOL and State.

You remind me of the muslims who say "oh we're a religion of peace" when they are talking to the infedels, but turn around and preach world domination when they are talking amongst themselves.

Liberals like myself just want a world where everyone can do there own thing (thus the term...liberal) so you (and me) don't have to worry about some imam or preacher pronouncing me (or you) a heretic and ruining our day.

A secular govt is the only way to do that.

Granted the comments on this video are over 6 months old I just wanted to say that there is nothing wrong with peaceful spread of information about religion. Physical force/blackmailing is what should present a problem.
