I love the way this gig is shot and staged. The bluish white light that floods the stage and the diamond shaped lights behind them. And bits in black and white. It all adds to the performance. Brilliant band cant wait for the next album.
@pasoktsis Hahahaha, you're calling them posers when the music you listen to involves getting dressed like a slut going to a funeral and screaming about having the worst life you can imagine when really they've had a pretty good life? Right.
@pasoktsis Stop acting like a jerk because you're too dumb and boring to only stick to one genre while most people who listen to qotsa and TCV etc. is generally more open to and more evolved in their music.
DAMN they rock so hard ha ha but it would be way cooler if they had Kyle Gass as the other guitarist... it wouldn't be a super band it ould be an EPIC-BAND!!! ha ha
@sharty5000 read in guitar world that it was josh wrote all of it with some help from john, who provided crazy effects. dave was away for the release of the foo fighters greatest hits having recorded drums to it previously.
You can see Jonsie looking down to his pedals, sure it's a pedal keyboard (like those on church organs, only with different sounds), he's stepping on it to make those weird sounds.
Check out Dave's crazy mic stand. Like qotsa, the mic stands are actually DW cymbal stands. It's a good idea to use cymbal stands for mics because of the durability factor alone. Anyone who's ever gigged in a band knows how much it sucks when the 'clutch' of the mic stand gets worn out and it won't stay in position; guess you wouldn't need to worry about that problem when using cymbal stands.
@VirusMan254 - I see four individuals and one of them is Alain Johannes. He is a musical genius and makes a huge impression on this bands live performances. Limitless tracks can be added in the studio. Live for the most part is the real deal. Can you imagine what these songs would sound like live without Alain? He's as talented as anyone on that stage. He can do it all.
@ApplianceOperator Heh, you make me laugh. I was referring to the actual band, not the live band (etc, Alain). Officially, Josh Hommes, John Paul Jones, and Dave Grohl are the official band, hence forth I call them Cream. Live band is a different matter--I guess I can see your misunderstanding.
@VirusMan254 - I like the live version of TCV better than the studio version. The record to me sounds over produced. The Cream records didn't. This live concert on the other hand is amazing! About as good as it gets. And a big reason for that is Alain. That was my point. I guess I just would like to see him get more recognition for his extraordinary contribution. Glad I could make you laugh. That's worth something. Take care.
@ApplianceOperator Meh, music is music to me. Produced or overproduced. I don't doubt your judgement, they do probably owe most of what they have to Alain. But in the end, music is music--as long as it sounds like the song, I'll listen to it.
BTW, wasn't Alain helping with Queens of the stone age as well? Explains why he's here helping Josh as well.
@VirusMan254 i see your point, i also like alain johannes, but honestly there is not a huge differnece between the live versions and the studio versions. he is not as genius as you consider him to be, i think. no offens^^
@ApplianceOperator I agree with the Johannes comments, But as i understand it he'd prefer not to have the spotlight, he just wants to play apparently. I dont know fo sho, but I imagine Alain had a lot of input on the albums recording and probably a little input on the production as he and Natasha Snider were Highly sort after producers !!!
@Mattsass8 No, but what else where you talking about then? I mean, I guess you're right, he may (we dont really know) not be part of the band, but if you're not talking about albums (what I meant by records), then what else are you talking about?
@Mattsass8 if hes not part of the band, he wouldn't be there on the stage with them :-) so you say if u dont make the music you're not part of the band? then Robert Trujillo is not part of metallica for example? thats just bullshit :)
@NuclearGuru350 its because he takes qotsa very seriously and them crooked vultures not so. its really just the sound of a very talented person having fun :)
