this is just blatant propaganda. they didn't give you any facts or references. just planted a false idea in your head. as for who pays... we already pay for internet service, etc WILLINGLY because we want it. if net neutrality goes down we will pay. we'll have to pay for all the additional services we normally access for free right now. want to access facebook or wikipedia? that'll be $10 please
If you are so worried about these companies, why haven't they gone and done these horrible things to the Internet already? Net Neutrality sounds like a bunch of government BS to me.
what they don't seem to get here is that everybody who cares or even knows what net neutrality is gets there information from the internet and likely did not see or pay attention to this ad. so i guess this is for the others who still watch the news don't know about net neutrality and therefor is not affected by the debate at all. btw these "people" are retards for bashing themselves in there own ad.
"multi billion dollar silicone valley tech companies"
What!!!???
What happened to individualism and self responsibility?
If you don't like the price of something or the company don't buy it!!!!
Companies are successful because you give them your money in exchange for their product or service!!! Wake Up!!! Please for you, your children and future generations.
@TheSGM3 everyone learn radio technology right away, how to build it , how to send data streams on the radio waves, please its important if the internet is going to be censored by the gov! make the real internet on radio carrier waves, not land lines and host networks which can censor what you want to learn!!
@snoglydox obviously there is a different way to transmit the info to make it like the internet, you can use radio waves as a internet, you just need a differnet protocol to handle the information, it already exist, there was a basic teletype dating back into the 50s, so you are wrong, they sent printed picture information and letters which is a huge part of the internet, video could be sent on a few carrier frequencies and be very fast. you have to think outside series data streams.
@boxa888 There are no words in my statement that say data cannot be sent through airwaves; we do it now, but it is not the backbone. I am referring to the mass amount of data; fiber optics is the best medium at this time to handle this, and is the reason the money is spent in this direction.
@snoglydox but these systems are run through cut offs, places where someone can turn off the information or censor the information, china does it well already, this is where things are ,information can be run through servers that are able to block web addresses from access allowing the destruction of freedom of speech and press on the internet, this is the same infrastructure they are implanting in austrailia and people are getting mad there.net nutrality allows the same access speeds and freedom
@boxa888 No you are acting google-stupid; you are looking up information on the internet, in an attempt to impress. There is not enough airwave space to handle all the data transfer…especially in a “router less’ environment although new technologies are born every day, there are still limitations.
@snoglydox i didnt just mean radio waves in the lower frequencies, i meant radio in general, sorry including microwaves transmission as well as earth transmissions like a wire. there is a way to make the total free internet, nature allows for this, the universe allows for this, america is about freedom of press and freedom of speech, the internet is both, and has to be protected if call ourselves americans. if the gov is going to violate the constitution, they are commiting treason.
@snoglydox comcast already violated net nutrality by censoring competitor information and web sites about 4 years ago, i believe they were told not to do this, but this is why radio access points are more important to a free infrastructure, just like the teletype radio systems(obviously upgraded),tesla made a very brilliant system 100 years ago, "removal of router",which is the parts that are able to be censored, the radio ip addresses can be infinite allowing the freeing up of space and privacy
I'm just worried that older people that might not be so technologicaly inclined, as to understand the issues about net neutrality, and also hardcore conservatives will eat this garbage up.
This made me laugh so hard, I'm so glad someone made it! I checked their website and they honestly don't deny that they made this commercial. In fact, it's mirrored on their site, lol. This video is like, the proof that they're planning to abuse us by degrading our connections arbitrarily.
Holy Fucking SHIT. We have officially hit the point of no return. These corporate sacks of shit aren't even trying to hide it anymore. Look outside your window. Right now. Enjoy the net as it is now people because it is going to be very different in just a few years. Would you like our Gaming Complete Package for just $10 extra?
This is the most openly dishonest ad I've ever seen. If you know anything about the issue, you know that that they're lying to you,. The coverage is spotty, the service horrible, and they treat their Linux customers like shit.
The fact that the National Cable & Telecommunications Association doesn't understand what Net Neutrality means should tell us something about our ISPs...They're not intelligent
Internet 2 is going to COMPLETELY kill off ANY voice you have on the internet. It is going to make the website creators pay exorbitant amounts just to have a website... and that website will be heavily restricted.... the ISP could at any time for any reason remove content from your website. Furthermore the "free" internet given to you by governments is going to contain an agreement that you must accept that says you give up rights by using their service. Net Neutrality works, keep it alive.
What a whole load of shit net nurality rules, and what do you mean net nurality is bad for consumers, these bastards want internet 2 and on internet 2 you PAY, to capitalist companies, capitalism is were YOU are ENSLAVED.
yes you get payed money but you give that money back (tax, debt, lones ect:)
so you have to keep on working for these companies.
One step closer to an Orwellian society. Clearly the only thing at stake here is Silicon Valley's profits. Clearly. The framer's of the constitution would have been proud. But who cares about that old piece of scratch board anyway. The internet, and the power that large conglomerates wield were not around in the 1700's, but you can be sure that if they were, the first amendment would restrict THEIR undue influence on the democratic NEUTRAL INTERNET. mother fuckers.
Without net neutrality, telecom monopolies like Comcast will charge us higher rates for using the bandwidth we already pay for, unless the sites we go to are already making them money, or, worse, agree with their politics.
We need a leader with some balls to stand up to these criminals and make the internet free for everyone once and for all. Why would anyone want telecom companies to control free speech and sell it back to us, BY THE KILOBYTE!
BULLSHIT! Net neutrality is the only thing preventing Comcast and the other telecom giants from telling us what we can and cannot do on THEIR internet.
Without net neutrality, the internet will be like them being able to tell us that we have to wait to make a 911 call because they are busying the lines for their sex chat service.

ahahaha this is so ridiculously blatant, they even show who paid for the ad at the end and surprise surprise, it's the carriers who would be (arguably) adversely affected by net neutrality!
too bad tons of idiots will buy into this faux-populism
it sucks that NN is made a political issue because whether youre are dem/rep, lib/conserv, you should NEVER support the abolistion of NN... thats like getting rid of traffic laws because some pople pay more money for there car5s there fore deserve to drive them how they want.
ffs the ppl support the abolition of NN are the same who once took advantage of it starting out.
Last but not least as a vital point for those who still think this means "Freedom" for the average person: There is nothing stopping an organization on one side or the other of the political spectrum, like the Swift Boat assholes, from paying boat loads of campaign money to throttle opposition sites while giving priority access to their own. If you remove Net Neutrality, you literally give parties control over the media in an insidious way.
I love all the comments where people are angry about this, how could the companies lie like this, etc. Wake up. This is America. Big business looks out for big business, and they'll crush you if you stand in their way. This is how it is, and this is how its always been. Conservative Republicans endorse and own this system, Libertarians are ignorant about it or don't care, and Democrats will only meekly "regulate" a problem that requires a full-blown fucking revolution to truly deal with.
I mean what sort of idiot falls for an ad that says preventing ISPs from imposing hidden costs for differential service = OBAMA IS TRYING TO MAKE YOU PAY HIDDEN COSTS FOR DIFFERENTIAL SERVICES.
This is about as mental case as the idiots who think Obama is trying to abolish medicare. Its 'magical opposite world ' thinking.
I dont think the republicans quite understand what is going on. There is currently no regulation, government nor private regulation, on the Internet. Passing a bill isn't regulating the Internet, it's preventing ISPs from regulating the Internet.
If I wanted to access google, and MSN is my ISP, without net neutrality, MSN could block traffic to google. For many, there is no choice but have 1 ISP in their area. That means, your ISP could block youtube unless pay more to access it.
As Maphysto says, they know PRECISELY what's going on, they just know how to spin it so their base will clamor on the side of the corporations, against their own interest.
The current GOP tactic for everything is to completely lie, say what they want to is the reverse of what they want to do, and watch how many fools buy it. It worked for medicare and I fear it'll work on the internet.
Net Neutrality protects small business. Passing bills denying net neutrality will mean a socialist government control of the internet via their corporate sponsorships. Youtube, for instance, will be throttled and shut down if net neutrality is not passed.
Not exactly. Youtube will be throttled unless you pay an increased fee at your ISP for "top tier" access, which will give you better connections to Youtube. Sides like Hulu and Netflix though, they'd be history - they're competitors to the cable companies.
What a load of crap! "The evil silicon valley corporations", "so liberal". "MAMA MAKE THEM STOP!"
Did the NCTA consider us to be STUPID? (well, completely stupid. I don't about a lot of people, but still)
I feel like this commerical was like having the oil industry tell me how environmental activists are making billions of dollars on saving the environment from their drilling and pollution. If saving the environment is wrong, I don't want to be right.
Yeah, net neutrality is a scheme from your ISP to scam you out of YOUR HARD-EARNED DOLLARS. That's why this ad was created by an association of those very companies. To foil their own scheme.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
"NET NEUTRALITY FOREVER YOU DICTATOR FUCKING FUCKS." Great arguement.
Anyway, Net Neutrality is a form of government regulation. Totalitarianism comes when people are told that the real freedom is when the government control can "free" them from their problems. A truly free Internet would not have this regulation. Net Neutrality is censorship.
I understand his frustration. You have it backwards. We agree with your intention, but you are blaming the wrong guys. Net Neutrality is about control by the people.
fuck this shit, fucking anti free speech commercial bull shit fucking makes me wana rip my hair out. sorry for the language. but it emphasizes my words. NET NEUTRALITY FOREVER YOU DICTATOR FUCKING FUCKS.
you are right, I am all talk. i talk to every one about net neutrality, i spread the word. what do you do? probably check up on youtube once in a while and then sit on the couch and do nothing.
Talking about it and spreading the word don't work anymore. People got to be more active then talk the talk. Action is required but Congress or the House will not listen. So therefore there is nothing anyone nor you can do to make a difference.
Ron Paul has addressed this issue. look up Campaign for Liberty. obviously you are left wing. stop trying to demotivate us right wingers. you will fail.
"I drink alot. only hard liquor. So if I post a nasty remark, you know that Im drunk. usually dont post nasties when im sober. " So I'm speaking to a drunk then. It's obvious I am wasting my time with you. Good Bye, I don't speak to Rubbish fools such as you.
lol you have to bring irrelevant facts to the table. cant think of anything else important to say? but thank you for giving up an argument you cant win.
Even if they believe the American public process intelligence, no one will do anything to stop them. Why? People such as you are too busy concerned about their own self and not others. They know you wont fight back but instead use time unproductively to produce inept videos such as "Coming Out", "Discover" and etc. Therefore you or anyone else pose no threat. It will be best if you have proposed an action plan. Otherwise, shut up.
This is an insult to the public's intelligence. I suggest not only posting "pro Net Neutrality clips" but "tagging" them with every imaginary interest so they will be pulled up everywhere on YouTube.
This video actually makes me very upset. I'm doing a report on Net Neutrality for one of my college classes and I've studied the pro neutrality side, and this is one first sources of the anti neutrality information that I've found.
This video says NOTHING about why it's bad. The ISPs seems to have just shifted the aggression that should be directed at them toward tech. This is BS if you ask me.
After I finish this assignment I will make a well-informed video that you can check out on here.
Being that this is the best spin advertisers can pull together against net neutrality should say something.
Don't listen to those activists and their Mumbo Jumbo. They're bad! Net neutrality is just confusing bad stuff that you don't need to understand.
They're doing nothing more than gently saying don't confuse yourself, do as we say. If people buy into this, then we have a really sad population. I can't possibly imagine a worse commercial, even in theory, as far as effectiveness is concerned
If you are serous about putting a stop to this shit Boycott their services. internet, cable, & telephone. Find alternatives even if that means having to deal with Dial up for a Few months. Use other providers. Find out their stance on Net Neutrality before dealing with them. Make sure they know You will not deal with them If they are for corporate control over the internet.

I thought I just saw you associate the internet as the same kind of basic necessity as water. I double dare with icing on top to try going as long without water as you can the internet.
you dont quite understand. the internet is the sign that free speech does still indeed exist. internet is the last hope for true freedom in this country. the large greedy corporations take the most used servie of the generation and restrict it. they did it with tv, they did it with radio, theyre even doing it with water now as a matter of fact. shouldnt water be free? i mean the companies dont make it, why should they charge people for it
I do quite understand. I'm all for Net Neutrality, but it's still a bad comparison, because a lack of one will inconvenience you, a lack of the other will kill you. Unless of course, you wanted to be hyperbolic.
freedom is hyperbolic. we dont need it to survive, but we crave it because it makes us happy. the 3 unalienable rights. without freedom, youre miserable
it is indeed. i wish people would stop listening to idiot box and research the truth about things on the modern day's poor man university, the internet.
I found the group responsible for this ad. Flood their server. It will cost them a ton of money and will make it harder for them to take away the internet from us along with our freedom of speech. They also proudly display a NeoCon layout too. I emailed them and gave them a piece of my mind and so should you. The internet is a free market already don't let anyone make new laws for it.
I hope this is a joke. If not find out who made this video and f!@#ing kill them. No seriously do it for the foundation of America. I don't watch network tv for this reason. But shit are we really going to give up our freedom of speech that easily. Wake up Sheeple.
They are correct. the net neutrality laws are being writting by the big telco lobbyists. How neutral is that? BTW anytime you get the government involve how on earth does it make the internet free?
this works on all the baby boomers / people over the age of 40 / fox news viewers / bush supporters. since the tv told them, they will think thats the truth
The best way to combat the mainstream media from taking over the Internet is to buy music/movies/magazines/newspapers only from alternative media like Thinkfilm, Lionsgate, Weinstein etc. and sell/trade any DVDs and CDs you have from the big 6 media conglomerates. Don't use myspace or IGN which are owned by Fox. If they have no money there isn't much they can do.
They are correct. the net neutrality laws are being writting by the big telco lobbyists. How neutral is that? BTW anytime you get the government involve how on earth does it make the internet free?
BULLSHIT!! they had one argument in that clip. "you pay" pay what? of course we pay, thats part of the reason why net neutrality rocks, because it causes other companies who are able to give us the same internet cheaper to fight against the companies who want more money. with net neutrality we wont have a choice over anything. they control what we see so that there will not be any more competition in the market. no smaller companies/artists/etc will have a chance.
wait??? what??? isnt it the exact oposite??? net neutrality is GOOD? and if we dont have it then we PAY?? right??? this is typical media brainwashing before your very eyes!! "confuse them until they are scared"
This commercial reminds me of Orwell's 1984 and it's world of double speak where everything is decreed to mean it's opposite.

@aekel66 You're both incorrect; it is about treating data the same as it passes through the network.

holy shit! this is such a blatant evil lie!
it sucks that NN is made a political issue because whether youre are dem/rep, lib/conserv, you should NEVER support the abolistion of NN... thats like getting rid of traffic laws because some pople pay more money for there car5s there fore deserve to drive them how they want.
ffs the ppl support the abolition of NN are the same who once took advantage of it starting out.

I hope the morons behind this ad get shot in public for putting out something stupid.
EmitRevid 2 years ago
Last but not least as a vital point for those who still think this means "Freedom" for the average person: There is nothing stopping an organization on one side or the other of the political spectrum, like the Swift Boat assholes, from paying boat loads of campaign money to throttle opposition sites while giving priority access to their own. If you remove Net Neutrality, you literally give parties control over the media in an insidious way.
BlazingOwnager 2 years ago

Its 'magical opposite world ' thinking.

daveyboyfox 2 years ago 3
The truth is in fact the exact opposite of what the commercial claims. It is the consumer that will lose if the bill is not passed.
Nathilus 2 years ago
So vague, so misleading, so blatantly corporatist...
I'd like to think this would get them hit with some big fines, but the ad's probably vague enough so they could weasel out of it.
h4KK 2 years ago
I dont think the republicans quite understand what is going on. There is currently no regulation, government nor private regulation, on the Internet. Passing a bill isn't regulating the Internet, it's preventing ISPs from regulating the Internet.
If I wanted to access google, and MSN is my ISP, without net neutrality, MSN could block traffic to google. For many, there is no choice but have 1 ISP in their area. That means, your ISP could block youtube unless pay more to access it.
mhoke63 2 years ago
Oh, they understand exactly what's going on. So do the corporations whose payrolls they're on.
Maphysto 2 years ago
As Maphysto says, they know PRECISELY what's going on, they just know how to spin it so their base will clamor on the side of the corporations, against their own interest.
The current GOP tactic for everything is to completely lie, say what they want to is the reverse of what they want to do, and watch how many fools buy it. It worked for medicare and I fear it'll work on the internet.
BlazingOwnager 2 years ago
This video is a lie.

Net Neutrality protects small business. Passing bills denying net neutrality will mean a socialist government control of the internet via their corporate sponsorships. Youtube, for instance, will be throttled and shut down if net neutrality is not passed.
mourningdue 2 years ago
Not exactly. Youtube will be throttled unless you pay an increased fee at your ISP for "top tier" access, which will give you better connections to Youtube. Sides like Hulu and Netflix though, they'd be history - they're competitors to the cable companies.
BlazingOwnager 2 years ago

Did the NCTA consider us to be STUPID? (well, completely stupid. I don't about a lot of people, but still)

Net Neutrality is censorship.
thinkingisawesome 3 years ago
This is really about WHO gets to censor... the government or the corporation.

you are right, I am all talk. i talk to every one about net neutrality, i spread the word. what do you do? probably check up on youtube once in a while and then sit on the couch and do nothing.
freakman420 2 years ago
Talking about it and spreading the word don't work anymore. People got to be more active then talk the talk. Action is required but Congress or the House will not listen. So therefore there is nothing anyone nor you can do to make a difference.
DramaticSoul77 2 years ago
it does work, even if your not willing to take action, some one who will take action will eventually hear the hype.
freakman420 2 years ago
Would you explain why no one in congress or the house has heard us so far?

freakman420 2 years ago
This reminds me of scare tactic ads from the 50s and 60s - no facts, no data, not one intelligent argument against net neutrality!
These corporations really must believe the American public has no capability of intelligent thought.
mongoos150 3 years ago
Even if they believe the American public process intelligence, no one will do anything to stop them. Why? People such as you are too busy concerned about their own self and not others. They know you wont fight back but instead use time unproductively to produce inept videos such as "Coming Out", "Discover" and etc. Therefore you or anyone else pose no threat. It will be best if you have proposed an action plan. Otherwise, shut up.

Net Neutrality = Freedom of Speech
hockeygoalie9905 3 years ago 4
This video actually makes me very upset. I'm doing a report on Net Neutrality for one of my college classes and I've studied the pro neutrality side, and this is one first sources of the anti neutrality information that I've found.
This video says NOTHING about why it's bad. The ISPs seems to have just shifted the aggression that should be directed at them toward tech. This is BS if you ask me.
After I finish this assignment I will make a well-informed video that you can check out on here.
jackchagu 3 years ago 5
jackchagu: I, for one, would be very interested in seeing your report. Good luck on it!

Sure it says something about why it's bad. It says it at the very end when you see "Paid for by the national cable and telecom association"
bad for them...keeps them from making billions more dollars.
o0xst 3 years ago

I thought I just saw you associate the internet as the same kind of basic necessity as water. I double dare with icing on top to try going as long without water as you can the internet.
Hzqi 3 years ago
you dont quite understand. the internet is the sign that free speech does still indeed exist. internet is the last hope for true freedom in this country. the large greedy corporations take the most used servie of the generation and restrict it. they did it with tv, they did it with radio, theyre even doing it with water now as a matter of fact. shouldnt water be free? i mean the companies dont make it, why should they charge people for it
yamilink03 3 years ago 2
I do quite understand. I'm all for Net Neutrality, but it's still a bad comparison, because a lack of one will inconvenience you, a lack of the other will kill you. Unless of course, you wanted to be hyperbolic.
Hzqi 3 years ago
freedom is hyperbolic. we dont need it to survive, but we crave it because it makes us happy. the 3 unalienable rights. without freedom, youre miserable

This has to be one of the most dispicable and shameless attempts to prey on people's weak mindedness I've ever seen, by the way.
It's entertaining, how sinister this garbage is.
Hzqi 3 years ago 2
it is indeed. i wish people would stop listening to idiot box and research the truth about things on the modern day's poor man university, the internet.
yamilink03 3 years ago
I found the group responsible for this ad. Flood their server. It will cost them a ton of money and will make it harder for them to take away the internet from us along with our freedom of speech. They also proudly display a NeoCon layout too. I emailed them and gave them a piece of my mind and so should you. The internet is a free market already don't let anyone make new laws for it.

BULLSHIT!! they had one argument in that clip.
