  • Your too ugly. Your hair will fall out soon to just to away from you.

  • NO THANK YOU

  • The reason it's not recommended most of the time for ppl who have relaxer's that want to change to thermal is because it has ammonium thioglycolate which is the same chemical used in jheri curls, it just takes a talented stylist to be able to switch you over so that there is no overlapping, that's all. it can be done.

  • I SEE THEM USE THEIRS HANDS , BUT AT THE SAME TIME SHE DOESN'T OVER LAP THE SUBSTANCE , WHY ? SOUNDS LIKE A CHEMICAL . IS IT ? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE .

  • That's stuupid

  • So how much would a Japanese straightening cost? Where did you get it?

  • Very informative, thank you!! Your hair is beautiful!

  • @brandyiloveu4ever thanks i needed that you need to see my new videos i did a detour and shouldn't have done so. it's not the end of the Gina Hair's Talent story it's just that i learned by making mistakes.

  • Your hair looks so beautiful and healthy. Beautiful flow. Thank you for sharing this very informative video. I see you posted this video in Jan 2010. It's a year later- are you still getting this done. Do you still like the results? Still no breakage? If you are still happy with it, can you please let us know. If so, I will be contacting Gina RIvera to get this done to my hair. Thank you in advance for your help.

  • @Cairokmt i appreciate your positive comments i truly. needed that you need to see my new videos i did a detour and shouldn't have done so. it's not the end of the Gina Hair's Talent story it's just that i learned by making mistakes.

  • How do you spell the doctors last name?

Does the Japanese thermal have formaldehyde?

Do you have to put a mask on like with the Brazilian?

  • @MSGOODBAR Doctor Dermatologist Neil Sadick either on 72nd or 73rd st. Park Ave. NYC other doctors do the injections on damaged bald places it's actually a collagen/steroid cocktail they inject. it's sometimes painful but the hair will start back growing from a dormant stage if there is not any scaring underneath the scalp.

  • @MSGOODBAR This is from Gina Rivera posting this but I would like to get the word out!! I have a 3 day workshop on healthy hair care (relaxing, shampooing, blow drying, treatments) and doing the thermal on African American Texture. Round up some stylist to attend, come with them and be their model. If you are know any licensed stylist that are interested, give me a call, 203 481 1246

  • @luvuhard25 eh eh man shut your mouth foolish child

  • My mom owns a hair salon and does Japanese straight perms and she said it's not good for african hair bc it breaks easier and won't last. But yours looks normal.

  • @SammySamungSan Hi Sabra, Hope you don't mind me posting this but I would like to get the word out!! I have a 3 day workshop on healthy hair care (relaxing, shampooing, blow drying, treatments) and doing the thermal on African American Texture. • I love your hari!!! But, this is what I've read: "It does not work on African hair because it is too fragile and can’t take the heat required during the straightening process. It is not the same as a hair relaxer which is made especially for African hair. In fact, a growing number of women are claiming serious hair breakage problems ...

  • Your hair looks great! I'm getting my hair straightened soon and I'm very excited. Thanks for the video!

  • Do you have to cut your hair be4 you get this if you have had perms?

  • How long is your hair now? Do you still use this type of straightening method?

  • It really sucks for me that African-American hair is separated from caucasian hair, because my dad is black and my mom is white and hispanic. Bi/multiracial hair is in a category all it's own.

  • can u tell me how much u paid for this treatment

  • fuk the hair shit u need a diet no offence love :)

  • @YOUNGDON72 so uncalled for grow up bubby

  • I believe everyone should see GOOD HAIR!! Thanks for the video even though I have very manageable hair being caucasian (even though i can't hold a curl to save my life) I was doing reseach for my best friend who I am sure will find this information valuable.... thanks!

  • @sabrahardy

I love conversing with black women like you (including my mom)...you are so very intelligent.

  • I'm trying to convince a friend of my do this instead of home relaxers. I live in a small town in Japan and get this done at my local salon. The stylists were afraid it wouldn't work, but it did. I put olive oil in my hair to keep it from drying out. They even put a conditioning oil on my hair at the salon after straightening because my hair is dry. I have to go back every three months because I have 3 or 4cm of new growth. 20,000 yen (about $200) isn't too much to spend on hair every 3 months.

  • your hair is suppose to shed it just isn't suppose to be alot

  • Very informative video. Thank you.

  • I met her and Gina knows what she is talking about. She is very knowledgeable on how to handle hair that is on the kinkier side. The only real reason i havent gone to her is because it is too expensive for me college student to money put up to get my hair done. i did have enough of relaxers tho and i cut all my hair off so i can do the same thing the difference is its still nappy

  • ca anyone recommend a salon in NY that does this and give good treatment

  • @Learner012 Braids have been found by many many sisters as a style that can be considered not so protective. a very negative individual you don't know me or what i'm about so i've blocked you. funny you never speak about your own hair because your about starting trouble and speaking negative and typically that's what people expect of our people to hurt each other put each other down. i don't deal with people who promote stereotypes like you.

  • @Learner012 AGAIN I DISAGREE it is a well documented fact the chemicals on African American products have been revised over the years because of the caustic nature - matter of fact a beautician said Relaxers tend to dry out our hair. While care is a factor you can't comment because you don't know how each individual cares for their hair. there are many women that do not take well to sodium hydroxide no matter how well they care for their hair.

  • i always tell people to each his own i don't react well with relaxers it's drying to me. braids shed most peoples hair and makes it thin and all stylists i've spoken to say braids eventually thin hair out and if you see women comb out braids after a month you will agree. also with a thermal i don't have to base my scalp and buy lots of maintenance hair pomades or oils. it's low maintenance. the two chemicals are different period. i know from experience i needed more care with a relaxer.

  • @sabrahardy I am so feeling you right now. Everyone wants you to think what you do is wrong for your hair. But if you've tried everything just about, (and it sounds like you have) you know what's best for you. I loved it when you said, 'if your hair thrives in a certain styles, fine, DO YOU.' That's all you are trying to do. What we need to do as black women is stop trying to be the authority on hair and just support each other in our successes! BTW, thanks for making this vid!

  • @sabrahardy

I totally agree. Relaxer work by literally damaging the hair to create a loose(r) texture.

The fact that the hair IS relaxed (sodium hydroxide) means it IS indeed damaged.

Thermal Reconditioning has helped me sooo much, what took me an hour 45 min, now take me 30-38 minutes.

  • thank for making this video

i was goin to get my hair thermally str8in my hair

but i bleach my hair blonde so i now im going to get relaxer but for my friends mom who is white cause i dont trust most of these black hair stylist. but i said what i have been saying since i was ten thank you im in tears right now.

  • was this your first treatment? do you have pics/videos of your hair later into the process?

  • your hair flows nicely

  • Does the japonese straightner have chemicals in it? Will your hair revert back to its natural state?

  • @TieraChanel the sister and sister mag has an article on th treatment. I just read it yesterday. that is why i decided to look up on YT

  • @Learner012 hey don't knock what you don't have experience with. Ugly is a state of mind. i'm very much loved.

  • do you mind saying how much it cost? and how often you have to redo..thanks

  • @abbee72 hi it was pricey. due to the fact my hair is short i have to go about every three (3) months. i first got what is called a "Mini-Japanese thermal" about 3/4 of it is still sodium hydroxide relaxer and my hair has dye. so i've clipped it down. an actual thermal is very expensive but lasts about 6-8 months. some people go once a year.

  • It's wonderful to see someone who actually knows her information. Your hair is beautiful and you have a great personality and view on life. I enjoyed it :)

  • @imatt1990 thanks i want to do everything different because people always tell me that "If you do the same thing over and over expecting a different result is insane". so i'm trying a different process with my hair. i'm doing different things to lose weight, i'm not going to have surgery i tried it. i'm going to date different people i'm going out of my comfort zone.

  • very well explained. Im still trying to stay away from anything that would change the texture of my hair (im natural -afro style). I agree about the braids but not doing tight and not keeping too long can make it a protective style for someone's hair, especially in the winter.

  • @cwyjet God bless you i love beautiful afro's i mean that ! my hair is corse i couldn't comb through it without plaiting at night or using a texturizer. i'm sorry about that i also had a problem with people asking why do i wear an afro. and going to interviews people are somehow taken aback with natural hair. they are used to Black people hating their hair. I have one thing i don't like - weaves.

  • don't condemn unless you've tried everything. as far as my hair journey because of the changing of one harsh chemical to a less harsh one i still have lingering of the harsh chemical and there are no miracles with hair care it has to slowly be cut out. my intelligence is up on the best products to use for after care in my hair. the level of shampoos and conditioners used on japanese thermal unknown to most in our communities

  • You are a very intelligent, and beautiful woman. Your hair is AMAZING and I thank you for this video. Im an African American male and I have heard about Thermal Reconditioning for years and you are proving that we can do this and its about time that we did something that was healthy for US instead of relying on the burning chemicals all the time. S-curls, "Kits" -- all of it damages our hair. THANK YOU SO MUCH

  • Amazing results for afro-american hair with Japanese Thermal Reconditioning. The trick is to find an expert who's experienced with black hair and japanese thermal reconditioning, like Gina at Hair's Talent in Branford, CT.

  • Im blk & azn so my hair is mainly wild. I do get relaxers but they are constantly damaging my hair. I want a Japanese thermal straightener done but I was told that since I have AA hair, I couldn't. I don't believe it.

  • Hair is hair and I was determined to create a technique for my African American clients & prove them wrong.

Over the last seven years I have successfully treated hundreds of women with problematic textured hair & curly hair, such as African American women, with the Japanese Straightening process. This method has proven to be a great alternative for this segment of clientele who would typically spend thousands of dollars on harsh chemical relaxers, weaves and wigs.

  • @GeishaMisha

    Dont believe it

You just need to find a stylist who knows what the hell theyre doing.

Im gonna get mine done this sunday, so hopefully my stylist knows! Haha. I trust her, This will be my first time. Ill let you know how it goes if you want, just message me.

(for reference, im black and mexican)

  • I'm hoping to go this weekend to check out a hairstylist in Delaware (yeah, I live in an area that hardly anyone knows anything about lol) and I told her about my hair...she said the same thing you said..so wish me luck! ^.^

  • @ItsHahaholly hi i hope your hair came out nice it sounds like you have a nice length of hair you would be surprized - you won't have dry scalp. you won't have split ends and you must go for treatments: Nigelle and Noirade pro.

  • girl listen holla t gina n trust me im 100% aa and u can get it so believe it
