Michelle is Catwoman -period. I love how her costume symbolizes many things about the character, how she had to assemble the pieces of her life together after her boss pushes her out the window after trying to help him, how the corset symbolizes man's repression in her life, the black symbolizes the darkness within her coming to surface, and the claws/whip as the symbol of her not being a victim anymore, and how it all unravel throughout the film like the woman herself. She did a perrrfect job.

Tim Burton was WAY AHEAD OF HIS TIME. the dumb film industry gave him the boot cause his versions were to dark and realistic...now they are trying to fix it to bring it back to the dark end of the comics. But Batman Returns & Batman kicked ass

Michelle put Catwoman on the map! Yes, everyone knows about Julie Newmar, but the character remained two-dimensional. Michelle made the character full bodied, cemented her as an icon, and showed just what you could do with the character. The "Catwoman" comic, not to mention the proposed sequel, was all due to Michelle's performance!

I agree! We loved Julie Newmar for what she was - a stunningly beautiful villain. Unfortunately, we never got to see where her 'angst' came from. That was the problem with a lot of the 60's Batman villains. We only got a bit of the history on a few of them (King Tut, Mr. Freeze, Eggman for eggsample). With Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman, you were a part of her, and I believe that's what Tim Burton wanted; to live inside that character for the length of the story.

IMO, this is still the best Batman movie ever made. It was dark, it was gothic and atmospheric, almost black and white in places. Keaton was brilliant and a perfect Bruce Wayne/Batman, Christopher Walken was awesome and DeVito/Pfeiffer put in performances that will never be topped by villains in a comic book movie again.

Cat woman in the movie was a character w/ a bad case of duality. She was having to mix between her love for bruce wayne, her rivalry with batman, then her friendship w/ penguin, and her distain for him. So I mean all the characters were not flat at all in the movie. The movie had way more depth then any other batman movie IMO. Dark Knight was good but it wasnt as deep and made you think as much as batman returns did.
