Thats a reboot. thats different. LoS is a completely new timeline seperate from the old one. and as things stand, gaes IGA has retconned are "gaidens". to be fair, the 64 games had some crazy shit. mainly, modern stuff that wasnt around, or wasnt as further along the line in the 1800's.

A retcon is something retroactively removed from the timeline.

A Reboot, is literally a restart. Never intended to be part of the original timeline, always intended to be it's own restart of the series.

Like Casshern Sins. It discards all previously established by Neo Human Casshern, or Casshern: Robot Hunter, and makes it's own story.

They call it castlevania because it is their re-imagining of it. The issue here, is Konami was not sure whether to make LoS a Castlevania game, or an IP.

Retcons should be avoided when possible. Reboots I honestly have little problem with, especially for a timeline as confusing and convoluted as IGA's. sometimes its nice to just make a fresh start breaking from the previously established timeline, just to start over.

It certainly worked for Casshern Sins, and I think Castlevania wont really be hurt by another Timeline running parallel to it.

on lament- it actually GAVE him an origin. otherwise, he has like 5 different conflicting ones, or none.

Thing is, Brahm Stoker's charatcer Dracula, is itself only LOOSELY based on the actual Vlad Tepes. Tepes was, from what I gather, not a bad ruler. before LoI, Legends was his origin. He was just some old sorceror or summin who made a pact with a demonic diety to become immortal and conquer the world.

Its a pretty weak origin if you ask me.

I tend to stick with Rondo of Blood / Symphony of the Night's version of things because they were practically the first Castlevanias to actually have any storyline in the gameplay. Is that version of Dracula so bad? He comes back because humans want him to, he loved a human woman, cares for his son, and actually has a very good point about religions being just as bad as him.

he became Immortal as revenge against God for taking his wife, and then, when Humanity took his second wife, he declared revenge on them.

Actually, Yoko was not involved with the Demon Castle wars at all. Julius was about 18 at the time, (55 during Aria) and given Yoko is much younger than him, (24 in Aria) she wasnt even AROUND during 1999.

to put it In layman's terms, Demon wars were in 1999, and Julius was 18. Yoko was -13 at the time.
