One thing that I really like about Liberace is what he was playful and made music what it is supposed to be: fun! And you can see that he loves what he's doing!
I was lucky to see Liberace when he was alive. He was the Mr. Entertainment 100 Percent. And very happy today that m Piano Tuner, Dan Levitan fixed my Yahama Disklavier "Player Piano" that I have over 10 years with all my famous piano players recorded when they were alive. [Liberace etc. songs] Wow coming to New York City will now be like coming back home.
I always loved Carmen Cavallaro's rendition of this piece, but I'd have to admit that Liberace's velocity was really over the top on this one. Truly an amazing and timeless talent. You have to wonder if the world will ever see his like again. Thanks Lee.

Saw Liberace in Vegas many, many years ago. Definitely the showman and a great pianist...his rings, dancing waters and Rolls were all delightful. Suggest you also check out James Booker's version of Tico Tico--he fancied himself the Black Liberace.
He can turn any type of song and modify it to his own style and still make it a better version. Brilliant all around person he was. I bet he would have even better songs today in his brilliant style and make it a hit.
Why does foreign people - who doesn't live in Brazil - think that Tico Tico is samba? It's "chorinho". Ah, I also would like to say there are big cities in Brazil, not only rain forest n' wild animals... Obama will visit us next Saturday, at the city of Rio... No safari... Got it?
Why is it that on all the Liberace videos I've watched, people comment about him being gay! Who the hell cares what kind of people he was attracted to. Isn't that personal? Is that any of your business? This guy was a brilliant entertainer. Why not comment about his amazing talent and individuality!
I was fortunate to see him play for the last time in Melbourne Australia in 1985 and came away absollutely breathless. This man was a one on ten million. Ther will b e many wannabes etc but there will never be another Liberace. A true gift from heaven
Gay - butchered the classical music - died of AIDS. Whatever, he was loved by many and was the highest paid entertainer from the 1950's thru the 1970's making more than Elvis or Frank Sinatra. Enough said, while the made fun of him, he laughed all the way to the bank.
This queens gimmicy act with the candlebra, and all the glitz and glam got my attention. Then I just fell in love with him. I read in the encyclopedia that he was the highest paid entertainer in the word from the 1950's through the 1970's. Enough said, while the put him down and claimed he destroyed music, he laughed all the way to the bank.
@fatguyonpiano I'm singing "It's Raining Men" now...LOL Just kidding ;~)
I agree...Liberace was amazing. And such a lovely gentleman, too. I love everything about this video, the decor, his suit, the playing, especially the playing...love the way he put his whole body into it...and the way he smiled so sweetly at his audience...always. I grew up watching him and even though I'm a girl, I wanted to be Liberace.
Gay or not , Dont be telling me you can classify his playing as GAY also Gud dam it ppl the guy was a Musician and tried to give it his all, or cant some ppl let the dead R.I.P ????
oh ! he was gay and one of his documentruys of his life tells you of the story , pains and struggles he had to go through to just entertain us. This guy inspiered me to play NOT cos he was gay by the way but cos he was amazing at his craft FULL STOP ! R.i.P And thanks for bringing a smile to us with those outfits
Liberace was a genious . I grew up watching him on tv. He's Prince Poppycock's inspiration. I love Prince Poppycock( from America's Got Talent). Hope he gets a headling show in Vegas.
If any of you ever get the chance to be in Vegas, you have to go to the Liberace museum. It is such an amazing little gem that will give you hours of fun, interesting facts about the genius we know as Liberace.
He was an incredible man, amazingly gifted and brilliant. People made fun of him for being gay but not one of those people could match him in talent or in grace. In every video you watch of him, you will see a warm smile and a talented person doing what he loved. There will never be another like him, and sadly the world didnt appreciate him when they had him. Now we are left with these videos of his love for music and of a sweet human being....... Thank you for posting this video
Liberace was a child prodigy. He started playing at age 4 and was able to play and memorize very difficult pieces by age 7. He spent almost 20 years perfecting his craft. He was a real genius who decided to be a showman-as in show me the money.
I gotta heavy date, with one who won't wait, so tick-o please be so late. I love not so cuckoo in clock ,,,,, tick-o, tick-o, tick-o, tock. Dah, dah, dah.
Liberace was gay, but his wardrobe wasn't an indicator. Liberace's wardrobe was for showmanship, for being the center of attention. I understand there are other entertainers similar to him who dress like him: Elton John Little Richard. However, Prince also dresses flamboyantly and he's not gay. 80s hair metal bands such as Motley Crue and Poison were into gender bender outfits. They weren't gay. Heck, Elvis had rhinestones. The clothes are for being a spectacle.
His personal life doesn't concern me ....... nor should it anyone else ........ he was a super musician and entertainer. He was also extremely generous with his time and money. His museum in Las Vegas is a fantastic place to visit and see all his showbiz paraphernalia.
El mejor pianista de todos los tiempos...inspiracion para artistas grandes como Freddie Mercury o Elton John...genios inspirados por este inmenso genio...Tenia q ser!!!!

stevey, are you serious? i was being facetious when i posted that - ironic if you will.
i was being funny and it went way over your head.
liberace caught aids the old fashioned way up his shit-hole.
i'm not guessing, i actually read a book about the guy. he caught it from his coked up boy toy, scott thorson. look it up.
besides, i've been pretty sure about his sexual preference since my dad told me 'that liberace is a fuckin' queer' the first time i saw him on television.
Wow, someone's polite. I feel sorry for you... How could you live with your dad bringing you up like that? Like I said I'm not here to question his sexuality, or private life.
Zequinha de Abreu. By the way this is not a samba, in Brazil we called it: "Chorinho" Little cry...Because it sounds like a cry. This rhythm was big in Brazil till early 1920s...obviously it became well known internationally because Carmem Miranda sang this in her glorious days...
This is from Liberace's 1969 summer series, taped in England, when he served as "THE RED SKELTON HOUR"'s summer replacement on CBS {Tuesdays, 8:30pm(et)}.
my late mother was a fan of his big time..I never saw him, but she did 3 times and each time would just rave about him..Yeah, he was a flamer but who cared? He was a talented guy who just did his thing, and was wonderful at it..he was defintely one of a kind..
Gay, but a "GENIUS" gay. Play 10% like him, so come here to write dumb things....

Can anyone tell me the composer of this piece? I heard it played as a piano and clarinet on Classic FM (UK) but didn't catch the composer.
