i had one bunny boy exactly the same............it makes me sad.........but in same time makes me feel peace remembering him like he was by watching this video...ty.....
Do everyone a favor and get rid of the cage. Open your home to him and love him all you can.Ours has the run of the house. Amazing how he will make you laugh. Sure they are more work than a cat or Dog but he's worth it. Bunny proof it If you must. Ours doesn't chew, Litter box fine just clean it once a day Rabbits like a clean bathroom. I do too. Your Rabbit is dying to love you. Spend a few days in Jail and you'll understand what you are putting your friend through.
that is such a cute little hut! sorry for your loss but that the thing they are family members they cant be replaced but you can have even greater joy with another.
@TheSnowyBeach If you type in "neat idea cubes" on amazon.com, these are basically square grids that can be used to make a big rabbit cage--as big as you want, basically. If you look up pictures on google, you'll see how people have made some awesome cages. Those are only for indoor rabbits, though.
Or you could buy a pen and attach it to the cage, leaving the cage open so your bun can get out and run whenever he wants. Also only for indoor rabbits.
@TheSnowyBeach Are your rabbits outside? How about converting a shed into a bunny palace? Buns are very active so the more space they have to play the better. I love using a shed because it's always warm, dry and predator proof.
I'm in tears as I watch this. Years ago I have had several male or female rabbits who would run about their cages in order to make everyone in the house wake and give them attention. They loved to have their heads petted for hours or would hop into your lap while you were seated in a chair. They always greeted you whenever you visited their cage and would perch up as high as they could. Your cute bunn with his humming sums up how much I miss my bunns that grew up with me! Thanks for this video!
looks like my rabbit only without the floppy ear, btw my rabbit don't really like to be touched and since you had one i thought you could give me a couple of tips. and my rabbit boxes at everybody too it's funny but weird.
The rabbit in the video is a non-neutered male (often friendly) I had from young. He hated being picked up but loved me to stroke the top of his head/massage his neck. Most tame rabbits love this, so try gently stroking your rabbit's forehead. Mine got so addicted to it that in his large exercise pen he would run around my feet (or hump them!) until I stopped to stroke him. He would sit there indefinitely; whenever I stopped he would thump and put his paws up on me until I did it some more!
my rabbit did that too, (he was an un neutered male) and would hump everything :D so I thought getting him neutered would make him stop, but it doesnt lol
It’s v. obvious this bun is not threatened! Scared prey animals run AWAY, not into the open/toward the scary thing, fetching toys, putting paws up, etc!
Dogs bark to warn but also in play. One must use common sense to interpret the difference. Some boy rabbits thump in play/horniness.
A scared rabbit freezes or bolts to its cubby. A ‘fear thump’ carries a LONG way, an amazing sound!
The rabbit in this vid is def. playing!
Ladyk, pet rabbits should not die after 1yr. The av. lifespan is 7yrs.
hm. this rabbit owner is misinterpreting the rabbit language. His one is up, and one down, tilted and his is making thumping sound... it means he is pisssed.
actually when they make those noices and thumping it is sending a message saying that it feels threatened, not demanding attention. I am sorry for you loss. I feel for you. I have lost two rabbits of my mine after having them each a year before they would get sick and die. They are fragile creatures.
@Alankpb OMG she so is threatend!! you know like since the bunny is coming up to the cage wanting to be petted he is deffinetly being threatend. (Tried to spell like you)
@Alankpb I 'feal' that 'mayby' you should learn to spell! It's plainly obvious in the video that he is thumping for play and is eager for attention. Some rabbits thump playfully, just as dogs bark in play as well as when guarding. It is quite normal, not to mention super cute!
Him luvs you. I wish our bun was as social.I read that males tend to be more interactive/social. Maybe ours is female? Have you or your parents ever thought of allowing him in the house with a litter box? Ours loves to live along side the family. Bun runs for fun and is quite acrobatic.I laugh so hard.
This darling little bunny boy passed away suddenly in the early hours of this morning from an unknown cause. He was still bouncing and thumping like there was no tomorrow just 48 hours prior.
He had stopped pooing for a couple of days. Then yesterday he stopped drinking, a great lethargy came over him, and he was wheezing slightly. Not half a day later later he was gone. He was 6.5 years old, and in my care for all of those years.
@Finchesca oh my ! well at least you can be reassured that you gave him a great life :) by the looks of it you were a great care taker of him and im sure he would thank you for a wonderfull life :)
@Finchesca I lost my lop, Sparky years ago very quickly too. She was fine, but when I feed her supper, she was leaning against the cage wall. I brought her inside to watched her. She died a few hours later. We brought her body to the emergency vet. We needed an answer. He said from her weird behavior she might have had meningitis. It's also called "Star Gazing". It can happen so fast. Sparky was 6 yrs old too. Still miss her 15 yrs later.
My bunny is always like that when I go and see him.
