Oh my word... you can just tell how much he loves playing. The emotion... AH! I honestly wish I could even have an inch of talent this man has. This piece brings tears to my eyes.
LOOOOOOOOL i love how Blood+ pretty much made this song what it is.
Every video i click on...there are people talking about blood+. dont get me wrong i love the show..and thats how i foudn the song....but like. woah haha.
anyways..because of the show i have become a major bach cello addict.
this guy plays this song amazingly. i really like the way he interprets it.
@JetSetLifeLove yes haji is so cool and the cello is my absolute favorite instrument!!!!! I love suite No. 5 it makes me so sleepy but i love it, it's so beautiful, the passion, and emotion makes it perfect!!!!
I love his bow control. I really wish I could have been that good. I was at my prime sweeping competitions. Then I devolped MS and rhuemotorid arthris and carpal tunnel. I hope all the best for this young mans Musical future. Im 18 and should still be playing but my health says otherwise. It truly makes me happy to see cellist doing such great things
It is supposed to be played scordatura and Bach's original notation is for a cello with the a string tuned down to g. Nothing special ;)
I do realise that nowadays it is hard to play a well known piece, because you need a whole new interpretation so that it doesn't get boring. Nonetheless I like slower versions a lot better!
Good song. I think he played it a little too quickly to really create a somber mood, but it is his interpretation and he played it well. I'm trying to decide if his light vibrato was intentional- I realize that Bach was technically a baroque-era composer, but his music is much more modern than that and could have been played with more vibrato.
this person is very important for our music culture nowadays.I agree with MEHMET COSKUNER and want to say something more.We cannot erase his all career by one performance which i think was nice...while critisizing please do not ignore his whole life career...because he has drawn a way to himself and keep going through on this way...however everybody can make mistakes sometimes in their life way but don't forget that main way is always a main way...
in a first look you can also understand that he is a talented and significant person.the emotions which wanted to be given in the piece is just shown by his face...he is playing with his spirit not his ability...
Please be carefull while commenting on this guy! he is so hardworking in same way he is so successful, he has many wonderfull albums, 6 suite of J.S.Bach, complete Beethoven Sonatas, these are some of them. He has many concert during a year in France, Belguim, Cyprus and more. He is incredible person, so kind, so gentle. Nicolas Delatille is a great person... PLS do not be jelous. :P
I will say that he did rush it a little, but at the same time I will say that he did a great job on the piece in general. To me I think that this piece did need to be at a bit of a faster tempo, all the other 5th Bach suites on Youtube were just a bit slow for me. Thanks for posting this!
um...there's nothing expectional about this performance. his intonation isn't good, his articulation is muddy, his phrasing sounds hurried, and his tempi are too fast. and during the fugue he's not consistent with the treatment of the subject. bad performance.
Rushed/too fast: The most common criticism of Bach performances I hear from inadequate judges. Where do you get your ideas of proper tempi, Yo-Yo Ma? What a joke.
I suppose the rhapsodic nature of his performance is the most objectionable aspect. While you seem to be more of a strict classicist of interpretation, I also enjoy a performance which is not bound by "consistent treatment of the subject".
What a refreshing interpretation of the 5th Allemande of the Bach Cello Suites! While conveying the sense of solitude and overall depression, he refrains from over doing it and leaving a 'sticky' feeling and I'm afraid that Mischa Maisky's Romantic interpretation of this (posted on YouTube) is a perfect example...

gret song but he goes a bit fast. he needs to slow the pace in the beginning
bloodrayne121 4 years ago
Quite exceptional -- the biggest problem is some occasionally muddy phrasing which would most likely be fixed by a better recording.
