  • I'm going to start kendo

  • @LordZdawg When? Where? If you are from Vancouver, B.C. than join the UBC kendo club!1

  • Just wondering is pushing an opponent who landed an ippon down bad form or his/her fault for not maintaining his/her balance ...

And is edging away from a blow/thrust/slash? instead of blocking with the shinai bad form too ...

  • where's their kiai? nice matches though

  • wow... they r not that good

  • .... i don't know what to say to your immature comment. must be a 12 year old who knows nothing about Kendo. If you do know Kendo, I want to go slap your master.

  • not kirei at all ..

i preffer kendo like an martial art not lika sport competition.

  • us got fuckedup

  • I don't like how the Koreans are fighting, they move around with feet up in the air and bouncing up and down. Like they sparing in tae kwon do or something.

  • im fine watever ur saying as long its not racist... cause im korean or i will hunt u down... -_-

  • This has nothing to do with race. I know in Korea they have their own form of kendo, but all kendo originated from Japan. The basic foot work is to plant your feet on the ground to have the base for striking. If you look at what's happening in this fight, you should notice that the Korean player is moving around like in boxing bouncing up and down and such. That's why I didn't like the fight.

  • you know that if you understand kendo, you would not make this comment. how long have you learned Kendo if you've ever learn at all?

  • If you knew what kendo was before they changed the rules you'll understand why you don't jump up and down. Footwork is important so you don't lose your balance.

  • hm... last time I went to Japan to practice.... EVERYONE jumped up and down at least a couple times in the beginning....

I myself just loosen up before the match by jumping up and down.... sometimes I take an extra hop or two after my strike ended... yes but I agree jumping up and down is not the way peopleshould practice but... everything goes in a tournament lol...

  • LOL

  • lol

  • If you were to move around all the time like that might as well just throw your footwork part of the Kendo out of the door. Anybody can kendo in that case then. Because bascially you just swinging a sword instead of fists while boxing.

  • Both sides are at international WKC level so they do not need or have to follow the style of one single type. Both sides make use of the other's decisions in swings and movement. None the less, the cleanest and fastest swing is the better victory for the point as reflected by judges.

  • The jumping up and down frees body from tension.

  • Why do many of you say this was a great fight. This was crap.

I hate the skipping, dodging, pushing and pulling and running after you get ippon. Not a single technique was used, and the ippons were ugly as hell. Sorry for being such a critic, but kendo is supossed to be beautifull, a gentlemans sport like said before. I am sure they are good kendoka's, but not when you behave like this.

  • well like , if you compete at an international level its kinda hard not to do shia kendo.

but yea lol not everyone in the world can be like eiga. now eiga's style of kendo very orthodox =D

  • i agree with koyama at an international level its very tense ya kno with all that national pride and such

  • 멋진 장면! 미국선수 넘 설치다 평상심을 잃어 져버렀네요~~

  • Don't think I could ever practice Kendo outside Japan...these guys behave like animals. Whatever happened to the gentlemans martial art...

  • hm.. usa fought like shit

  • GO KOREA!!!!

  • kick his bollocks!!!

  • Proabably you suck at it.

  • but a good fight to the US players too! Good sports, very awesome!

  • I'm korean myself and I loved this! But what the hell is up with the screaming? Kendo is about being humble(last I checked) no need to make such noise in a divine place >.<

  • 1/3 of getting the point is all about your kiai. if you don't have spirit, then it's like you don't want it. and plus, you have to cheer for your team if they're in the finals. ^_^

  • They are not fighting in a church they are fighting in a gymnasium somehwere in taiwan. Besides the scream is to score a point.

  • wow. team usa put up a good fight, but wow.. just wow.. team korea won end of story.

  • GO KOREA!!!!!!

  • Team Korea for this WC is the best squad ever!!!

Thanks for putting this up. -from Seoul, S.Korea
