One of the best moments of my life today? I made a reference to this song, as was pertinent to a text I was studying. My supervisor said "Yes, I know the song." Nice to know your MRes supervisor is on the same wavelength as you.

I normally don't care to compare percussionists / musicians, but in this instance I will make an acception. There is something eerily similar between Roger Taylor and Gil Moore of Triumph fame when it comes to drumming and singing ability. Just my own opinion mind you.
wow...roy thomas baker...i wish i could meet that guy! i want to get into music production and at college im going to do a huge presentation on the things that can be achieved in the studio. watching these videos is giving me so many ideas!
its fantastic "im in love with my car" i saw it live recently and it was really good!
it wasnt a really loud gig but theres so much power in the song writting, there doesnt need to be!
when the band changed (record producers) as in Roy Thomas Baker...The bands sounds changed a lot. I wish they would of stayed with him....I never liked the MAC guy who can in on the game album.
In 1980, with the introduction of 'The Game', Queen introduced the first album that used synthesizers. Before that they proudly proclaimed 'no synths' on their albums. It was inevitable, it was the times. Freddie just kept re-inventing himself, and for that matter John was big into funk, so it would have happened no matter who was producing. It's what they wanted. I tend to love the older Queen myself, but every album has a gem.
@mobile4357 to me I've always felt that they started using synths a bit too late (not that they were needed anyway), and they didn't know exactly what to do with them when they started. Their "old" style didn't fit with synths so they had to try new stuff. Some worked, most didn't.
@chrisfdny1 Mack had been engineering their older stuff before he co-produced the 80s stuff, so he was part of their old sound (he was working with Queen and Electric Light Orchestra as well).
"Roy Thomas Baker is an example of someone who knows how to go too far but, enough too far"- prick! For a journalist he has yet to master the art of the english language

Roger said in one interview that this song is about Alfa Romeo he used to own. So it isn't about a car. Alfa Romeo is something better than a car :)

I totally agree, especially when Brian does that face at 2:05. He said that as if the song was more than just being about a car. LOL
