Since then her songs have lingered from top 20's, 30's and few flops here and there but, NUMBERS wise she's more successful than Kelly Rowland, plus she co-wrote the Writings On The Wall, DC's most successful album AND she writes/produces her own songs. Her vocal range is wider than Kelly's, she's better LIVE than Kelly etc...

Beyonce did most of the leads because the group was set up for her to go solo from the very start. Face it, destiny's child wasn't a group of "equal opportunity" which explains why there were so many problems in the group.

Honestly, She wouldn't be famous without Destiny's Child and I'm sure she appreciates that no matter what people think, it's obvious that Beyonce is very talented and it's possible that if she wasn't in DC that it wouldn't have gotten so far. Good point. I think ALOT of people have the "Blame Beyonce' " syndrome. But out of all the leads you've mentioned in your example AND Beyonce', I just don't understand why people can't clearly see how these individuals truly did/do STAND OUT amongst the group. It doesn't mean that the rest of the group aren't worthy or talented. But let's face it, most groups have that "focal point" that makes the group marketable and successful, and the lead person is usually that "focal point".

Honestly, She wouldn't be famous without Destiny's Child and I'm sure she appreciates that no matter what people think, it's obvious that Beyonce is very talented and it's possible that if she wasn't in DC that it wouldn't have gotten so far. Good point. I think ALOT of people have the "Blame Beyonce' " syndrome. But out of all the leads you've mentioned in your example AND Beyonce', I just don't understand why people can't clearly see how these individuals truly did/do STAND OUT amongst the group. It doesn't mean that the rest of the group aren't worthy or talented. But let's face it, most groups have that "focal point" that makes the group marketable and successful, and the lead person is usually that "focal point".

@smhill86 I believe EVERYONE knows this story...one of the oldest story in the music business...don't have to be from Detroit to know this one. Sure...I know it. My point was only that whomever appears to be "most marketable" of the group, is the one who gets put on the forefront to get the group off and running. Ironically though, these chosen individuals are in one way or another usually the "most beautiful," "most stylish," "most talented vocally," OR SOMETHING. That's the name of the game.

I only like maybe two songs from the second album and again, just probably two songs after the change in the lineup. That person should obviously be the one that is, by music industry standards, the best amongst the other members. Now unfortunately it is just the nature of the beast that the leads get the most attention as a result. No matter how much they put the other members in the interview or "limelight" or how many lines of a song the other members sing. People view the lead as being the heart of the group.

For example, Diana WAS NOT the original lead of the Supremes. Yet she was what the record company saw as being the most marketable so the lineup changed.

I mean she aight with her r&b gospelly voice, but Letoya and Kelly Rowland are better overall singers in my opinion, but Beyonce has gotten better over the years though. It's more like the supremes. Diana slept her way to the top while B was given more promotion and was the break out star because her dad was their manager.

@praisekrysist All that is opinion. Except for her success. She is the most successful of the group and of today besides Rihanna. I will agree, Beyonce is very beautiful, wealthy, and talented but she is not the greatest singer to me. Christina A, Leona Lewis, Jennifer Hudson, ect. are all better singers than her in my book. And personally I prefer Letoya's voice over hers because it is soft sweet and strong at the same time. Beyonce is a good singer but her vibrato annoys the shit outta me.

You right are right about the lead singers they aren't the only ones Marques Houston of Immature/IMx, T-Boz of TLC...Chilli sing lead sometimes but you mostly hear T-Boz, Brian and Brandon of Jagged Edge they are the lead singers, and that is all I can think of.

@PGCounty504 All those groups you mentioned gave others a chance to sing. Have you ever heard Letoyas voice until she went solo? Nope! They started letting Kelly and Michelle sing a few little lines after 8 years of them being together. Even when they performed back when their were 4 members they didnt even sing live, they sung to a back track and stood way in the background while they made Beyonce move out in front into the crowd.
