From 0:13 to 0:16 what scale is that it sounds a little different than basic Pentatonic This is the One Randy Rhoads Rips up just like you just did. would you mind tabbing out that scale for me lol ?
Also From 0:360:43 ... Btw I really would like to have a GMw polkadot V and I heard that guy is easy to talk to .From Start to Finish.
How is the playability on this? Is it pretty easy to play? I am praying when I get mine (not GMW) it has the playability of a Jackson Rhoads Performer, which I also own. My Gibson Les Paul Studio is a bit harder to play yet a Les Paul Custom plays like a dream, go figure.
@jacoblroark Ya, check it out here gmwguitars website (it's a dot com and put a /Zakk.html at the end to get to the right page... It's past all the Zakk shit towards the bottom with specs and pictures and stuff)
I'm finally getting to order my Polka Dot from GMW Guitars in another month I am excited! Glad I ran across this video, it's great seeing someone who can shred on it
I can tell you here that the Sandoval is the best guitar you will ever play, I have one. I bought it mainly for looks thinking it wasn't good for Blues but man when I played it, it seemed to be good for everything!
I own a danelectro and that is same neck the was used on Randy's original so really if you have played a denelectro then basically you've played a sandavol
@rclegg the main difference lies in the neck to body joint, and the neck itself.
the necks Sandoval used were old Danelectro necks, which didn't have an adjustable truss rod. Instead, they had a sturdy, heavy "I"beam running down the length. Non-adjustable, but still sturdy none-the-less.
Also, the tenon that attached the neck to the body was very long, extending deep into the body, but not all the way through, like a neck-thru construction.
@rowag001 yeah but its made by KARL SANDOVAL. ;) To the original specs by the original guy who will actually tell you all the first hand Randy stories, (and EVH for that matter), while you talk about buying a gutiar. Actually its around $7000 but you are paying the extra $4,600 to get the genuine article. I think thats fair. But you cant blame people for wanting something that resembles something their hero played. I can vouch for Karl though. He is an awesome guy who does great work.
I don't know if there open to the public. You can email or call Lee at GMW he's friendly, the guitars are around $2500 depending on the features you want.
Did you find yours took time to get used to playing comfortably?
I have a ebony fretboard on mine with 22 frets and it is one of the nicest, smoothest playing necks ever, but I find the first frets seem such a reach away, not comfortable so far.
GMW is cheapier, and Zakk Wylde ordered his Polka Dot V from GMW... And he is still having a lot of $... Why he ordered from GMW? Because Karl Sandoval overprices the guitars over the top, while GMW makes awesome replicas for a normal wallet...
And I did sent Karl Sandoval a message asking for the price of his "trademark" guitar, and I receive, nothing,in my inbox messages. Not so friendly, only those with thick wallets will receive "fair" and "down to earth" treatment from Karl Sandoval himself, perhaps.I'll be looking forward, for GMW.
I think Lee at GMW actually has a proper agreement with Karl Sandoval to make these and makes them exactly the same as Karls.
Karl stopped building for quite some time, that is how this agreement came about.
I have one of these and the attention to detail is amazing. Things like the bow tie inlays not being an even with and the rear covers not being recessed, all because that is how Randy's was.
If you want a true Replica of Randy's PDV, GMW do it, with Karls permission.
You seem to have a strong knowledge of theory. What books would you recommend a begginer? At theory, not playing. I have been playing for two and a half years. I just want my solos to sound half decent and get away from the "Slayer" technique.
it is crap. i know a few guys who purchased it because they didn't have enogh cash for the real deal brands. the dots were wrong, the pickups were'nt the same as randy's, the paint quality was'nt as good, cheap hardware was used. you get what you pay for, you know?
if there is anyone seriously interested in one is practically new. it has been played for less than an hour and not a scratch on it. Send me a message if you're serious about it. and man does this replica rock by gmw. lee is a great guy to work with.
HOW, WHERE, and IS IT POSSIBLE! To get that guitar. PLEASE RESPOND. That is my dream guitar. I'd rather have that than a Frankenstrat, Gibson Les Paul or even a SG. Please where can i find one!
how do u like that gain star amp? im interested in one. is this the 30 watt or 15? are u using any pedals or just straight in the amp? how is the clean channel?
The sound and build of the amp is awesome. This one is the 30 watt version. I used some dirt from the overdrive ch mixed with a custom shop wylde OD. It takes pedals very well. And the clean I enjoy alot. Many variations in tone on both Channels. Its is loud, you need to turn it up to appreciate the boutique sound. Keep me posted if you get one. You can read the reviews on Harmony-Central also. Hope this helps.
wow, thx for the fast response. do you think you could do a video sometime of the gain channel without any pedals? i would like to hear if it could get an 80's rock like bon jovi or something without pedals? could you also show the clean chanel maybe and hwo it does blues? it would appreciate it alot
i want to get an amp that sounds great w/out pedals, if you know what i mean.
The price is fair for a custom shop quality guitar. Especially when compared to other manufactures building a Rhoads replica at around twice the price.
Cheers!! i plan on buying the Zakk Wylde version of the Randy Rhoads V. u know the one with the floyd rose!! watsthe action like on yours and how big is the Neck
the action on this guitar is set low, the size of the neck is 25 1/2" scale, 6150 medium jumbo fretwire, and a bone nut and a 1 5/8" wide nut width. hope that helps. ive been planning to purchase this guitar, so i know all of the specs.
sweet. i was planning on buying one!! and i was pretty cofident i wud get it.. but then i was told the shipping and duties would cost an extra £400 on to the guitars price and Lee is also charging an extra £75 for the Case now :( so in total it would cost me £1675 which i cant afford! but anyway make sure you post some videos when you get it!! i wud love to see it in action!! best guitar ever if you ask me!
First i thought, aaw, another "rich" dude, with a polka dot! but man, awsome playin!!!
ive been thinking about buying one from GMW myself, but what kind of pickups you got ? and how "long time" did it take to make it, u know ??
AaAand are you satisfied with your guitar ? was it worth it ?
