Well if you think about it, it was only a landslide because of a world-changing event (collapse of Lehman and the consequences). If you look at numbers just before Spept. 15 it was close. So actually this prediction was wrong. A world changing event tipped the election in favor of Obama to make this seem right.
Wow, very impressive prediction. You're exactly right. Obama won by a lanslide and gotten more votes than any elected president in history. Reading the comments from the last six months from people doubting Obama could possibly win made me laugh.
And, ironically, the economic collapse was world changing--but that helped Obama IMO.
The crisis forced people to vote on who seemed most reliable overall, not just single issue wedges like abortion and immigration. It compelled more interest and more voting. I wish people approached politics like that all the time.

You know the whole "lanslide" win comment was told about Al Gore and look what happened? Same thing for Obama, he has the potential to win in a lanslide but he won't even win because most americans will wake up and say he's too liberal and not ready to deal with these issues. I mean who wants a guy who wants to sit down with Ahmedinijad, one of the terrorists who took American hostages in the late '70's???
you are going to eat your words, they have not played the inexperience card.State senator, then 1 year Senator,Voting record,is non existant.Jerimaiah Wright will re appear for an oncor,THe blood bath will continue, indonesia will come up,many items will come up,then take it up against a man who served his country.
I really hope Obama wins it. However, I think that people don't understand just how messed up the US economy is and how much suffering there is in the future for the American working and middleclass. Which I think in 2012 would mean a campaign by the rebulicans blaming Obama for a very difficult 4 years desipte all this being their fault. Very much like Jimmy Carter administration.
Completely wrong samone217. I can tell you just believe everything the mainstream media tells you. The facts show our economy isn't in a recession and unemployment is still under 5%. What most people don't realize is inflation is out of control coupled with rising oil prices and a horrible housing market, means all but the wealthy are wary to spend and invest money. The problem is, it would get alot worse with Obama in office.
Lets say Obama is President and he starts end the Bush tax cuts and starts to increase taxes. Well right there will a real recession. Rising inflation, rising oil prices, horrible housing market and then add higher taxes - not only will you have a stifled economy, but you will higher unemployment too. At this particular point in time, Obama getting elected will make Jimmy Carter administration look really good.
I think you should stop listening to the mainstream media. Yes I agree according to government 'facts' The US economy is not in recession. yet we have high inflation, but this is not reflected in interest rates. i.e. we have a real negative interest rate. the definition of a recession is negative rate of GDP over a number of months. If you do not maintain the value your money when things are getting more expensive by definition you are reducing the size of your economy.
samone217 also will you care to explain how all of this is the Republicans fault? Rising oil prices - Democrats prevent us from drilling our own oil. Bad housing market is Bush's fault how when the Democrats pushed for the bad loans to be made to these low-income familes that shouldn't have been given the loans in the first place. Granted, Bush has done nothing to address these issues but neither is Congress. They are just standing along with Bush and just watching the bleeding continue.
Yeah easy. trying to avoid a major recession after the dotcom bust, the current administration increased the money supply using credit and increased spending (the war) while cutting taxes for the rich i.e spending money it doesn't have. Most of that ending up in the bubble housing market. That bubble has now burst, people cannot borrow against the falling value of their property so now the government is increasing the money supply. i.e. the price of oil isn't going up, the dollar is going down.
samone, most of what you said is utter nonsense. I'm going to reply to this in 2 ways: first explain how cutting taxes for the rich is spending money it doesn't have? Cutting taxes for the rich i.e. Bush tax cuts is what helped our economy out of the recession during the end of the Clinton administration. Also what you fail to realize is the US government took in more tax revenue after the Bush tax cuts i.e. the government got more money after the tax cuts than before it.
"Most of that ending up in the bubble housing market."
wth are you talking about here? Are you saying the Bush tax cuts and the war spending went into the housing market. What kind of nonsense is that? The bubble burst because millions of low-income wage earners got loans there were never suppose to get because of dropped interest rates that weren't fixed.
Lastly - the price of oil is going up because the demand for oil has never been higher (see China and India). Not only is it not going up, its skyrocketing. The reason the dollar is going down is because of low interest rates and savings. If you really believe the price of oil is not going up but the dollar is causing the high oil prices, then you really are stupider than I thought you were.
Iran is a country whose defense spending is less than 1% of our own; spends less on its military than countries such as the Netherlands and Sweden; has never invaded another country in modern history, and could not possibly threaten us
Only way Obama can win is if McCain does something so appaling that he just makes himself look more unelectable than Obama. And its going to have to be pretty bad because Obama himself is just flat out unelectable. There's a good chance McCain can pull out with 35-40 states - 35 being the minimum.
Give it up. Ron Paul has zero chance now. He makes people think and most people don't want to think. For most people he's too much for them. The federal reserve conspiracy, the Iraq war, 9-11 etc. The brainwashed will not go for it. Second best is Obama.
I do not understand the logic in this argument. If you believe in the ideology that Ron Paul believes (conservatism), voting Obama is exact opposite (liberalism). While McCain is also liberal in many many ways, he's not nearly as far left as Hillary and Obama.
Obama and Paul are far more similar than the Paul and McCain especially when it comes to foreign policy. I don't subscribe 100% to any of the ideologolies any more such as conservatism, libralism, democratic or Republican which explains why I, a registered democrat, was a Ron Paul supporter. Since he's out of the race and the choices are essentially Obama and McCain, I will choose Obama. He's me overall second choice and I consider him to be a great Plan B.
No matter how you try to spin this Iafmassive, Ron Paul and Obama are NOTHING ALIKE. They have only 1 thing in common I think - getting out of Iraq. Now if that is the extent of your viewpoint on why you are going to vote for Obama (as your Plan B), then this shows your depth of ignorance and quite frankly, you make absoultely no sense.
Spin? I don't have an agenda and I have no reason to be disingenuous. Here's reality: we have Obama on one side and McCain on the other; Hillary's just about done. One represents and supports an agressive bully-like kind of foreign policy that can send us into wwIII and the other represents a foreign policy that seeks diplomacy and negotiation before declaring unnecessary wars. It's a different refreshing approach versus a "fight fire with fire" approach.
But let me ask you this, you say your a Ron Paul supporter right? How can you safely vote for someone (Obama) who only has 1 and only 1 particular issue that Ron Paul agrees with. If your voting for Obama because you want the war in Iraq to end in defeat, then say that and I won't hold it against you. But don't go around saying because Ron Paul is out, Obama is the 2nd best choice because they are the most similar. That's totally untrue and borderline stupid. That's like comparing white to black
Well, to grovel in Cenks case means to subordinate yourself to any democrat politician just because he's an elected democrat. Republicans do the same thing. And, socialism means being FORCED to put your money into a pool wherein those who control the pool get to spend it as they see fit. Being FORCED to give up your money makes you a slave. I could elaborate more but hopefully you get the point.
Do us a favor and stop using the "socialized" services provided by our military, public schools and fire and police departments (to name some critical ones). Go live on an island where you can be as selfish and greedy as you like along with all of the other libertarians as I'm sure you'll enjoy that much more as there will be no taxes or evil socialized systems. Good luck!
Just because you can't figure out how a country could be run without stealing money from it's citizens, doesn't mean it can't be done. Stealing is immoral. Or, haven't you heard? You seem to be "selfish and greedy" with other peoples money. If you think you have to go live on an island in order to be free, you don't understand volitional freedom. You are extremely State indoctrinated. Please stop condoning slavery.
Yawn. Pooling resources is smart. You can take it too far, or not take it far enough, and that's a reasonable debate we can have. The idea that you shouldn't do it at all is absurd and extreme, as is comparing it to slavery (which is an insult actually).

Turk you are making to much out of this McCain, Ellen thing. Would you have felt better if McCain said he was okay with gay marriage, just to be PC. That's what Obama would do. He told her how he felt, and was honest to her, without being a prick about it. Also Ellen handled herself very well. This was just two adults talking about a very serious subject, and doing it with grace. Try it some time Turk you might surprise yourself.
One big problem though, the democratic vote is going to get split in this election like the Republican vote did in 1992. The polls are showing this and I suspect they are even more slanted to favor Obama as the actual results are more hurtful. Plus the majority of states Obama is winning are Republican states he will not have any shot winning. Special elections are not Presidental elections. Plus Obama's favorable rating across the board has been shot up. All in all, not good news for Dems.
Ah, but the majority of Democrats will, after calming down, vote for the Democratic nominee since both candidates have very similar policies so long as the primaries are settled by mid-June. McCain has had all this time to work and he's just running even with Obama? He's wasted his chance.
On the other hand, the Republican vote *is* going to be split with Bob Barr running as the Libertarian.
The majority of Democrats who vote for Obama will vote for Obama. What you forget is there are entire demogauges of the Democratic Party that will not vote for Obama. Old white people - over 90% will vote for McCain. Jews - atleast 30% will vote for McCain and I think it will be closer to 40%. Ironclad Hillary supporters - over 90% will vote for McCain. Latin vote - McCain will get atleast 15-20%. Then take other white liberal Americans - McCain will get another 20-25% from there.
Any way you look at it FalconX2000, the Democrats are screwed in this upcoming election. Obama, just for who he is and his associations, offends many demogauges of the Democratic party. Hillary can't win either but I think she can make a closer race of it than Obama can because she attracts more key voter bases in the battleground states.
And Bob Barr?...lol...he will be lucky to get 2% of the total vote. He's no Perot. I don't even think Barr will be in the debates.
I'd like to see where you got the 90% figure for old white people, because I do not belive it.
McCain has had months to work his advantage while the Democrats continue to run against one another and his advantage is currently non-existent. Obama's superior grassroots organisation and vastly superior fundraising will convert the voters in droves. As for 90% of Hillary's core going for McCain...utter BS. Her base is old dems. McCain is pro abortion, against gay marraige and staying in Iraq.
You don't believe alot of things FalconX2000, just like you probably don't believe Bush won Florida in 2000 - though all the votes have been recounted over and over and shows Bush won by a larger margin then orginally stated. The truth is, you don't believe it because you really don't want to believe it. I'm going on speculation with 90% but I'm going on a positive hunch that particular generation of white people will not vote for a black man who associated himself with a white hating preacher.
For the record, the Surpreme Court ruled in denial of a recount. So let the facts be known that a recount (though legitimately started) was stopped in its tracks by the elected government at the time and ruled null and void. For those whos intellegence level is unable to comprehend, thats means it never happened.
For the record and the facts be known, that no matter which denial you come up with, Bush still won Florida - by a greater margin than orginally put forth. By the way in case you forgot, Florida Supreme Court ruled 9-0 in favor for a recount (oh and those were 9 Democrats). The reality is that, and your intelligence cannot comprehend this either, the whole "2000 recount" episode was nothing but Democratic Party bullshit because they lost and were trying to steal the election.
I understand your point but you exclude very key facts. Its looks real good to make a ruling after there is nothing that can be done about it. If I stop what you're "already doing" and wait until its too late to start up again only to say that I rule in favor of you doing what you cant do?.. ..thats how you trick the world.
Plus you are underestimating your own party's hatred. It's clear from the recent primaries that it's not going to get any better for Obama in the fall. And this is not going to end after Obama gets the nomination either. Let me ask you FalconX2000, from everything you've seen in these past 5-6 months, do you honestly believe the majority of Hillary's supporters will vote for Obama? If you do believe that, your naive to the point of utter cluelessness.
Ahh, up to this point I thought I was arguing with an open minded thinker. I see you're just a political agenda pusher with a slightly better disguise than normal. Congratulations on wasting my time.
Slightly better disguise? What disguise am I suppose to be wearing. Your "open minded thinking" is so illogical that not only can you address what I've been typing, your going to call be a political agenda pusher? How original! Congratulations, your a dumbass!
So how did those 2010 elections work out for ya Democrats? AHHAHHAAHHAHHAHAHH!!

Slight typo - meant to say the majority of Hillary's ironclad supporters. The majority of Hillary's supporters will vote for Obama.
