@gusherb94 Try a whole roll of toilet paper on camera. Someone did on a Cadet 3 and it flushed! Sad to say, the Cadet 3 might be better than this. This toilet seemed to struggle.
@gusherb94 Try a whole roll of toilet paper. Someone did on a Cadet 3 and it flushed! Sad to say, the Cadet 3 might be better than this. This toilet seemed to struggle.
@toiletfan1 Don't mistake the slow flush of this toilet for struggling. It didn't struggle one bit. The cadet 3 will plug alot easier then this toilet. I know, I have both.
@gusherb94 I will send you a video I found of a Cadet 3 flushing a whole roll of toilet paper. And this toilet struggled not because of the slow flush. Because it started to fill up and then it gurgled louder than usual.
This is why we should have stopped at 1.6GPF toilets, it simply can't get the shit down anymore, this toilet's fucking awesome. Fucking 1.28GPF, they're 100% unsanitary and useless. I say 1.6GPF for piss, and 3.5GPF for shit. I win.
OMG!! It flushed down that many stuff down an American Standard Cadet!? That dude flushed it down with no problem!! I didn't know a toilet can flush that many. Neither a cadet.
I work in water/wastewater. Those low flush toilets don't use much water... that's true.
The problem is they use so little water that the solids don't flow in the pipes properly. Water is the carrier for the human waste but there's grease and other materials that go in there that stick to the inner walls of the pipe. This creates a need to flush the sewers more often which uses a lot of water. On a private residence they also tend to plug up septic fields.
Older toilets were allowed to use more water than modern toilets, back in the day it was normal for toilets to flush between 4 and 5 gallons per flush. Nowadays it's government regulated to no more than 1.6 gallons and it's gonna be taking another step down to 1.2 during the new decade.
So, say if I put this much toilet paper, in a modern toilet, the ones that have the buttons that say poop or pee, if I press pee, with the tp go down? ^__^ XD
@Beldar4214 There is. The American Standard Champion 4. I have two of them installed in my home and they work better than this one and they only use less than 1.5 gallons of water. Also, only one flush does the job and you will never need a plunger again!
@gusherb94 Theres this store in my town called habistore and its like a homedepot with furniture and tv and thing like that. Its like a huge home depot. But alot of the stuff people donate. One of the things is toilets. A hotel donated 120 1970s white eljer emblems. I called it eljerpaloosa!! It was amazing. I also saw a couple older american standards with the gothic american-standard logo. They were the cadet model of toilet. That store always has toilets from rennovations.
WOW I would be in heaven if we had a store as big as that here with that many toilets! the local habitat for humanity store never has many good toilets and they way over charge for them. a 1970s Cadet is THE toilet that I've been looking for.
@gusherb94 Yeah its kinda like a habitat for humanity. But the one I go to is called habistore and there are always hotel renovations and a lot of the hotels on the east side of my town has the 3.5 to 5 gallon toilets and they come from those hotels. I saw a urc atlas there but they also had a cadet It was such a hard desision I did'nt end up getting eiter one of them. :,( But u know what they say u'll always find sometin better out there. :)
It appears that this model has a "booster" jet at the front, opposite the exit. My all-time favorite had the big exit at the front and a booster jet at the back. This made the S-curve visible on the sides. It was ugly, but who cares?! This thing would thrust everything out with power, not like new models that leave you wondering if it will make it out or not.
24 hours ago I was at my grandma's house she still has the same toilet the was put in the house in 1963 when it was new and the toilets are still used every day! I was there last night like 10:00pm and i cloged it up we had to plung it she also has a 80's microwave oven stove and has a 1984 tv that has a snes with super mario bros on it and a 1996 tv and 2003 windows xp the only new thing they have is a 2009 tv in there room.
Hmm 1963... I think that would have been the newer model Cadet by then, they still had an excellent flush but not quite as good as the previous generation. It sounds like that one is due for an extensive overhaul and that should get it working like brand new again.
Whatever, I really don't care about your opinion or anyone elses, in-fact it puzzles me why you would take the time to write such a comment, cuz I truly DON'T CARE!
wow your lucky u got a strong toilet i have an American Standard and almost every time i take a dump i gotta bring out the plunger and that doesnt work most of the time so my mom has to use some soap boiling water and some other stuff to get it unclogged u my friend hav the best toilet i have ever seen in my life **************
its American Standard 1.6 gal/ 6ltrs. and its from December 05, 1995 thats what it says on the back if thats what you meen by age so the toilet is 14yrs old
Thats because the gov't mandated that all toilets flush with only 1.6 gallons of water. Now toilet companies have learned to use 1.6 gallons more effectively.
Now theres a classic! I've seen several of these "Standard" Cadets flush with just 2 or 3 gallons and flush better than the Cadet II with a tank full (even though I like the Cadet II)
thats a good one. my grandparents had one, i dropped many big thick loads in it, all of which went down, no double flushing required
they now have a TOTO drake, which is also nice it vibrates the floor when flushed
