The people who are controlling the world right now are geniusses,no doubt. The question is, do we want to be controlled ? I don`t. My opinion is, we should expose these people for what they are, and for what they are trying to do. Thanks for your video.
Not quite sure how your two examples relate to net neutrality legislation in respect to telecom companies... and I think you could have been a lot more concise in your arguments... but wooooo! Save the internet!
its what i feel is a term the double whammy - on one side we are terrorised into the horrors of the internet that we must control and do something about, and on the other here we have business interests who can better control, monitor and change the internet, so either way - we end up saving the internet
i agree with karma9800.we will lose the freedom of the internet that we are so used to as it is human nature to take control and limit the freeedom of things that are in way a threaten.
Thanks - its an observation that on one hand of course we need to apply control and monitoring - despite having Echelon already - yet at the same time there is always considerable money to be made - and considerable advantages
No you will pay your ISP for access - you simply wont notice that other sites are no longer there. Basically its like corporate entities will control what you have access to - Just now the net has reeeeasonable freedom but like I said - you try and access islamic sites that portray the alternative view to the west - they are not on our w w w ;)
Ok, now..I'm trying to understand this, but I still don't know what there's such a big fuss over the internet or anything. I'm on the neutrality as well, only because I have been ill-informed of any of this information.
In my view its an inevitability of control over the internet. Very basically corporate entites seek to take control of the internets bandwidth and access - meaning much smaller sites and companies will not be able to host to such a large audience as the flow and control will be in the hands of groups like AT&T etc however this is illusionary as there is many sites already inaccesible form the UK and USA alike
I have friends on the web in such countries as libya, lebannon, indonesia, china, burma, nepal, and even Iran. Certain websites are not available to me from my place in the UK. This is because they offer views and somewhat extremist views from that which may be labelled as detrimental to the war on terror.
in the example of youtube all content we upload is and belongs to youtube - in the terms and conditions of ISP and webhosting - the content is permitted by them - none of us have control or freedom of the internet - it is permitted by the owners of it - I believe we shall see considerable change in its "freedom" in time - an opinion I seemingly am free to think at this time ;)
How specious! Of course we want to protect children & prevent terrorism! Censorship will NOT accomplish this. It will present a laughable hurdle for criminals. It will only galvanize corporate power. Freedom cannot be graded. You underestimate both the difficulty of stifling communication between individuals & the tendencies for capitalist favoritism.
an opinon by itself is not intended to be right or wrong - it is a matter of viewpoint be it considered specious or not - censorship does not intend to stop the 2 points mentioned - it merely intends to censor - the internet is permitted and monitored via such projects as echelon - for such things as security

So..WHY the FUCK would they plan on taking down such minimal sites, even if they cause a little to none hindrance on their part?
KissMeImPunk 5 years ago
So that means we'll have to pay to go to sites or whatever the Hell it is?

We DO own the Internet, for the Internet is CONTENT, not wires. Yes, we pay them to maintain those wires, but they do not own our messages & images.
