Remember children, STOCKPILE THE HELL OUTTA THE SCROLL SUBWEAPON IN STAGE 3.....its your best friend through the game! I hated those damn things that rolled into balls and launched themselves at you....fuckers..
@RickyMoss: The box art was lifted from a cover of one of the original TMNT comics by Mirage Studios in the 1980s. If I'm not mistaken, in the original Mirage TMNT comics (and prior to the '80s cartoon), the Turtles were only distinguishable by their personalities and weapons. Otherwise, they were identical and all were red colors.
This music can be a nice replacement of "Base II/Stage 4" from "Contra" instead of repeating the same music from Stage II, because just like this stage, both of them takes place underground
I still play this game on my original NES .they both play just fine. i took care of my original NES over th years. most young people are not familiar with it. they just download it these days but i'm old-school. these music is so underground 1989 cool turtles style.good times from my childhood.
When I first played this game I played a pirated version of it which didn't show that it was made by Konami on the start screen. And when I got to this level, I said to myself: "Hey, this music sounds so Contra-ish!" Then I researched and when I found out that this game was made by Konami, everything got clear. :D
Ultra Games was actually a division/spinoff of Konami at the time. If I remember correctly is was created to get around a limitation Nintendo had put in place about how many games a publisher could release a year.
The Ultra label was on TMNT 2: The Arcade Game for the NES as well.
I remember playing a bit of this on my electric organ, by ear, ages ago. Never learnt how to use sheet music before, but I'd like to see if someone's tabbed this tune or something.
You wouldn't happen to have had an imitation NES, like I did, by any chance? That might explain why the music's faster here, as opposed to how we used to hear it.
@jimbostube2: Agreed. I could have actually seen this music working in the original MSX version of Metal Gear as Solid Snake gets closer to finding Metal Gear TX-55.
@TDavis54321 To me, they looked like mutant Porcupos from Super Mario Bros. 2 / Doki Doki Panic. And yes, @Dunpizzle, those porcupines were HARD as hell to beat.
TMNTVGMusic, any chance of you uploading the Turtles Manhattan Project game music, it has some excellent music, especially the Boss theme and the Surfboard Stage theme
Konami still is one of the top composers of Video Game music. Look too Guitar Freaks/Drummania, Beatmania, Pop'n'music, and too a lesser extent Dance Dance Revolution for proof.
this is the song i heard before my game froze getting to the technodrome, took me almost 12 years to touch the game again.

I've always wondered why all the ninja turtles wore the same colored mask on the game cover.
Renegade0056 1 year ago
@Renegade0056
It's from the original comic. They all wore red, but the inside pages were black and white so it didn't really matter.

Actually, TMNT parts 2 and 3 were made by konami. This was made by ULTRA. But the beat does sound like something Contra.

Is this a speed-up?
The soundtrack didn`t go THAT fast.

SaviourV 2 years ago
Nope... this is not a speed-up because
this music is from NTSC-version of the game
but ,in the PAL-version the music its a lot slower.
stratomagic 2 years ago 2
Ahh, okey. So that`s the reason, huh?
I have the PAL version.

Anybody else feel that this tune should have appeared in a Metal Gear game? It sounds very stealthish. Your thoughts.

Yeah I could see this in metal gear, maybe a little too upbeat but I still think it could fit.
