  • This was a big "slow dance" favorite during that glorious year 1977, when I was in junior high in Hawaii.

I had no idea it was two ordinary-looking guys from Leominster, MA. Pretty cool.

  • Lenny LeBlanc, is from Leominster, MA, a milltown in Central MA, that oddly enough had two one-time wonders, Rick Pinette and Oak with their 1980 hit, King of the Hill, and this number one hit, from Lenny LeBlanc, and Pete Carr. Both songs had great meaning to me (as I lived just north of Lenny's hometown at that time, in Townsend, MA. I remember romantically rollerskating to this song, at the old Whalom Park when this piece hit the charts!

  • I can remember this song as a teenager and getting my license and car and hearing this song on the radio and changing it like am going to do now!

  • saw these dudes in tenn. bout 77-78 they were better in concert than i would have thought

  • Different from the original version.

  • @NANDIKHANNA Hi there!! How so??

  • Still sounds great...

  • A time when we had REAL music!!!

  • Is that wah-wah pedal to the extreme at the beginning?

  • thumbs up if you once fell

  • I've heard so many of the songs on YouTube when I was a kid... but had no idea what most of the singers/bands looked like. Hurray for YouTube, lol.

  • One of my favorite songs!

  • So much emotion in this song! You have to fall in love with it!

  • Best beard ever.

  • Lenny becoming a christian was the best thing to happen to music.

  • not sure if any of you know this....lenny leblanc later became a prominent Christian songwriter/musician...he co wrote ABOVE ALL with paul baloche made famous by michael w smith singing it

  • great song!

  • i remember this song when i was a little bitty thing.

  • I want that BC Rich Eagle!!!!

  • 1 person already fell

  • Its such a beautifully haunting song...I love it.

  • Yes, the 70s and 80s are sooo missed! They don't write or sing like they used to. Miss those decades much!!!

  • Obleo and Spring who loved and lost because of the fear which arrived in the late winter when all was drained, not giving the springtime a chance to arrive, and the ring was returned, and it all died for nothing. And all we have left is this song. So sad. So sad. Obleo

  • Wow, what a beautiful song! I've always liked tihs song. Another gem of a song from a great era gone by. Thanks so much for all who upload these songs and performances from long ago. In some ways, it's like going back in time. I love it and at the same time it makes me sad - but I still love it no matter how it makes me feel. Cheers to YouTube and all who upload these timeless classics!

  • This song probably comes the closest to what it sounds like to fall in love.

  • Pete left the music business for a while and worked in computers. My ex husband worked with him for a while. I heard some great stories about folks he has played music with. Lenny does praise music and lives in the same small city as Pete (and myself). Both are great guys and uber-talented.

  • A beautiful song. It makes me feel good. Thanks for posting.

  • I never hear this song anymore...

I thought back and it took me 3 years of searching Google (once in a while) to find out who they were...

They used to play this great song on the NYC Lite station a lot back in the 80's.

This is a great song...Especially the chorus harmony...

  • Like this if you still listen it in 2011:)

  • Heard this on one of the former late night flamethrowers: WWWE (3WE) Cleveland back in the 80's before thy became talk.

  • Where has all the music gone?......to todays music industry/producers...SCREW YOU!!!!

  • Just heard this the other day on the beach....and I wrote your name in the sand ! Wish you were here !

  • When a romantic song touches the deepest part of you, the part even you did not know and you can cry and dream in a few minutes, then you realise you are sensitive, you are a real human and you did not forget that loving feeling in this sea of materialism, you can smile, you found love, and I found love with this song...

  • @RUIZHUIDOBRO that was a really corny,mushy comment but I liked it and it's so true! lol : )

  • This song reminds me of 1978, eighth grade and going out with my first boyfriend. I want the 70's back!

  • one of our all time greats in music juat love this song and these guys,, truely blessed .. we dont hear any of this great music in this day and age..

  • Great harmony!!

  • I just saw Lenny LeBlanc tonight in concert. He is married to the love his life and still giving his testimony of how he turned away from pop music to Christian music due to his strong faith in God. His voice just melts you and he still sings a bit of "Falling" during his concert. He is very talented and went on to write the Christian favorite "Above All". He lives in Alabama and came through the latest round of tornadoes just losing many trees in his yard. He is quite the voice for God.

  • Love love love this song. Brings back so many memories! Tks for posting this song!

  • finally..!! it took FOREVER to find this dang song..!! WOOT!

  • Simply Beautiful!

  • Le plus beau slow des années 70.

  • Le plus beau slow des années 70...

  • Penetrates right to the heart!!!! SO BEAUTIFUL doesn't even begin to describe this Incredible piece of art:) I'm Humbled as a songwriter Norman Saleet

  • The "BEST"

  • I SO LOVE this song... one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES, the 70s my Era... smiles...

  • Lenny is the worship leader at my church. That makes this video even better.

  • @moody609 aww PLEASE tell Lenny we miss his voice... some of the GREATEST music ever made, and brings back warm memories of simpler times... smiles. PEACE

  • @moody609 Tell him I said he has one of the most soothing beautiful voices I have ever heard. I could listen this to Falling over and over again. I remember listening to this as little girl when my Mom played it. Now I'm all grown up and it takes me back to a much simpler time.

  • @moody609 Yeah this was just a few short years before he got saved.

  • soft rock at its best...

  • I was barely starting to walk when I remember hearing this beautiful song. My mom would play the heck out of it. I grew up with 70's music to me the greatest music of all time. I never knew who sang it or the name of it and now I thank God I came across it now. I loved it then, I love it now, and this will always remain one of my favorites. Thank you Lenny and Peter and God bless you both.

  • Pete Carr, if you read this, I'm sorry if you got offended when I asked you if Lenny ever witnessed to ya 'bout Jesus. Billboard's #79 song of '78. Lenny and Pete hit #11 AC, #13 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • I play this and I could not get ANYONE to believe that this was a real song. I LOVE IT today as much as I did back in the 70's!!!

  • @shvugga ME TOO! (:

  • I hadn't heard this song in years. I came upon it by accient and am glad I did. I love it!

  • I LOVE this song. I wanted to download it and couldn't find it anywhere. I then stumbled upon Lenny LeBlanc's website and emailed him asking if he had a copy of the song and that I was willing to buy it. Instead, he sent it to me, rather, his wife sent it to me as an MP3 via email which I thought was the KINDEST and most thoughtful thing ever. Wonderful people.

  • This just HAS to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written. And their harmonics are perfect!! I was in 9th grade when this came out and I was with a girl I "Fell" for...Angela Haskins.

  • @LeeECarter I Remember this song so fondly, one of my FAVS and it still resonates to me today as one of the MOST Beautiful songs have Ever heard... (:

  • Bravo!!! muy bonita canción!!!

  • great song.......

  • one of THE BEST songs Ever! they were good... shame they didn't stick around long as Leblanc & Carr, great harmony...

  • LIPSYNC MIMING, NOT LIVE performance! great recording though

  • @geogodley all AB performances were, most television like this was done to a track, even the "live" versions were usually tracks recorded concert style specifically for that performance.

  • @mickatmidnight it's kind of funny now though too...even in a live concert (documentaries, or t.v. specials), the singer and/or artist sometimes still lip synchs or they lip synch over their own recording if you listen close enough. I loved AB back in the 70's being a kid. Thanks for posting...BEAUTIFUL song!!!

  • What a beautiful romantic love song.

  • one of my FAV songs EVER! nothing like the 70s, my ERA to bring back sweet memories... this is a classic, always loved it...

  • Lenny was always very handsome and still is. I liked him with the beard. :):) hehe

  • JUST AWESOME!!!

  • love this song!... but geez guys, don't dress up for the concert or anything...beautiful melody. LOL

  • I ADORE THIS SONG!!!! WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF THE YEAR MY HUSBAND AND I GOT MARRIED!!!! LOVE THEIR HARMONY, and the fact that LENNY IS NOW A CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN ARTIST!!!! WHAT A TALENT!!!!

  • One of My All time Ballads from the 70's. It doesn't seem like it's been 33 years when this was a hit. Why can't todays Music be this Beautiful?

  • What ever happened to LeBlanc & Carr?

  • Pete Carr continued his career a few more years as lead guitar at Muscle Shoals Sound playing on most of the hit songs you heard in the 70's (Bob Segar, Rod Stewart, Paul Simon, etc) Lenny is now a major name in the contemporary, praise genre and both still do their thang as well as ever. They both came from Daytona Beach. Pete came to Bama in 1966 at age 15 with Gregg & Duane Allman and the rest is history..

  • @mickatmidnight

Pete Carr never got the recognition for his abilities like he should have. This song is so beautiful alone, but all the more beautiful because of Pete's singing and guitar.... love it.

  • @Anita66608 I couldn't agree more. That and a nice fellow.

  • @mickatmidnight thanks for posting the song and the info. This song brings back some great memories. Beautiful song.

  • @mickatmidnight Pete produced the hit Motorcycle Mama for Sailcat when he was about 17 or so.

  • @JaxGeminiSouthPaw LOL, yeah, he was 21. I've been playing with Johnny Wyker since about 1987, we did an online radio station for about 8 years too, never a dull moment. The many nights spent jamming with Pete and Wyker making up song after song to what we were in there playing... TRULY MAGICAL!!!

  • @parkwood64 Lenny is now a Christian singer. Still looks the same, albeit with grey hair and just a goatee. LOL Still an amazing and talented singer like he always was. :)

  • @parkwood64 Lenny LeBlanc became a Christian singer/songwriter. God bless!

  • This song was so great! I miss the seventies so bad!

  • pigurine, hope your wife doesn't read this!

  • hendrixzilla, that's funny, man.

Anyway, this song reminds me of my first love when I was

a kid in high school, her name was Martha. I haven't seen

her in a looooong time, I don't know what became of her, but

I still miss her a great deal. I couldn't appreciate what I had

    in my hands back then.

Now I'm fat, lazy, and old, and still live with my parents,

and she's probably fat and ugly, married and with ten kids in

    Mexico.

And NO......I don't have a wife. Lucky me.

  • Comment removed

  • It was her sister.

  • This is the song I heard when I met a woman 30 years ago to this day I cannot forget. Her memory haunts me, as I knew it would. Love is strange, I had to make a choice my current wife of 25 years or her. I never saw or heard from her again.

  • i heard this song wne iam elementary school way back 1977

its a great song i ever heard!!!!!

  • now lenny's praise songs are even more beautiful.

  • heiwa2007....

Yes, they are in praise to the Lord.

  • I never knew LeBlanc & Carr performed on American Bandstand. A really great song! Thank you for posting this nostalgic video clip.

  • oooh i love this song thank soo much for posting this!!

  • There's nothing else like this. Brilliant.

  • A time when we had REAL music!!!

  • @hardlines4 YES!!!

  • I was at a gathering several years ago at Lenny's house when his wife surprised him by giving him a copy of this dvd for Christmas. He had never seen it before. Priceless.

  • So nice to see a live performance of this all time greatest love songs!

  • @70sPopRock I couldn't have said this better myself. Your words are so true my freind. Brought me back in time, that's for sure. cheers.

  • i love it song

  • un real!..Been looking for this for years...the love of my life is forever in my memory to this song. Thanks ever so much.

  • FYI, Pete Carr has the opening guitar soly on Bob Segars "Mainstreet" Talented NO DOUBT!! LOVE IT

  • I just discovered this evening from another You Tube post that Pete played lead in the studio recording of Mainstreet instead of Drew Abbott. Do you know if he might have played the solo on Seger's 'No Man's Land' also? Which guitarist is Pete in this video?

  • Right, That's Pete on Main Street, Old Time Rock N' Roll, Fire Lake, Katmandu, Night Moves, etc plus the rest of the Swampers at Muscle Shoals Sound on most of his studio cuts from those days. Pete is the one on the right. Check the videos on my homepage here for some good footage of them in studio recording Torn Between Two Lovers and playing live with Ronee Blakely on Saturday Night Live, plus have two up with Pete playing with Hank, Jr at the Opry, BEFORE Hank's accident. THANKS FOR ASKING!!!

  • This is just BEAUTIFUL and full of raw emotion! Just beautiful! Thank you for posting this.

  • I was driving down the road with Pete awhile back and Old Time Rock n Roll, it was actually kind of cool sitting next to the guy that was playing guitar on it. I asked him jokingly, say Pete, that's you playing guitar there isn't it? Pete leaned over and listened hard to the speaker a second and said, "Yeah. Yeah it is." Then we pulled into KFC and had some chicken. :)

  • Thanks for posting this vid Mick. Never have seen it sung live before !! About 2 years ago I received a personlized autographed picture from Lenny Leblanc after I checked out his website. Super nice guy !! I believe too that in 1978 this is the only song to ever remain in the top of the charts for 26 weeks!! Found this song on cd Super Hits of the 70's volume 25 in case anyone was trying to locate it.

  • Great song. Almost never hear it on the radio.

  • Yeah I know it. I did hear it awhile back in a store that had a local station tuned in on their sound system. Was nice to hear.

  • I don't remember seeing them performing this great song back in the day. What show is this? I remember I bought this single (7") as soon as it was available. I love this song...but why do I always get so choked up when I hear it? Oh, well, thanks much for the post!

  • It's from AB

  • ditto, i get teary-eyed and all. almost makes me want to find the right girl! been searching for this song for almost 30 years! beautiful. the kind of emotion that only occurs in youth

  • WOW!!!!

  • I met Pete Carr at the Fizz in Sheffield around 2002. Muscle Shoals is the place to be.

  • Great post friend. They had potential but the 70's was poisioned with payola. I still have a scratchy copy of Midnight. Still love LeBlanc & Carr, Starbuck, & Pablo Cruise.

  • Yeah, but I think a lot of it had to do with them being the opening act for Skynyrd on the tour when the plane went down. That bummed everybody out for awhile and Pete actually got out of music for a while. He opened an early computer store, I think back down around Daytona Beach where he's from, called Pete Carr's PC's but came back to Sheffield and the guitar not long after and is still there today.

  • Never thought i'd be able to see them singing this song, thanks for posting! Awesome!

  • Thank you very this rare performance. Awesome song!

  • GoOd sOnG!!!!
