@ azibizs - unfortunately, the sten was renowned for being a very temperamental and unreliable gun, which suffered frequently from jamming. Combining this with the fact that the gun was put together while being concealed under a jacket as not to draw attention means that there may have been a mistake made with it's assembly before the assassination attempt took place.
What a pity Heydrich wasn't captured by good Czech Christians, who could then publicly castrate him before dragging him around town behind a trolley.....bleeding & screaming in agony as we pour gasoline on him, set him aflame, then fire hot-lead into him.........Allelujah!!!
efc23, it had to be done, because of it's "psychological impact" mentioned in the film also. For many people in Czechoslovakia it was just the support they needed - they knew that the resistance had its purpose and that they are not alone in this. It had also a huge international impact - Czechs and Slovaks had been viewed as collaborative nations till then, but after that... it was not so clear.

I must say to all that after long 60 years - in Prague will finaly be a memorial to those heroes in the place of atentat. On May 27th we took part to revealing of foundation-stone for this memorial and next year in same date will be revelation of new memorial to those brave men ( and of course women from czech resistance ).
I have read the book and seen the film versions of this story. It is truly the most remarkable tale of bravery.I am planning a trip this year to Prague, to pay homage to the brave heroes
Visiting the Crypt was a personal Mecca for me. I've been twice now and laid flowers. It truly is one of the most powerful and emotional stories of human courage I've come across.
Amazing video. I've seen the crypt and church. The video makes want to see it again. I would say you should make the full length movie, cause you are very talented.
I read Callum MacDonald's book after seeing the film many years ago and was determined to visit the church. Last Tuesday I stood in the crypt with my son and paid respects to the gallant Czechs who gave their lives so that people like us could be free from tyranny.
I was very moved by the whole experience. This film is a wonderful tribute to the Czech people.

What a shame the bravery of those men was waisted on such a pointless operation.
If Heydrich hadn't been assinated, the Allies would still have won the war.Too many people died in reprisals to justify the mission.
History gives you the facts......but we are left to wonder how things would have turned out if a different path had been followed.
