USA been taken over since the federal reserve opened. The stranglehold is just getting smaller and smaller. It will get so small that we will be total slaves before we know it. We already are but it's gonna go from bad to worst.
He's a socialist....Loved him at ESPN. But he went from Joe Six-Pack to Joe Stalin very quickly! He's good....and I admire his talent, but he certainly sold his soul for a huge paycheck. And that's OK. Actually it's great. That's what's capitalism is all about.
The funny thing is, the very idea (concept) of capitalism, that he rails against nightly, is exactly why he is making millions of dollars a year.
If he is as smart as everyone says, maybe he answers that ironic situation on his show.
Pointing it at other people is still freedom of speech but it's also the freedom to hurt others. In other words, booming at other people in way interferes with the ability to freely express your opinion; however, being loud and physically damaging another persons hearing is physical assault. All I am saying is, it's not freedom of speech if it's not equal freedom of speech. More money means louder voice, which means more people hear what you say and not the other guy.
"Of the people, by the corporations, and for the corporations."
The new Supreme Court decision will allow a corporation to run false attack ads against anyone they wish. That means they can now EXTORT every politician in the U.S. to do whatever they want for profit.
If you think you're getting screwed by health insurance companies, Wall Street, and credit card companies now -- just wait. All consumer protection will be the first to go.
Because the N.Y. Times or conservative newspapers run an editorial is irrelevant. They DON'T run ATTACK ADS on TV.
Any corporation can now tell legislators they'll be the target of relentless attack ads if they vote AGAINST corporate wishes
Credit card & insurance companies, banks & Wall Street can now dictate to legislators & EXTORT any politician in America. If they object, they're on the HIT LIST. They dont even need to do it, just threaten.
If Corporations lack free speech then The New York Times, Fox News, You Tube and most Churches in America lack free speech (since most Churches are incorporated.)
That would allow Congress to regulate every newspaper article, every television show, every video or comment on you tube and most sermons.
They don't lack free speech; they lack the ability to buy more speech and more representation in government. They are also amoral institutions that involve themselves in stifling competition; now they can do it with the government with republican blessings.
Free speach is the greatest thing in the world but this is one the worst ideas ever. PERIOD. Now big corporations pretty much can sway the goverment anyway they want. They have more money than God himself and with those kinds of funds the ways this could go are endless....
It just really makes no sense. In 1880 something corporations got the rights of people even though people are flesh and bone. A corporation has no physical presence other than a document, therefore it cannot think. Logically, a corporation is no more a person than the machine that filled your water bottle. They pay taxes not because they are living beings, but because they are income streams of groups of living beings.
@TCF2148 so youre saying groups should get fewer rights than individuals? Government can pass laws affecting groups, but that same group does not enjoy the freedom to speak out against that action during an election campaign? Doesnt make any sense.
Groups are made up of individuals that have already had their say. The corporation is just a piece of property owned by the individual(s) within the group. It's a widely accepted belief (and written into corporate law) that a corporation is just a way for people to insulate themselves from liability. Aren't the laws affecting corporations written because they use that insulation for ill will?
The people who are members of those associations HAVE A VOTE. Why does the corporation need a voice when the people it's comprised of can already voice their opinions?
