I don't understand how they can just pull out random complaints, especially of things that nobody would even notice. This car is perfect, classy, and not in-your-face like a "beamer" or "mercedes." Volvo for life.
I have had a 54 plate s60 d5 2.4 fully dealer serviced 80 000 miler for about 3 day now, and it has to be said it is a beautiful car. Full leather, loads of toys, plenty to smile about. But as I recently found out, in the snow it is awful, nowhere near as good as my Passat tdi. Also its a very hard ride compared to the vw, takes a lot harder revving to get going, and is sadly disappointing. Id buy another Passat any day if finances permitted, but I doubt Id buy another Volvo. Sorry folks.
Great Great Car! I had a chance for a test drive(the 2010-2011 model), with the 2.0 diesel, 163 hp, 400 Nm. Very very nice experience! You can see my experience with Volvo S60 by searching "Nicu Naum Volvo S60".
I loved my 2001 2.4T auto - one of the great all time saloon shapes. I had a RX8 after that but now have a S40 T5 - another great and totally reliable Volvo with great sounding 5 cylinder engine - just not quite such a nice shape...
I drive through Germany quite a lot and very often the fastest things on the roads are VW Passats and Volvos like S80 or V70... It's not only that they are fast, but obviously drivers and cars must feel confortable driving with those speeds for a long periods of time. I drive BMW 3series and can't keep up.
I have a 2002 S60 2,4i, 150 000miles, no problems ever. The sound of the 5-cylinder engine is very nice as well as the comfort. My next car will be a S60 again of course...
I have an S60 D5 and it has just turned 168,000 miles. It has full service history from new and i can tell you this much. It doesnt rattle, knock, squeak or bang and it still has amazing grunt from no revs at all. The bodywork is immaculate apart from a few stone chips which any 2002 car would have. I may consider selling it when it reaches 200,000 then ill buy another S60 diesel.
"Cabin might not match Audi quality"... Well I've got a 130,000 miler that doesn't rattle or squeak and still cleans up like new.
Otherwise a fair review I think. It is cramped in the back for a big car, and the handling isn't anything to rave about (although it's not bad either). But what it is is a quick, good looking, safe, reliable car with a brilliant 5 pot engine, that is silly value. My immaculate, full Volvo historied 2.0T manual cost me £2500 with 120k on the clock earlier this year.
the cunt that made that video has not a clue, we have 5 at work and also have a bmw 535, and an S320 and I can tell you from experience they are one of the most economical cars and comfortable cars I have ever driven the door of cars 100bhp more, bmw one of the most hardest drives you can have there like fucking go carts the stupid cunt
dude my 2001 S60 T5 has over 190,000 miles on it. Its been maintained and the 0-60 and 0-100 time is a lot quicker than the factory times. Its mostly stock only an air intake and everything is like new. The leather is of an amazing quality and exterior is flawless except for 1 small dent. Volvo knows how to make great cars. Check out the video of my car.
I drive this car everyday, and I fail to understand most bad comments of this video. I find it a very good car. No worts or better than a Mercedes or Audi, BMW...Just differente, Volvo for life!
He fails to mention the fact that the car is an eight year old design. When I bought mine in '01, it handled better than most (with the exception of the 3 series, of course). And he's right, the seats are amazingly comfortable!
What are you on about? All cars lose most of their value within 2-4 years. After 10 years it'll be worth hardly anything. Volvos depreciate very heavily over here. I think its brilliant because I wont be buying one new for a few years.
S60r is next on my shopping list. If only the cost of servicing volvos wasnt so high.
"a half decent drive" what about the 850, the S70, the V70 etc etc etc. get some information before you put down a car that is much better than a mercedes, audi or bmw.

depreciation on volvos...you're joking right?
they barely loose any significant value until 10-15 years on.
