Marvin Gaye was a prince among men,his music taught us all about life,in saying this he was a true artist,i miss him,he was a teacher, thanks for the music of life Marvin,r.i.p.
There really are no words that can adequately describe Marvin's talents. They truly were God given. No singer has ever touched my soul as Marvin's music has. Through the years, his music has taught me so much about life. Although he left us a legacy of music behind to enjoy, my one regret is that I never got to see him perform. Believing in God continues to give me faith that I will see my teacher one day. R.I.P. Marvin, Love you brother.
No artist...absolutely no other artist...ever....completely leaves it out there like Marvin. Heart, soul, such emotion....unequaled. That's what really defines Marvin Gaye amongst all other recording artists. It so blows me away to hear something I've not heard before like this particular recording of "God is my friend". Hey, who else can make a song as boring as our National Anthem a total work of art. Thanks you for sharing this.
This b-side is just incredible, and to think, it's a B-SIDE!! Most artists can't even compare when you consider the artistry and magic contained here, again, not even the A-side. it's hard to comprehend all that is Marvin Gaye. Thank you for this!
Beautiful song and words. I've always love Marvin Gaye's style of singing. His voice is so soothing huh. Wish he was still around. Thanks for sharing this.
Five reasons why there is no god; A) Total absence from the natural world. No sign of a god, before, during or after, natural disastres B) The absolute absence of favoritism towards believers. Even churches need lightning-rods to protect them from god. C) The absence of any reaction, when crimes are committed in his name. C) The suffering of the innocent. D) The fact that human birth is beset with more problems than any animal. Why, if we are the masterpiece of his creation ?
This track originally was done by the Monitors and the song was "just to keep you satisfied" which Marvin helped produced. Then later Marvin used this beat for this song.
top producers get the original tracks easily as the labels want to make money with the sample rights, Kanye for example has all the masters from stax in his basement.
I feel you on this my friend, I too felt it as I think about this song by the late great Marvin Gaye...she loved it--his version is a tear jerker!!! I don't call him god nor jesus christ but the feeling is still the same, Shalom!!!
It truly is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard...even if I'm not a christian, nevertheless a powerful song by the late GREAT MARVIN GAYE, R.I.P...my brother!!!!
He was such a pure artist and singer, with the ability to convey his emotions and make you feel them just as strongly as he did. To me there will never be another one like him.

also the sample is slowed down, if you run the low pass filter over it with a little envelope it gets rid of most of the singing but not all of it
if u listen to the instrumental, the voice is still there
MrKkonEl 2 years ago
sampling one side in stereo without the vocals
the MPC will let your sample only left, only right, both in stereo, or both in mono
MrKkonEl 2 years ago
possible but i wouldnt rule out that Dilla and Common got the original tracks from Motown as they have cleared the sample anyway.
Eurobubble70 2 years ago
nah Jay Electronica used this beat first off a Jay Dee beat tape and if you hear the instrumental you can hear the voice in there at a low volume
I chopped this sample along time ago and got rid of the voice just the same
even if u listen to the Common Sense record you can hear the voice in there
MrKkonEl 2 years ago
@MrKkonEl How did you turn down the voice?

top producers get the original tracks easily as the labels want to make money with the sample rights, Kanye for example has all the masters from stax in his basement.
Eurobubble70 2 years ago
nah it doesn't work that way
they don't give out the master reels, they record them to digital files and you can use them that way
Kanye has access to Stax's vault and so does Pete Rock I believe

Simply beautiful and heartbreaking. Shows the heart and soul behind the voice. Still the standard for emotional R&B vocalization.
