  • Take off your rings, when you are cooking! Wearing rings while cooking is disgusting!

  • nice

  • Please take the rings off!!!!

  • oh god look at all these crybabies bawwwwwwww

the salsa looks pretty good C:

  • Have a nice breath for 3 days ?

  • i dont really consider this as salsa - due to the addition of vinegar ( balsamic ) and no corriander also known as cilantro or chinese parsley into the mixture. as for canned tomatoes and chillies - that is fine. but do not add in the sauce or brine as it is high in sodium. this is really unhealthy in my opinion and not mexican or latin american - rather its a fusion salad dip - not real salsa.

  • nice ring

  • I dont mind canned tomatoes for making salsa but I would try this with fresh jalapenos. I like more heat.

  • Yuck! Canned! Really fresh is better also add cilontro/corriander

  • would fresh cilantro/corriander be good in that salsa do you think??

  • Too much onion for my liking haha. :p

  • i hate how she broke up the tomatoes with her hands, and the onions should be cut smaller

  • She liked her salsa, so she put a ring on it.

  • why are people so worried she's cooking with a ring on? it's not like ur gonna eat that salsa anyways haha.

  • @d0sam1 nice, i want some

  • Take off your rings and wash your hands before tearing tomatoes in pieces you *bleep*ing *bleep* !

    >:(

  • grow up.

  • I think that salad would go good with Tostitos Scoops. XD

  • what salad?

  • im more of the fresh ingredient kinda guy when it comes to SALSA..

I think ol chef has a crush on her and gave her some time to shine!! just kidding chef!! keep up the good work!

  • go see the doctor

  • LOL at the comment below me. I would try it though, looks good...I'm a fatass! :-)

  • Doesn't look very good to me....canned, processed junk with a few fresh onions

  • very simple, shall try!

  • that is a fabulous ring!!!

  • I think canned tomatoes should be used for cooking only not for raw food.

  • why

  • because fresh tomatoes taste better than canned tomatoes, and with raw food (like salads, for example) you always use the best ingredients. If you keep carrots in the fridge and they get soft, you can use them for cooking but eating them raw won't be as good. Cooking makes them taste ok. Anyway, it's just my opinion.

  • Wearing rings when you cook is disgusting... For a "chef" she ought to know that. But it's obvious she is a newb.

  • you can buy already crushed totmaters

  • Not as appealing as completely fresh, but a nice 'shelf' version for in a pinch....sounds good. Take off the rings for sure though...bleh.

  • It grosses me out when people wear jewelry (especially complicated jewelry with all those little crevices) when preparing food with their hands. The recipe looks good as a quick and uncomplicated something, though... although... I think if the season was right (which it sure is now!) I'd go for fresh instead of canned... it's just as easy. :)

  • Nice idea, but the commercial aspect of using the garlic/onion?/pepper/salt is not what I would call a 'traditional" way. Is this the commercial

trade off to create a cost effective salsa? It appears to loose some quality by doing that.

Her ideas are sound though... keep the vids coming.. :)

  • no garlic???

  • The sound it was making as she was turning it was disgusting. Too watery for my taste.

  • It looked kinda nasty with her hands in the tomatos and she's wearing jewelry too. I guess thats what gives it the "Santa Maria" flavor, lol. There's too many canned ingredients, so I wouldn't give this a try.

  • Eeew, yeah XD

  • hahaha i agree

  • Too many "canned" ingredients? How can you get too many of those? ^_^ It looks like a good recipe, but no salsa is complete without some coriander.

  • Nice! :)

  • I don't think I care for this recipe.

  • tip: if you have the time and patience you can roas the tomatoes (fresh) in the grill alongside the meat, and then crush with the other ingridients... add a nice smoky flavor.

And you can use the lefth over salsa to make chilaquiles the next morning, or drowned eggs.

  • quick and easy and it looks quite good

  • Yikes I hate people touching thier food or cooking with thier jewelries on it my goshhh ...

  • is good but better salsa spicy xD make home :P

  • yum yum

    Dip Potato chips in it?

  • LOOKS LIKE CHILLE TO ME ?

  • OK, please take the rings off if you're going to crush tomatoes. Those rings are not sanitary.

    Otherwise, nice looking salsa.

  • I had nearly all ingridients so ... wow balsamic winegar + tomato sauce is a really good combo. I added splash of worcestershire sauce to it. Mmmm. a very nice salsa.

  • good call. Thanks.

  • Canned tomatos do not ALL taste bad... I've eaten canned tomatos that cost nearly eight dollars a can. They taste fantastic. So do cans of tomatos from Muir Glen and they cost about two dollars a can.

  • being hispanic canned tomatoes and can chile???!!!! thats a slap to every grandmothers face. betch u the taste was a bland and salty taste

  • It's not "hispanic" salsa... it's Santa Maria salsa.

  • santa maria is hispanic dumbass.... if u know what culture it is brighten my day

  • not entirely true. I had been living in Santa Maria long enough to know it is not 100% Hispanic. as for your question on what culture it is, why ask if you do not know Santa Maria very well.

  • @volcomstone54 Actually, Santa Maria is only 75% Hispanic.

  • That prep area was so sexy i have like 1square foot to work with at home :-/

  • siiick

  • with a good connotation that is

  • i WANT SOME NOW!!! That looks mouth watering!!! MMMMMMMMMMMM...

  • who the hell uses canned tomatoes to make salsa? this is just nasty and bad taste.

  • the worst video he has ever posted how sad... that looked disgusting you don't eat canned tomatoes like that i would taste like SHIT should of used fresh tomatoes at LEAST!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • that looks hella delish

  • Nothing special about this recipe. The canned stuff ruined it for me. If you are going to make salsa using cans, you might as well buy the salsa pre-made from the store to save even more time. Just my opinion. Don't want to be offensive. Did it taste too salty?

  • @evolutiotology canned tomatoes are the best. even in italy they use canned tomatoes for their pasta in most of all cases. for the other canned products you're right!

  • you say salsa funny

  • YUM!

  • I think if everything is fresh will be even better and healthier.

  • argh the wedding ring

  • she shoulda took her ring off!

  • Looks good. I haven't made my own in a while. Thanks for the reminder.

  • Man, her splashes and dashes are very generous, lol.

  • Wow big diamond ring

  • yummm

  • i'd add cilantro, basil, and white onions over red...

  • shes getting her wedding ring all yucky

  • No citrus acid?

  • when were you here in santa maria? I'd like to have met the master chef!

  • she didn't de-bling! omgsh! xD

but I guess she didn't dip her hands IN the tomato... iz good

  • That looks so good but I'm allergic to sulfites in balsamic and red wine vinegar! What can I replace it with to make it taste good?

  • Love all the new travel recipes, John. Keep at it. :)

  • Gross...she has her ring on while she's crushing the tomatoes. There has to be TONS of bacteria in that ring!!!!

  • mmmm, Looks good!! im gonna have to try it!!

  • i tried looking for tri - tip on the east coast..no luck yet.

  • Its hard to find, only 1 per side of beef, and most of it is turned to hamburger or sent west. You won't likely find it in a display case at a supermarket, I would ask the butcher directly, try to find a real butcher shop. Some butchers refer to it as bottom sirloin butt also.

  • thanks for the info.

  • that looks Good

  • what's with both chef John and Suzie pronouncing it "sal-za?"

  • hahahaha!

  • Too many cans for my tastes,

    fresh ingredients when possible.

I like to add cilantro to my salsa.

I also let it sit at least overnight

before using for the flavors to blend.

  • Agree, anything out of a can that you can get fresh, makes me lose my appetite.

  • TREU THAT

  • Why the "thumbs down", hehe?

    Just adding my 2 cents.

  • where is the heat? a salsa needs atleast a little jalapeno or habenero. Sorry but that is salsa rules. IF you are going to make this reciepe put in some JALAPENOS!

  • It gross me out how she's wearing a ring while crushing the tomatoes....just seems unsanitary. :-|

  • I didn't see her rings get into the food.

  • OK, so if I have a boogar on my pinky finger and fix your food without dipping my pinky finger in the food, do you think that's OK since it didn't touch? It's the same thing. the ring is nasty. Take it off.

  • why do you care how the food she's going to eat is prepared? just don't wear a ring when you prepare this. simple; problem solved. amazed aren't you?

  • haha good one

  • i did, when she threw in the diced onions

  • what is santa maria?

  • Ummm... Mary. Mother of Jesus. Assuming you know that, Santa Maria is also the name given to many locations and things on this lovely planet, this salsa being one of those things. Cheers!

  • In this case i belive the refer to a region in california.

  • mmmmm, id just make it with fresh diced tomatoes

  • I second that! And pineapple or mango! Yummmm.....

  • lol or at least canned diced Tomatoes. Even if someones hands are washed it's still gross to see her separating the Tomatoes like that.

  • sorry but i cant look at her slicing vegetables and tearing up those tomatoes! ahh :-/

  • looks good though...

  • you got some sort of mental problem?

  • dont be so touchy.

  • Ohhh that look nice!

  • please tell her the correct way to put the fingers when u cut vegetables, before she cuts her fingers

  • I put my fingers the same way and have never cut myself. I think people just do what's comfortable for them. I don't believe there's any "correct" way to do it. =)

  • first!,i dont usually do this but great dish

  • you were not first i was! lol

  • i want to try it!
