johndds...thank you for the information on lanap...i was quoted by a periodontist the cost of $10000.00 for gum surgery. I am so glad you provide the information on Lanap and I was able to find a dentist with the Lanap machine. Please continue your information flow to others..thank you.

@123hfsful Isn´t it a tragedy that less than 1% of dentist offer LANAP as an alternative to traditional amputative surgery? Even though the FDA clearence is now over 6 years old that says that LANAP can reverse the primary cause of tooth loss in adult Americans.

johndds...i would like to thank you for uploading so much information on the web regarding lanap...i just had my procedure done on the other side of my mouth and it was painless. Unfortunately i wasnt able to do both sides at the same time, the right side was done in Dec 09. I didnt return until two days ago for the left side. I am thankful my dentist was able to clean the right still and complete the left side of my mouth. If you did put the info out there I would have spent alot

@Mmasta017 People with gum disease look "long in the tooth" because of the gum dropping down the tooth as the disease progresses. Chewing is not easy soft foods are their favorite.

Though, I understand there are several dentists in line once the Periolase receives the CE mark.

Amazing they can save teeth like that nowadays. My mother was on the medication prednisone for about 10 years and wound up many loose teeth that could not be saved. A dentist did unsuccessfully try guided regeneration with membranes. For the patient in the video, a lot of bone would have to grow back to save a tooth like that. As for me, I live in a small town where dentists still tell me bone and cementum cannot grow back.

In our office it is about $5000 if you compare that to one implant with bone grafting it is about the same, though with the lanap it should save all the remaining teeth.

1 implant with grafting = $5000

32 remaining teeth = $5000

And if you break it down to $100 a month not to bad to keep YOUR teeth healthy.

For years I have suffered with peridontal disease through smoking & lost my upper 4 incisors with some resession to the bone left & right. I have now stopped smoking (3rd mth) and saving £10/15K to correct the damage in 2 yrs , in that time the blood supply should return. what treatment should I be looking for when the time comes?. All work will be carried out by the NHS in the UK.

The Periolase should be available in Europe by the time you have the work done (2 years). Though periodontal treatment should not be put off.

I do not know anything about the NHS.

NHS is a goverment run facility that covers all aspects of everything to do with medicine & is run by the British Goverment. All manner of treatments are avalible for all ailments. The NHS is a free service although you can be a private patient which dose cost. I would have to go as a private patient dew to the nature of the cause. How do you mean Periodontal treatment should not be put off. I was told that I would have to have bone taken of my illiac crest & grafted to the effected area.

Gum Disease is an infection that is eating you alive. Why would you want that in your body?

Before you have grafts consider and research the possibility of LANAP.

Remember folks, it ISN'T about brushing. It's about FLOSSING! It ISN'T about what you can see, it's about what you CAN'T see.

Typically, gum disease starts off slow and completely unnoticed. You get plauqe build up and tarter between your teeth and in places a brush alone CAN'T clean (below gum line). All of a sudden, you have gum disease and you don't even know it or feel it.

Buy a water pic! Use the pic, then floss, then brush and use a rinse like listerine ESPECIALLY before bed.

@johnddscom, question for you. After the treatment using LANAP does the patient lose the deep pockets? The wife has 5 and 6mm pockets and has been recommended this treatment. She was also told that she'd need maintanence every three months, is this so and for how long? We've been quoted $5,400 but with Metlife we only will pay $3,900. And I thought getting her to use the waterpik weekly was going to cure her gum disease!
