This might be the best stock Mustang ever. I mean you drive it off the lot and you already have 412 horsepower right there. Ford did everything right with this car. Not to mention the 6-speed manual, finally. Definitely worth your money.

@texmexman1 mustang is safer. the lotus only has 250 something horsepower. mustang you can always make faster. lotus dont have much aftermarket support. yeah the lotus is light and good in corners but it is to small and it only has two seats. mustang has four seats and sounds and looks better.
@aleksankazakov I sat in one and thought the interior was nicer than the Camaro or Challenger. It's a simple design but it works. And what do you mean it doesn't have any prestige? Technically, none of the modern muscle cars do. But it is a Mustang, which is the most successful muscle car to ever exist.
@ST1GGLES I was trying to say: Who will buy this? Considering that it has 5.0 it doesn't make 100hp to 1L of displacement. Modern cars like Infinity, benz, Lexus, BMW make over 100hp per 1L. The 5.0 is not as fast as some other cars out there with much smaller engines. And to the general person on a street this is just another stang. Most of them wouldn't even recognize that you've spend extra 20k to have that 5.0 in it.

However, from what I've read (I acknowledge I haven't driven it) it seems to create torque throughout the rev range, which (I think you would agree) is exactly what you want in a muscle car. Bigger engines are good for that. Most of the cars you mentioned have to be revved quite a bit to get substantial torque. As for the hp being "only" 414, any higher would conflict with the new Boss or Shelby.
@ST1GGLES I agree, it will conflict with shelby if it had 500+ hp but then tell me, why to have 5.0 and to have 4.6 shelby? Ford has to get its things straight. They have to learn from Germans.

The 5.0 did just come out, and maybe they want to see how it does in the GT, or maybe the 4.6 motor is better for the Shelby in some way? I'm not to sure, but I don't think that not having the 5.0 in the Shelby hurts it too much. The 4.6 is still a fine motor. And they are learning from the Germans in a way. Building the new hardcore track-ready Boss 302 was a very European thing to do.
@ST1GGLES ford has been building "euro" cars since the 80's! they were winning les mans in the 60s for crying out loud. cosworths, merkurs, svos, basically anything with a 2.3 turbo was derived with what we call european engineering. ford loves rally building and that can explain how well they can create suspensions. your average euro car looks like a prius anyway, fords been doing the whole building cars thing for a while now, they are good at it on their own merit.
@ST1GGLES i saw an episode of american muscle car or whatever its called on vh1 where they took the new 5.0 and put it on an engine dyno and it actually made about 475 HP with the rev limiter coming in at about 7800 RPM.. ford really underrated the engine, just like gm did when the ls1 came out on firebirds and camaros back in 98

For the cost of a base Mustang GT, you can only get a 3.0 liter 230 hp 128i, which has an even worse hp/liter ratio than the Mustang. After all, it was specifically built to be faster than the BMW M3 (which it is), and the Boss 302 is faster around Laguna Seca than the Audi R8 V10.

GT cost as much as an old e46 M3 and e46M car is faster than GT by mile. as always year to year Ford is behind. 2004 Mustang GT is slower than its competition of any make . @renticharlie Well for a car starting at around 40 grand, it is pretty "muscular." If you want real american muscle, the Corvette ZR1 offers up 640 horsepower. If anything, the traditional problem with american cars is that they suck at cornering, not in a straight line.

@dmmorrix I agree, this Mustang is ugly. I prefer the one with the fog lamps & the Mustang emblem in the center over the stocked grill. And of course the 5.0 badge just has to be there on the sides. That's like the chevron of power.

i love mustangs and i like how the 5.0 is the fastest but the only problem is that everyone has a mustang. you'll get more attention with a camaro or challenger and im talking female attention. i would sacrifice the small amount of speed for a better pussy magnet.

I have a 5.0 and I have seen only 2 others around my metropolitan area. That definitely doesn't bother me either. I like not seeing my car around and I see laods of Camaros and loads Challengers every day.

I think you get more attention with a camaro or challenger because they are newer cars, whereas mustangs are everywhere ranging in years because it has NEVER STOPPED PRODUCTION. which says something. you get the camaro transformers fanboys and those dodge(small dicked) fanboys, but the best is always the Stang.

@renticharlie Well for a car starting at around 40 grand, it is pretty "muscular." If you want real american muscle, the Corvette ZR1 offers up 640 horsepower. If anything, the traditional problem with american cars is that they suck at cornering, not in a straight line.
