  • OMGish!!! That looks AWESOME! I'm jotting down the recipe and will make this very very soon! :oD

  • "Wine is like icecream, it makes everyday better" lol. nice.

  • You, sir, have won the internet.

  • I especially liked the idea of the shrimp and scallops instead of the clams. I think it's the clams that turn people off about this particular soup. The combination of seafood you suggest just takes it over the top.

  • Just made this chowder. WOW! It's by far the BEST seafood chowder recipe I've ever tasted. My husband would never before touch anything with seafood in it...until now. He devoured 2 huge bowls and now he can't believe he never would eat chowder. Thank you for this delicious recipe!

  • @principles101 Thank you for letting me know, I am glad you liked it.

  • That looks amazing! We make a oyster stew and potato soup every Xmas eve and New Years eve here.

  • big fat thumbs up! I just followed your instructions to the letter and it came out awesome! Thanks for the instructional.

  • @TheXxxRIPPERxxx Thanks for letting me know. That always makes it worth it to do the vid.

  • I love fresh seafood chowder! Whats your favorite wine yankee? My wife got me started on white wine years ago. Now I cant drink white. I have graduated to merlot and cabernet sauvignon. If I'm not drinking that I have glass of scotch or whisky on hand.

  • That sounds so good! Going to be my celebratory meal when I get home in May! Except fresh seafood will be hard to come by in AZ. But, as you say, it's a celebration, I'll make it happen...

  • and.....my mouth is watering

  • i love seafood but it's so expensive. i'm in college with next to no money, so frozen tilapia is about all I 'splurge' on. beats the hell out of processed food though

  • Ok, Now I'm really hungry! Awesome recipe, gonna have to try this one.

  • hey no hate just love?..

  • What's a cup of half and half? I have never heard that terminology used in cooking before!

  • it looks good. and living in seattle i have access to some good seafood. i will have too try this.

  • Going to make this tonight for family. Lets see how it goes!

  • I really like the cutting boards!

  • Looks wonderful, what would us boneheads do without our wives?!?

  • Wow, that looks amazing. I love seafood and surf&turf style meals for holidays. So many people do the traditional ham/turkey, personally I love to have a steak and scallops.

Great video Yankee, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.

  • Man that looks delicious!

  • happy new years to you and yours god bless

  • soft shell crab best to eat it all

  • 4 thumbs down? 4 idiots don't like good food and family time. Sad..

  • YUMMO

  • Good for her for getting some culture in you. Looks good. Especially the scallops.

  • HAVE TO make this - THANKS!!

  • Looked good brother. I will have to try it out. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year to you and the family...

  • Hey Yankee, can you send me a link to your pool bleach/ water purifying video? I would like to show a friend about making bleach, but I cannot remember the details. I cannot find that vid on your page anywhere... Thanks/ Happy New Year...

  • @mechanisto1832 If I gave you the link you would not be able to view it. It's on "private" view only. After 2 years of having it up and 60,000 views I could not believe how many people out there can't handle simple instructions. My patience just run out with answering stupid questions. Here is the EPA link for the procedure:

  • looks good, can I have some :P

  • Thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos for the community. You and your wife did a great job with the cooking video. As a member of the you tube community with a cooking channel I can tell you it's a lot of work and I am thankful for my husband Mike who helps me to put it all together and we are both honored to be subscribed to your great channel.

    Have a Happy New Year!!

    God Bless,

    Elba

  • I am more of a 'youtube gun viewer' than anything else. But honestly I watch your cooking videos more intently than any firearm video I have found in years. I truly look forward to when you put them up. Thank you. I really appreciate the time you take to film and post these.

  • Hey there Yankee Prepper Family, I am from Maine and that looks like an awesome Chowdah as we call it. I have used basically the same ingredients using clams & lobster at the end of tourist season when the prices drop. I am 50 yrs old now, and grew up on the coast of Maine, Dad was a lobsterman and Mom and Dad w/ the 3 of us kids also went clam digging and that is back breaking work. It was also a time of great memories. We also would gather shore (aka goose tongue)greens called poormans foo

  • Cant wait to try this! Thanks for sharing YankeePrepper!

  • Looks great man 6 minutes in i had to go make something to eat. Happy New Year to you and your family.

  • Looks good Bro! I love all the ingredients that you have listed. Cheers!

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing it!

  • Thanks for this video! I have been watching your channel for some time and appreciate all of your info. This one is great I think because I think most of us have forgotten what is important in life. Again Thanks and hope to see many more of you videos next year

  • You have a great family! Btw I had a little bit of innocent fun at your expense on one of my baking videos! Nothing ugly or mean just fun.

  • Excellent. Gumbo down here, but not as a celebratory meal but a couple of times a month. Great vid.

  • Looks wonderful. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  • Very Good wine there "Cupcake"....:) Happy New Year!

  • Great recipe I love seafood but eat my chowder out of can suks.. I am from New Mexico,,Tamales,Posole and The best Green Chili anywhere Is our traditional grub..lol Looking foward to seeing more of your videos. If u ever want to try some Green Chili let me know,,,Happy Holidays

  • looks great

  • man that looked great! those were seriously monster scallops! Always a good thing to have extended family down south, especially FL :) .

  • You're wife is from Florida!?!?!? She must really love you, because she moved to Minnesota. I share your flip flop rants with friends, and man, wearing flip flops in February in Minnesota makes you a real man.

Also, Minnesota? Stone crab, shrimp? lobster? I like Minnesota. A Lot! But not in winter! and not for the seafood. And Yes, Wine makes everything better. You could rip my arm off and hand me a glass of Cab, and I'd be fine.

Love the Vids, keep up the good work!

  • @teaser452 She must love me, although I do occasionly wonder why. We could have easily moved to Florida, but I will take 4 seasons, 2 feet of fluffy snow on a fresh crisp February morning in the Northwoods than June,July and August in Florida anyday. Winter up here isn't for everyone......... and I like it that way.

  • that looks great

  • Looks good. I can't wait for cabbage, collards, and black eyed peas. Happy New Year.

  • always look forward to your COOKIN vids, yankee....makes me think preppin aint so much a sacrifice u kno? ever think of forwardin one of your vids to the cooking channel? i got a good line for your intro commercial already.. cookin with YP beats an MRE! thanks again..and happy new year to you and yours

  • @jlibertas Thanks brother. Prepping should not be a sacrifice except for the intitial walking away from the "world". My family definitely lives a different life, a more traditional life compared to my parents, but a very different life compared to my culture today. I would say a richer life in fact. My kids got a couple 50 to 70 dollar video games for Christmas from the inlaws that bought them the Wii last year. They are unused as of yet, today my kids went hiking with me,

  • That looks great thanks for the recipe! Happy New Year

  • Fantastic video Yankee! Thanks for sharing that great recipe. Man alive that looks good!

  • Wine is like icecream... sheer brilliance man!....

I feel the same about scotch!

  • You my good man, MUST get your wife a biggger cutting board LOL...

    God Bless.

  • That looks incredible. Thanks for sharing! Happy new year all!

  • Awesome, thanks for sharing! Have a Happy New Year!

  • awesome.......teaching your kids to drink responsiblly was great

  • That looks amazing.. My wife is from here in Wisconsin, very mid western girl.. and it's funny because she used to think Red Lobster was the reference for seafood.... Thanks for sharing!

  • When the onions, celery, and pepper went in the pan, I thought to myself... "Yankeeprepper, you have very feminine hands..." LOL

  • Looks great! Thanks for sharing

  • No Old Bay in there? Blasphemous! Haha. What a great quick dinner. Hope you guys had an excellent Christmas. Almost time for pork and sauerkraut here in PA for New Years. Happy New Years to you all.

  • Looks delicious, I hate drinking wine but I love to cook with it and beer. It is really nice to cook with the spouse and the children. As always, nice video and commentary. God bless you and the family brother, and Happy New Year.

  • looks very tasty!

Your right about the sparkling cider. It is a great non-alcholic celebratory beverage for the family. My kids love it!

  • Wow, that looks amazing!

  • Did you make that cutting board - very cool! Happy New Year!!

  • lmao country bumken careful there lol but dam that chowder made me hungry but i would add clams but thats this country boy lol besafe and stay low and watch your six

  • Good lookin Choda. Man you do not play around, that was LOADED with shellfish! Happy New Year-

  • Looks good, I added it to my recipes.

  • Stuffed Cabbage and Roasted Pork Loin videos are coming. That is our traditional New Years Day meal. My Dad waits for that day because he only gets the cabbage once a year. I don't really know why, but that's the only day I make it. I suppose making it all year wouldn't make it as special. Happy New Year to all and may 2012 be everything you wish it to be! Noreen : )

  • @atticus9799 Your timing is great as usual for us. I ordered a 1/2 of a hog with smoked bacon and Hams as well as loins, chops, etc for the beginning of Jan. This is our first order of pasture local raised pork. Buying direct from the farmer. Buying traditionally raised beef has been a big winner for us, so I thought I would try pork as well. I will probably do a vid when it comes in and be using your recipe.

  • @Yankeeprepper YAY for locally raised meat! : )

  • Man, that looks like a hardy meal!

I work 99% of the holidays, so I don't do to many special meals.

  • those bowls are cool. You know if you fine dice bacon and saute the fat out use as part of your roux with the flour, , so good. I also thyme in my seafood chowder. Looks great , take care

  • @beast12101 Thanks bro. Have a great New Year!

  • yum ,looks great. I'll have to try it. I made your rum cake for Christmas ( heavy on the rum) and everybody loved it.Good job.Two thumbs up.

  • Man that looks good Yankee! Your wife did a good job! :)

  • YUM! This is almost identical to my clam chowder recipe. I never thought of using shrimp and scallops. Can't wait to try it.

  • Errrrm... I prefer pea soup...

  • I've been spoiled here in New England; some of my friends in the middle of the country were like you (thought Red Lobster was real seafood). There's a few Red Lobsters around here but I've always thought of them as the McDonalds of seafood. Good recipe, BTW.

  • Oh yankee...I noticed that your wife did NOT laugh when you said "if you really want to test your patience go on a road trip with me" LOL I'm guessing she agreed? Enjoyed this video.

  • @WinefrideofWales She was giggling. We have had some great roadtrips since we both like to do them. But I am the worst! I am the guy that wants to stop at the "worlds largest ball of twine" or I want to stop at all the mom and pop cafes that advertise "fresh PIE". And I hog the radio and sing the whole time and I have to have the window open...... I drove 30 plus hours from Minnesota to Florida like that one time, NON STOP...she was ready to kill me.

  • @Yankeeprepper if you are ever in southwest Virginia, there is a place called FoamHenge. Yes, it is exactly what you think it is. I must have spent an hour there.

  • it is always great to cook with family

  • @yankeeprepper

Damn, Now I have a new dish to try. If it is as good as the cake i am going yo be gaining a couple extra pounds. God Bless Happy New Year. Be Safe

  • YUM!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe! I gotta try this! :)

  • Well being from New England, I haven't seen red and green pepper used before but that looks more like my kind of favors. Mrs Yankee must be a patient lady on road trips, lol. Thanks for sharing this my friend. Hope you all have a great New Year.

  • I hear ya. We're from the Texas Gulf Coast, now living in land locked Missouri. *groan* Nevertheless, we persevere. I'll send you a short vid or our Christmas Eve meal. I had to chuckle when you mentioned Red Lobster. Red Lobster is to seafood what Taco Bell is to Mexican food! Happy New Year Yankee.

  • I'm not a big seafood guy but that looks delicious

  • Well done, I will be trying this. Thank you for sharing.

  • Awesome! Thanks for sharing, Mr. and Mrs. Yankee!

  • that's got to be super delicious! Thanks for sharing that valuable recipe. I'm sure that can be excellent with local food. Extra special with those ingredients of course, because only salt water gives that sea flavor to its critters that can't be duplicated, far as I know.

  • Looks delish!

  • Mouth is watering-- and I'm watching this at 10:30 AM...

  • Looks good, yumm.

  • wine is fine, but liquor's quicker, thanks for sharing ;)

  • it's the most delicious video of I've ever seen

  • Clamjuice... I wonder how it goes as base in my morningsmoothie ... :-D ?.

  • Wow that looks amazing!

  • We miss Maryland seafood since we moved to the North Georgia Mountain area...I think I will go see what the seafood counter at our Publix has and hopefully we will find what we need to make this dish..

  • I was in Ann Arbor Michigan and they had on the menu "Fresh Gulf Shrimp" Now I am used to eating seafood in Florida 150 feet from the gulf itself with Shrimp that was caught in the last hours still wiggling when the chef throws them in the cooker. Do you think the "fresh" shrimp in Ann Arbor could compare? Not on your life brother.

  • Nothing says Happy New Year more than that wonderful "Glop, Sploosh and squish" sounds of stirring together a hearty meal with loved ones. I think of all the things I miss about the holidays, cooking together with Baby ranks pretty high on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing both the recipe and the special moments in life that make it worth it all. Have a Happy New Year and I pray God's blessings and anointing upon you and yours.

  • Every time I see your cooking videos with the tile counter top makes me think of how I had to rip up and redo the kitchen counters tops cause my wife hated them, hard to clean. Happy New Year!

  • @LivingHistorySchool I hated my countertops SO BAD that I wrote on them with sharpee markers "I hate these counters" so my husband replaced them! LOL

  • thanks you two for sharing the recipe, was just ordering from Giovanni's Fresh Fish Market up in morro bay. must be everyone's craving seafood. now the wine selection here is awesome one of the perts of living on the central coast. whats the new years meal?

  • @SMprepnNancy We do Prime Rib "bone in" Roast on Christmas and Alaska king crab leg on New years. Then we start losing weight for spring.

  • Looks delicious, thank you for sharing this family recipe. I'm in New Mexico so fresh Seafood is pretty hard to come by down here also. I might have to try this as a special dinner with the girlfriend. Thanks for all the great and interesting info you continue to share.
