People suicide over game accounts. Ive known a couple people and its mostly pc games that theyre addicted to and never go outside anymore because of. Its not really playing too many video games its playing one too much. I stopped playing call of duty because it made me hostile all the time. Theres truth to those studys.

After a period of time the game slowed down and i didn't buy a new video card.
NOTE: i was NEVER a addict. I played because of Speed of graphics and PvP wasn't one sided.
Look at that game now. Everyone left. Why? No PvP balance No fun. PvP was 2 minutes long at time. Now its 4 seconds. That's not fun.
So now i don't play it. And i haven't played in 5 months. I would love to play again. IF they fixed the game. But you see. I REFUSE to play it. That shows i don't have a addiction.

I see the point. What isn't an addiction? I can remember my cousin would sit and watch me play Tomb Raider 1 & 2 for about 8 hours a day. We would take a break for lunch and I would be right back on the playstation for about 8 hours a day. I just had to get to the end. Truth be told that anything can be an addiction if it causes trouble in the more important aspects of life; Such as relationships with Family, Friends, Employment, Nutrition, Exercise...Anything can be an addiction.

excess video game use is not a mental illness. Sadly, adding it to the list of mental disorders may cause misdiagnosis of other illnesses and improper treatment down the road. Several other mental illnesses can play out in ones video game habits such as OCD, delusions, and other mental disorders. Plus, your going to lump them all together with completely healthy individuals, causing more confusion. All together a bad idea.

After a period of time the game slowed down and i didn't buy a new video card.
NOTE: i was NEVER a addict. I played because of Speed of graphics and PvP wasn't one sided.
Look at that game now. Everyone left. Why? No PvP balance No fun. PvP was 2 minutes long at time. Now its 4 seconds. That's not fun.
So now i don't play it. And i haven't played in 5 months. I would love to play again. IF they fixed the game. But you see. I REFUSE to play it. That shows i don't have a addiction.

There are stupid people. Thats all there is in Truth. I played Let me first start with i am poor.Everquest as my first game was good. But when graphics started to lag behind i couldnt keep up. I refused to by a new video card.
Time moved on and Warhammer came out i didnt get to play it. But i wanted too. World of Warcraft cam out. Better Graphics without slowing down my computer. I got THAT.
Then they patch.Again. Again. Again. Again. The game slows down. They didnt need to patch really.

I see the point. What isn't an addiction? I can remember my cousin would sit and watch me play Tomb Raider 1 & 2 for about 8 hours a day. We would take a break for lunch and I would be right back on the playstation for about 8 hours a day. I just had to get to the end. Truth be told that anything can be an addiction if it causes trouble in the more important aspects of life; Such as relationships with Family, Friends, Employment, Nutrition, Exercise...Anything can be an addiction.

Video games are VERY addicting, I lost my husband to them and so have many others. I don't think anyone realizes people just can't stop playing. There's videos all over youtube and blogs all over the internet of families destroyed over this addiction, it's not something to take lightly.For the most part, I don't think anyone is going to understand this unless they have lost a love one to it.

Well, it is an actual sickness. Look at that 'real life' video game that ruined thousands of peoples lives because they got so addicted to that one game (I can't remember the name, but it operated in real time ratios, and like the real world, I would believe). It's the same as internet addiction. There are those out there that do nothing BUT videogames. It's like herion to them. But I do agree on the insurance aspects of being a wtf moment. Unless it leads to other illnesses (like reclusiveness)

Video Games have actually been proven to increase brain activity, Problem solving, encourage creativity, and just be fun as hell. It helps people think faster and believe it or not, helps to develop sharper reflexes. So I agree that classifying it as a "mental illness" is just a way to pump out more drugs to rake in more money.

I play video games as a way of venting off my day. It is a safe place for people to just let go and vent. Everything now days is a mental disorder and your right its all about the drug companies trying to squeeze more money out of all.
However, some people allow themselves to be completely immersed in games damaging their families, jobs, and relationships. So there is a need to have some intervention, but to classify it as a mental disease is just retarded in of itself.
