  • You never disappoint. I shared this gem. Its not only a great song, but you introduced me to another great singer, you seem to do that allot though :D.

  • @FacciaDiBambino Thank you very much! All new A Cappella video collab coming in a few days, stay tuned! ;-)

PS: And please share one or two of my videos with friends. It helps me get my work out there, I'd appreciate it. ;-)

  • Godfather!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fanbloodytastic!

  • @Cedesings Thanks! ;-)

  • Liverpool FC. My team, my life. My story, this song is perfect. It's not a very good song but it means so much and you did it very very well. Great job Julien!!!

  • @ghtoti Thanks! Why do you say it's not a very good song? I personally think it's very well written, both music and lyrics. One of my all time favorites.

  • @trudbol I've sung it before in some choirs I'm in and it's never been a fave of mine soundwise. I just get the impression that he probably wrote it on a napkin in a train in about 10 minutes. I just feel like the lyrics don't quite connect with the tune. I'm a big Rogers and Hammerstein fan though so I guess it's just one of those things. lol. Great job anyway!

  • what program do you use for the video?

  • @beatthesuondinside I posted an F.A.Q. list on my channel.

  • that was beautiful! I so wish I had the ability to do what you do.

  • @grandplans Thank you! Give it a try, it's easier than you think: just download Audacity (open source freeware) and play around with it. You'll be surprised with the results. ;-)

  • Liverpool...my first English team.

  • @trudbol how can you charge money for learning a song you don't personally own?

  • @YumYumYumBigoyo Mechanical licensing fees are the responsibility of the purchaser.

  • Davvero bravissimi! Complimenti! :)

  • @iperuranea Grazie! ;-)

  • fantastic

  • @Dommy20111 Thank you! ;-)

  • When I listened to this, I felt I had to stand and salute....

  • Do you have the sheet musical available? Please respond. I'd love to do this with an ensemble at my college.

  • @silkaem Sure, just email me at jneel@free.fr. I sell audio learning tracks too.

  • @silkaem I haven't heard back from you...

  • a fantastic version of a timeless classic...a touch of the eternal...bravo!

  • @Genwaworldwide Thank you very much! ;-)

  • Thank you both for such a beautiful song and so well done. I used to sing this song when I was younger.

  • @patscnr Thank you, we're delighted you enjoyed it. Feel free to share our video with friends too. ;-)

  • Amazing! =)

  • @Angelina7S2 Thanks! Feel free to share this video with friends! ;-)

  • YNWA! LFC fan here! :D

  • c'est la tendresse qui touche nos coeurs :)

  • Wonderful!

  • Thanks for making me weepy! :(

It's okay, though. The song was still lovely!

  • I know this isn't a religious song but it has that "vibe" to it. The Church I go to sings in only Acappella. There are of course loads of songs you'd knock out of the park but one I think you'd do great at in particular is "Nearer Still Nearer". Look it up if you get a chance, you can find it on youtube in an acappella version.

  • @hlblyclay Thanks, I'll check it out. ;-)

  • @trudbol Thank you! Please take a few minutes of your time to vote for my A Cappella videos in the talent contest I'm competing in. The link is in the video description. I'd appreciate it ;-)

  • I love this and I have always loved barbershop quartet

  • there isn't a "love!" button and it won't let me "like" it more than once :S

  • If I had a wish I would be able to do this too. Don't ever take your voices for granted. Your sound is wonderful, and Neil should take this young lady and the girl from Israel and make some songs for the holidays. I would buy now. You guys are great.

  • @65dirt Thank you! I have a few songs on iTunes already (links on my channel page). You can also make a donation to support my music if you'd like. Thanks! ;-)

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • @theEumenides Thank you! ;-)

  • I was in a production of Carousel this summer and, this is one of my favorite songs! Wonderful job!

  • @ChanceWallable Thank you! ;-)

  • OK, I just got the chills, and my eyes are welling up. This is outstanding!

  • @DooWopFanatic Thank you very much! You should check out Karin's YouTube channel "Gingerona", you won't be disappointed.

  • Gorgeous work... Always love your videos...

  • @Somderoma Thank you. ;-)

  • her voice is EPIC! As is yours. I love this song so much, great job xD

  • @PrincessGarnetXVII Thanks! Karin is an opera singer with a fantastic voice. You should check out her channel: gingerona. ;-)

  • @trudbol i already did ;) I love a good Mezzo ^_^

  • @GUNSrosesAXLrose It is, in part.

In the musical "Carousel" for which this song was written, the hero Billy Bigelow dies and comes back to earth as an invisible angel to see his daughter one last time. This song is played at his funeral and contains a message of hope: "When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high". ;-)

  • Im a liverpool fan.

    But honestly.

    This version made me sleepy.

  • @MrHanzie89 Can't win them all. ;-)

This is actually the original version of the song, as written for the musical "Carousel".

  • @trudbol ooooops =p i guess im used to modern music. haha

  • @MrHanzie89 No worries, I appreciate the feedback. If you are indeed looking for something easy and exciting, this isn't the right piece. But after having listened to our version at least 20 times, I feel we did its spirit justice. It's always harder to make something sad ans slow enjoyable for the viewer, the more upbeat, happy / positive songs are easier to sell indeed. ;-)

  • @trudbol I think he means key instead of note. You're singing in the key of B flat rather than the key of C

  • @CharlieBladeRemus I see. Does it matter what key it's in?

  • @trudbol IMO it really doesn't matter :)

  • Shouldn't the note be in C rather than B flat?

  • wow i thought that the women was singing the low version and trudbol the high xp

  • wow this is incredible guys - so beautiful :)

  • @KATRINAMARIE123 Thank you Katrina! Please, just a little more patience and our turn will come too. ;-)

  • I am seriously addicted. Oh my goodness. Your channel is so wonderful and has me crying. Haha. This is great stuff!

  • @LoDream Thank you so much for your nice comment, I'm certain Karin will be as pleased as I to read your message. Cheers ;-)

  • my previous comment is in response to BobFromMich btw. i think you are going to have to ask youtube to create a double column of comments for you and your fans, cos because you are so extra polite and reply to most of them we get a bit block of trudbol's comments on our comments, and actually we want to see what other people said about you mainly :)

  • @jd7x7jd All you have to do when you want to post a comment as a response to someone other than me is to start your comment with the @ symbol : for instance if you want to write to jd7x7jd, just precede your commend with "@jd7x7jd". ;-)

  • oh wow, i'm reaching for the kleenex again. :(( :)

and julien's hair has never lookd so good :D

  • @jd7x7jd Haha! I'm glad you enjoyed our video John. Do visit Gingerona's channel, she has a wonderful voice.

  • je suis obligé de partager ! superbe !

  • @ladislas59 Merci, c'est sympa ! ;-)

  • Wow... this is gorgeous... and, I hope, more collaborations will follow...

Think about some of the Phantom/Christine duets from "Love Never Dies"- you both have the vocal timbres and power to carry them with majesty. In fact, I think just about

anything you set your voices to will be delightful!

    dieselheart001

  • @dieselheart001 Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed our video. Do check out Gingerona's channel, she has a beautiful voice. ;-)

  • That was beautiful. A whole different type of music for you. One word comes to mind: WOW!

  • @zunbarg Thanks! The genre itself isn't so new to me, since I've sung a few musicals before, but doing it with a voice like Gingerona sure is new. What a privilege!

  • Great video as usual! Also...Liverpoooooool! <3

  • @nifferox Thanks! ;-)

  • Bravo, Julien! Bravo! Once again I am awed by your talent.

  • @TarbenXsi Thank you, Im flattered. Gingerona is the real deal here though. ;-)

  • Beautiful....!!! ^_^

  • @rhythmrainbow Thank you! Check out GIngerona's YouTube channel, she has an amazing voice.

  • I wish you could hear my applause to this.

  • @NavariteAzuth Ah, thank you for that nice comment. ;-)

  • One of my favorite songs! Beautiful job, both of you. :)

  • @trudbol YOUR WELCOME...

  • OMG!!! beautiful

  • beautiful! your voice match very good together! :)

  • @Blumenkatze Danke! ;-)

  • Beautiful.

  • @TJgrebdnul Thank you! ;-)

Fred

  • Another triumph. Congratulations!

  • @shadysidelantern Thank you my friend! It's been a while hasn't it? ;-)

  • Excellent &exciting

  • @yonifarhi1 Thank you very much! ;-)

  • i realy like to listenin' this but i can't bealive that i have to enjoy this onli on youtube...well, it's much better this than nothin...thanks for every vid.

  • @xelokho666 Thank you for your kind comment. ;-)

  • BTW, her performance of Summertime at the end is just the emotion of performance that was missing from this.

  • Tuning was great. Arrangement, too. But where is the emotion? You both sound and look like you're reading a newpaper. This song has so much more just waiting to be performed.

  • @BobFromMich Really? That bad?

We did strive for something simple, clean and sober, and really tried not to overdo it, like a lot pop singers we see and hear. I agree with you I'm a bit too nonchalant in this one, but I don't feel Gingerona's missing expressiveness. It's minimalistic, with hand movements, the eyes, a delicate smile. Did you try to watch the video in full screen? A small video frame does reduce these details.

    Thanks for your feedback! ;-)

  • @trudbol I appreciate your added information.

If you were going for simple, clean vocals, you achieved that. However, it was the lack of facial expressions, etc. that kept me from enjoying the recording. Are you singing to inspire someone in the depths of sorrow? Are you singing to lift yourself from such a place? Are you singing about the confidence you feel that no matter what happens, you will never be alone? Each brings with it a unique way to vocalize and visually present yourselves.

  • @BobFromMich You're right, now that I look at myself with that in mind and the sound off, I can't really tell where I am in the song. Lesson learned. Thanks for the tip. ;-)

  • @trudbol oh balls Julien, your stage presence is always fine. we don't need histrionics. i started listening and i thought, hmm not sure i'm going to get into this one - no i'm definitely not - oh damn, where did i put that box of tissues - waaahh!!! - it's sooooooo beautiful :(( - i love it :)

  • Really wonderful, the best version of this song I have ever heard. You both are fabulous. -Ron

  • @rhopen Thank you Ron, I'm flattered and glad you enjoyed it! Cheers ;-)

  • Absolutely amazing. Your channel is one of the few I'm subscribed to that I get excited about you posting a new video!

  • @PastNorwegianBlue Thank you very much! Do visit Gingerona's channel, she's got quite a voice! ;-)

  • just had a flash back to the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. lol Eddy the computer of the hart of gold sang this song., though not as well lol

  • @Sasserathome Thanks! I don't remember that scene. Looks like I have some catching up to do! ;-)

  • Brava!

  • @tiyenin ;-)

  • Mm very nice both of you :)

  • @daveiwhittle Thanks! ;-)

  • seems almost Mercury and Monserrat caballè awesome!!! O.O

  • Man, this is beautiful. You sound perfect together.

How can you have such a perfect pitch?!

  • @BlueDeanCarcione Thank you! I'm far from having perfect pitch, I'm actually sing a bit flat most of the time. I practiced this song quite a bit, between college when I did the musical Carousel and the numerous takes I did for this video, using Gingerona's tracks for Soprano and Alto. Listen to professional barbershop singers and you'll hear some perfect pitch (try "Vocal Spectrum" on YouTube for instance). Cheers ;-)

  • I LOVE IT! but you need to smile a little more :)

  • J'ai presque pleuré, bravo !

  • @Kodiakkb Waouh, quel compliment ! Ça me fait bien plaisir de te lire ! ;-)

  • God, you're seriously the most talented and inspired singer I've ever listened to on YouTube. Great work!

  • @FriedrichWilliamII Wow, thank you for the kind words! Do visit Gingerona's channel, she has a fantastic voice. ;-)

  • i wish you would perform somewhere like you said about a meet up.

i don't live in europe, but i would love to see a video of you meeting youtube fam .

  • Good job!!!

  • @wiiplaythewii2 Thank you! ;-)

  • OMG so beautiful it gave me shivers <3 :)

  • @chocolatehearts92 Thank you very much! Check out Gingerona's channel too!

  • AWESOME!!!

  • @leonardobog Thank you! ;-)

  • I love this song! Beautifully done!

  • @vanceperry Thank you Vance! This song is also an old favorite of mine. ;-)

  • The Longest Time - Billy Joel! You'd kill it! :D Love your voice.

  • @CarlieGoodie Good idea, I'll add it to my to do list. ;-)

  • Hi Julien, very good collaboration! :) Much more low key and classical than your other works but I like that you have taken on board other people's requests and and given them a brilliant rendition of this song from Carousel. Best wishes. Dan

  • WOW!!!!! Amazing!!! Loved it!!!!

  • Thanks for another great video and also thanks for introducing me to so many more channels. Always happy to see when you upload a video.

  • Trudbol, I always enjoy your videos. This was yet another truely amazing sample of your great variety. Loved the harmonies. Keep up the good work, the both of you!

  • wow Julien! I thought this was one of your best ones yet :) her voice is absolutely beautiful! I love to hear someone sing who has a nice, classical tone. Hers is lovely :) and yours is amazing as always! cheers :D

  • Simply beautiful

  • Hola mi amigo! This is my mom's favorite song and I'm sending it to her now. Have a happy day! ;-)

  • @wendys120 Thanks! I hope she'll like it! ;-)

  • I played in the orchestra for Carousel last spring and this was always my favorite piece... Spectacular work by both of you guys, keep it up (:

  • @50Stringbass Wow, thank you! Which orchestra was it? ;-)

  • @trudbol Nothing super impressive, just for my old high school's production... Thankfully we had pretty strong music and theatre programs with around a 25-30 piece pit so it was a good time hehe...

You actually sound a lot like our Billy did... ;)

  • I really love the sound of your voices together :)

A nice variation on the usual stuff.

I think I may have to listen to this another 14 times or something, it's lovely.

  • @AGirlNamedLydia Thank you! ;-) You should drop by Gingerona's channel, she has a fantastic voice.

  • @trudbol I did! :D

  • Your recording brought back many good memories of my high school & university days. And some of the comments tickled me in places that youthful Josh might not be able to comprehend or appreciate. (I hope not, at least.) lol

My just-rolled-out-of-bed look isn't quite as neat and polished as yours, Julien. What's your secret? haha

Seriously, I'd love to be able to crackle and sputter a song as fittin' for an angels' choir as this collab is.

    Encore, encore.

    ~from Karin's 38th subscriber :)

  • @CarlyCarlyW Haha, thank you! It's very interesting to have classical and barbershop a cappella fans discussing what they enjoy in the sound. I like both for different reasons and thought it would be fun to try some sort of in-between mix like this. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Cheers ;-)

  • WIBC... :)

  • That's so peaceful.. Gingerona (what a voice!) and you made an awesome job. I love all of your videos, they're amazing. Cheers from Brazil

  • @Je0591 What a voice she has indeed! It's a good thing we sang this as a multitrack, I doubt I could have achieved this result live on stage next to her! But what a treat to sing with Gingerona. ;-)

  • though this is not your best, it is beautiful! :D

  • i love your musical promiscuity. it leads your fans to a healthy omnivory. i'm one of those that do not appreciate vibratto all the time, yet this is a beautiful piece.

big fan here (well, i think you know it by now!)

  • @dushka2001 Thank you my friend, it's always a pleasure to read your comments.

I wish we could do more than write a few comments, like go out for a drink with amongst YouTubers and sing a few tunes together. Someday! ;-)

  • YES! XD
