But armenians are the inventors of all dances in the world :D actually this dance is a copy (but I don't care that u have it) of YALLI dance, which actually a dance performed around the fire. And has really very ancient history. There are about 120 versions of this dance in North and South Azerbaijan together

well all dances within a region are remotely similar. so georgian and armenian dances have sooome basic similarities, but, dances are usually regional. meaning, each part of armenia had its own version of a dance. each had a symbol. the first dance at the beginning of the vid is "kocharee" which is an armenian warrior dance performed by soldiers before going to war with invadors (usually turkic peoples). the other one where people are standing on eachothers shoulders is called "pert" (fortress)

ya, i never said georgia was not the oldest. but you certanly must be aware that 10 000 years ago, there was no georgia or armenia, just hurrians. and they grew vines where ever, including vayots dzor armenia. well, if muslims drink today in the caucasus, it is because of soviet secularism, but you cannot say that muslim caucasians are traditional drinkers. interestingly, only georgians and armenians. maybe abkhaz, but i donno, never been there..

the rest of the caucasus is muslim anyway, so they don't drink much wine, or any alcohol for that matter. 2. i'm from vayots dzor, armenia's wine country, and probably one of the oldest in the world. and anyway, what are you arguing about? you also have beer: kazbegi (which i find quite descent actually). and armenia is europe, so is georgia. and believe it or not, i'm no fat belly. i just appreciate the finer things in life.

By comparing central asian and caucasian (western) Turkic music, it seems to me that most likely Azeri and Turkish music has been influenced and shaped by Armenian music, not the other way around. any thoughts?

Yeah, azeri mixed all. But armenians are the inventors of all dances in the world :D actually this dance is a copy (but I don't care that u have it) of YALLI dance, which actually a dance performed around the fire. And has really very ancient history. There are about 120 versions of this dance in North and South Azerbaijan together

I know that there are a great deal of differences between Armenian,Georgian,Turkish,Azerb. cultures. I also know that Armenia is the oldest Christian culture in history.Obviously the biggest difference between all of those cultures is that two are christian,the others are mostly muslims. Could someone explain to me the differences in Dance and dance. I've noticed a stronge similarity between their dances and music...perhaps someone could enlighten an ignorant American like myself?

well all dances within a region are remotely similar. so georgian and armenian dances have sooome basic similarities, but, dances are usually regional. meaning, each part of armenia had its own version of a dance. each had a symbol. the first dance at the beginning of the vid is "kocharee" which is an armenian warrior dance performed by soldiers before going to war with invadors (usually turkic peoples). the other one where people are standing on eachothers shoulders is called "pert" (fortress)

the dance "pert", (or fortress) as the name insites, originally came from when persia invaded armenia, soldiers would climb on eachother's shoulders to scout out enemy troop movements, and eventually grew the symbolic nature of a fort protecting our lands
