Make your own royal icing. Gotta be "royal" icing.  Give it time to set before you add the roof. I wish I could post a pic, I made mini houses for all the kids in the family.

Suggestion for next time.. i think if you put powered sugar in the frosting to make it stiffer it works.. I heard, but it's still a funny video HAHAA ^_^

This is hilarious. My boyfriend and I tried making a gingerbread house with my little cousins and the outcome was the same. The damn thing wouldn't stay together so we sat outside in 20 degree weather and held it together for a few minutes so that the icing would freeze... it stayed together but it looked like shit. Oh well, Merry Christmas everyone!

i love doing these!! the icing takes awhile to set though. so what i do is put icing down and set up the walls then prop the walls up with books while the icing is setting. lol. then for the roof i do the same. and then once it's all dry and set up you can decorate!! i guess i'm cheating!! =P

the icings in the kit are usually pretty bad. last time i made a house i found a recipe online to make royal icing. it was really easy to make then the ginger bread house sticks together way better and the icing dries right away.

haha i kind of think you have to make the frosting get tacky first like eyelash glue. a blowdryer works really great too and just hold it in place until it dries completely [a pain i know]. but hey it works for me.
