Ay!! todabía nadie explicó con claridad, por qué los ataques en Aikido son tan idiotas... Es un arte marcial maravilloso, pero esos ataques tan irreales...........
this guy is a living legend! good thing we have real instructors with proven lineage; i studied from tama sensei (8th dan)who learned from sunagama himself an direct student from o-sensei. aikikai is still taught at the dojo, i find it more "true" to it's roots unlike "Ki" aikido!
falcon flyer, it was tradional that all prationers of aikido to wear the hakama...Osensei deemed it proper for all his students to wear the hakama, it was a sign of respect for the samurai tradition. nowadays in modern aikido only dan graded students wear the hakama and some dojos allow women to wear the hakama prior to dan grading..
@bushido774 actually how early you wear the Hakama has more to do with your organization or instructor. In my dojo you allowed to start wearing one after you pass your first belt test which would be 6th kyu rank. Yes many of your more traditional Aikido schools only allow Shodan and higher ranks to wear them.
I study under Sensei Jim Wood (Godan 5th Dan) and my assistant instructor is Andrea Kraus (Sandan 3rd Dan). My Organization is called Dojin Aikikai and I believe it started out of Texas and is currently run by Sensei Ed Francis. I believe Suenaka shihan had a significant role in my organizations past. Anyways we train out in Riverside Ca. Your more than welcome to come join us sometime. We'd love to have you come out for a training session.
I belong to Aikido of Scottsdale dojo, which is affiliated with the USAF. My sensei is Glenn Brooks 6th dan. You are welcome also, to train anytime with us in Scottsdale. If I am in Riverside or near it. I would like very much to train at your dojo with you.
Thanks my fellow Aikidoka. I will keep that in mind. If your interested we have a website just go ahead and google Aikido Riverside. We are the second link down I believe and our dojo is located at 1445 Spruce St Riverside Ca. Thank you for the invite, and if im ever in Scottsdale I will most certainly train with you guys even if im not allowed to wear my hakama. lol
I've trained in your dojo many times, when I visit Scottsdale. Very nice dojo. Sensei Brooks is the toughest Sensei I've studied under, lol. He can be funny, but makes no bones about it when he doesn't like what he sees. I'm sure I'll visit again in the near future.
I m italian and i pratice aikikai in Rome with Kavamukai sensei. But i pratice aikido from three months it s a very difficoult martial art i m studing basic techniques like ikkyo sankyo iriminage tenchinage ecc ecc.Kavamukai my sensei has been a Yamada student
It's funny you ask that. I noticed that one too. I've practiced it a long time ago under Sensei Peter Bernath. That's not surprising considering he studied under Yamada. Don't recall the name though.
The attack is SHOMEN-UCHI (overhead strike). The movement is a TENKAN OMOTE (start facing uke and finishes facing the same way - moving to the front not the rear). The throw is a NAGE. So, perhaps it would be Shomen-Uchi Tenkan Nage (Omote).
I noticed the American uke, obviously quite proficient at aikido and wearing the hakama. How could an Amercian get so high if Yamada didn't arrive in NY until the year this was made. Were there Americans studying in Japan with O'Sensei?
nice video. i liked the intro with the pictures and the history. i would possible change the lenght of the last demostration (i think its the org. 50's demo) to keep the viewers who are not aikidoka interested. i really liked the ending how you jumped back to present day footage
Great video. Yamada Sensei is powerful. If you have any videos of Hagihara Sensei please post. I use to take his classes at the NY Aikikai (which I think he started) many years ago. Thanks for showing this old video with him.
Sensei had shown us his Amazing skills level, moves like water, no resistance and at the end its devastating crush power.I personaly love this martial art style.
@AikikaiAikido I studied 2 year at NyAikikai and I can say, Yamada Sensei and Sugano sensei (RIP) are great, I don't know Fujita Sensei personally but I watched some videos of him, and I liked his style a lot.
