This commercial wouldn't bother me except for the fact that I just spent half an hour on the phone with Dell tech support, trying to get my black lid off to switch on the new one, with no success. The old one will not come off no matter what I do! I push in the button really hard and push the lid away from the hinge side (or try to push) but it won't budge at all. Why doesn't Dell have a walk-in store like Apple does? Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it? Please help!

Half you people don't know a thing about computers. The hardware is pretty good. I looked at the Dell inspiron n4110. It has a 640 gb hardware, intel corei3 cpu, and 4gb of memory. Thats really good for the price of $499. Instead of buying a macbook which may cost 1000 dollars, and has less gb's of hardware and the same cpu.

Instead of switchable lids for every mood making it look like your customers are indecisive why not take that money and put it in to better build quality and design. I have always bought Dell, and the only reason I'm looking elsewhere is battery life. Companies like Asus offer similarly style-oriented products with similar capabilities, but for me (college student), battery life is key. The XPS 15z is getting there, but I need those specs, those looks, and that battery life across the entire lineup to make me a Dell buyer for life.

@mcgenetics Definitely not, but it helps Dell double their profit on each laptop they sell. They charge up to $60 for one of these lids on a $500 laptop. The lid probably cost them less than $5, giving them $55 profit. That's probably more profit than they make off of a $500 base laptop.

If it were ONLY about a better computer, you'd want to shut off all fancy Windows 7 aero themes and not clutter your computer with a lot of crap.
