  • What kind of cab are you using?

  • Perfect playing! Need only a more "slap" or agressive sound. :D

  • Great cover, I can play this but your tone and consistency blows mine out of the water. Nice job.

  • You should have more views!!

  • @audiodrummer1 cheers man - appreciate the support!!!!! Yea, I guess there's a lot of people out there that don't appreciate good musicianship.... The rest of us LOVE Dream Theater!!!! :) :)

  • @mjk11outdoors & @AlexGeoffreyForbes

I found a bass tab for a four string on this song (Look for it on 911tabs)

The guy who made it admits it's wrong... but surely it helps. (It looks like the intro you are playing is the as on the tab, which is nice, because it's the only part I've gotten down ;)

I do believe Myung plays this on a 5 or 6-string, though...

  • thumbs up and respect

  • Nice work bro. I'm not that familiar with the song but I can see that you put in the time.

  • what tuning is this song in? Im keen to learn

  • i thought this was played on a 6 string?

i know myung uses 6 strings them, but sometimes changes to 4 or 5 strings but didn't know this song could be played on 4 strings...

  • A-we-so-me. It's amazing man, good job. You're the real deal man. Go ahead.

  • That's one mighty bass man, i love it! I love a lot of treble on my musicman, but hell, you make rumble sound amazing!

  • dude ur good. i just need 2 know where u learned that cuz i want the bass tab.

  • @mjk11outdoors thx for the comment man!!! Unfortunately, I've never been able to find a good bass tab for this either... basically, I just grabbed the guitar tab, and combined with a bit of 'by ear' and 'improv'. Myung follows Petrucci through a fair bit of this song, so hopefully by using guitar tab (and watching this vid), you should be able to pick up a fair bit of it.... Good Luck - it's worth the effort...!!!! :)

  • @AlexGeoffreyForbes u should make tab for this! im having a very hard time even with the guitar tabs.

  • THE BEST

  • I watched all the covers on this, your's is by far the best

  • Awesome playing man, i like the tone of your bass. Keep up the gd work

  • I'm not going to lie. Had it not been for this video, I wouldn't have been able to play this for the Berklee College of Music, or my school talent show.

    AWESOME WORK!

  • What was your feedback for the song? Im auditioning next year and it wouldve been kinda nice to know how they measure your abilities on the instrument. =)

  • dude i totally admire ur effort!! i thot i played bass until i saw this..its totally insane..

  • WOW! nice job dude. it was a bit choppy but this song is everything but simple. 5/5

  • nice bass. whats musicman basses best known for? as in which aspect in the musical sense?

  • Thx dude!

I like Musicman for its tone when slappin / poppin (though I think the Stingray is an awesome product and sounds good fingerpicking as well)... Search Youtube for "Louis Johnson Slapbass"

    - that was the vid that sold me :) :)

  • Looking like a toilet.

  • My god!

where did the mids go ;)

    jk sounds good.

  • my band covers this

its one of the most fun songs ive ever played

  • Hell yea man! It's certainly worth the effort :)

  • u got tabs?

    i cant find a decent one =-[

  • At the end of the chorus, during "into the night, blistering" it's supposed to be D to C#, not D#. And the volume is quite low.

Other than that, awesome video! Great sound and playing. 5 stars. :)

  • Thx for the comment man!!! Yea, you are right about the D to C#, but I didn't realise till after recording :) the other prob is that I have my computer lined through my PA, so yea, it sounds great here, but too low on other computers... oh well.... anyway yea, thanks for checkin it out and hope you got something from it!!!!

  • metal boomed in the last years ;) u idiot. .and will never die coz its grown to a culture thing. . this music is like dancing around the fire in the stone-age with ur cutted head in my hand ..thats the truth and thats the reason ppl love this way of music.. .go and listen ur dancemusic! whatever..

  • well then what exactly would you call good music?

  • great cover by the way. =)
