See! I knew I remembered this girl actually having a deep, powerful tone and vibrato to her voice as a youngster! It's not really possible to lose ones voice over the span of a few short years, absent some intense medical problem of the throat, so it's pretty obvious the voice we hear today is one that her record label encouraged her to use in order to better fit the pop image and sound. They tried doing it to Christina too, but even in Genie in a bottle you can hear R&B influence in her vocals.

yeah. but her vocal style was entirely changed. she can't even hit these notes anymore. when she tries to go near these notes you can tell she strains like hell and she sings too much from her throat. hopefully she relearns how to sing like this.

I think she can, but I think shes both use to singing like this, and she tries too hard to do the voice she does on her cds, a perfect example is when she sings not a girl live , you can tell that the main problem is its not in her key AT ALL lol I think shes trying to get this voice back when she sings the alanis morrisette cover, which btw I think she does an excellent job, especially for britney spears!

When she was still 16, 17, she could still sing with her powerful voice. but as her 2nd album onwards, you can tell her vocal style has changed completely. Now she's getting better and yeah she tries to sing with her real voice with YOK.

Aside from singing not in her key, she also sings from the throat. There's too much pressure in her throat. Now she sings from the diaphragm in YOK. XD

yea not just the throat her nose and her throat, but the truth is, the bad singing may have been on purpose, it all couldve just been an image that she created, its her signature voice, you hear her on the radio, its undeniably britney, but i think shes been out long enough to change and still keep the fans she has, that what I always use to love about her, she reinvented herself, now shes just playing it safe, which makes sense to me anyway lol

I think it was kinda smart, cuz she can still shock people with it, and I added one of her producers for her new album and singles collection, the producer isnt well known yet and I got to ask her a few questions, but the only one she answered was if some of the music was gonna be alanis-ish, and she said sum yes, so britney may finally be doing it, then again those songs may not make the cut, and she had recorded songs that were supposed to show off her vocals but they were never released

Wow. I'm excited then! Yeah usually her vocally better songs are cut out because they don't sound bubblegum pop enough. haha. britney's style is really jazzy and blues and they don't really fall in the pop category so bye bye songs that showcase her abilities.

but she's been taking vocal lessons for a year now i think. so i bet she'll be hitting better notes.

@MrLiamantonyhoughton I don't want to be mean but that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Smoking damages the voice. It fries and kills the vocal chords. Many singers lost their voices because of smoking. If she stopped, her voice would improve a whole lot because her vocal chords' health will improve. Not to mention you will have better breath support. And no, you don't have to train to sing again.

@MrLiamantonyhoughton yes it takes years to fix the damage to your vocal chords as your vocal chords aren't magic. But still, quitting smoking will do you better than continuing. You wouldn't need to train to sing again, you can sing in the first place. The body has to get used to being smoke-free so it might feel a little weird and you might suffer from smoker's cough for the first few months but no, you do not forget how to sing and train again. That is just ridiculous and I sing as well.

i agree about 3, but i dont with everytime, I think she uses her false pitch on everytime, so she doesnt sound so great live with it, like most of her songs, but in the recording studio all she has to do is record a new take when she messes up, but i agree that 3 and unusual you are edited wayyyyy to much , i like 3, and unusual you at first, but since theres so much editing it gets old alot faster, all her songs sound better without the autotune, cuz it give it more of a raw feel

@benjsinister I don't think Britney can sing live at all. She probably damaged her vocal chords throughout the years. She would if she could, after all these years being criticized over her lip-synching.
