  • awesome review i loved your approach to it ...one of my favorite movies

  • ....wow now i wanna see this movie O.o

  • Nice job Artie, l've discovered this movie only 1 week ago and l'm completely in love with Keaton's character. And the ending is so sad and blue

  • What do Woody Allen and Kodak both have in common? They both come in little yellow boxes...BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! i SLAY ME!

  • Awesome review of a great movie, thanks!

  • An outstanding review. I await your rest. While I think Annie Hall was a better-made movie, my favorite Woody Allen movie was Stardust Memories.

  • You know, that was an excellent review...of an equally excellent film. Really enjoyed watching that. And if you ever want to take a break from being a comedy actor, maybe Roger Ebert will bring you onto the staff of his show.

  • You've discovered something AMAZING! (the movie and that you're good doing this)

  • Great review... i almost forgot about that movie. Need to watch it again...

  • Great movie, thanks for bringing it to my attention! I really can't wait for the rest of your top ten!

  • Annie Hall was quite entertaining. I have been aware of it for many years but only recently, within the past year, watched the whole movie for the first time. I thought it was great and captured my attention throughout most of it. I normally go mostly for movies with historical significance or action adventure types but I really enjoyed Annie Hall.

  • *watches this vid*

    *clicks on N*tflix tab*

*Types 'Annie Hall' in search bar*

*Not Available* "......Of course not, well then"... :(

    *Clicks P*rate Bay tab.....*

  • I fell in love while watching this movie. And it ended pretty much the same way and we can never go back. It sucks, but watching this movie takes me back.

  • Annie Hall was never my favorite Woody Allen movie, but you make some good arguments. I'll have to give it another shot. Thanks.

  • This definately is one of the best films of all time :) Woody is a genius. Looking forward to your other reviews Brandon!

  • i think i saw the sleeper before you were born and thought it was kinda funny. i had a creative writing class in high school about 35 years ago, where i did best in "stream of consciousness", i think it comes from "creative punishment" in catholic grade school 40 years ago, where punishment was composing "life inside a ping pong ball" and other such writing activities, not to mention the entire geography text book in 5th grade. now i'm a top 10 contributor for travelocity, go figger!

  • i hope "v is for vendetta" is in your top 10. i recently lived through a "failed romance", talk about 10 years of life down the crapper! i used to tell people about my family, they thought it was so funny that i should do stand up, but it was all true. maybe i should write about me... i spoon feed a few now and then, they are on the floor... you should see the response to me shooting 1 TV, 2 pair of levis and an NRA cap in my bedroom, all with one bullet! only the TV died...it's still there.

  • "It's an embarassment of what romantic comedies have become - They don't have to be shitty, but somehow they manage to be shitty 97% of the time."

How true. Which is why I barely ever go to see/watch any new romance films anymore.

  • Welcome to the review club! I always hoped you would make reviews, I look forward to more.

  • your description of annie hall reminds me of 500 days of summer. i dont know if they`re alike or not but i enjoyed 500 days of summer very much so it makes me curious towards annie hall.

  • Annie Hall is my favorite Woody picture. He is in my opinion the best screenwriter of all time. Although I would have to say It Happened One Night is the FIRST true romantic comedy. Check it out. Great review

  • On my top ten too. "I need the eggs".

  • Watched it, watching the wrestler atm.

  • I love this.

  • There have been shitty romantic comedies all the way back to the silent era

  • nice review. nice tone. i think i will watch this now.

  • I'm so excited to see the rest of your reviews! Annie Hall and The Wrestler are both incredible films - at the risk of borrowing your thunder, they are in my top movies of all time. Like you, I had never seen a Woody Allen film until this one; but I was immediately enraptured. It's funny because when you watch some of his other films, it's hard to see Annie Hall as the foundation for his later work (especially tying himself into the narrative).

  • @buzzKillerCSS Sorry... "hard NOT to see"

  • nice review! check out Trouble in Paradise if you haven't seen it yet. it's one of the few great romantic comedies pre-Annie :)

  • Well done can't wait for the next one!

  • Comment removed

  • I'd love to see you review Sleeper! (really)

  • Funny how this is (was) not part of your profession .. but you are I feel one of the best critics I have ever heard do their work!

  • I loved Annie Hall but not sure if it's because of my love affair with NYC for well over a decade or if I like the film. I am not a fan of Woody Allen. You ever notice how you can't just refer to him as Woody or Allen; it has to be Woody Allen because he's so freakin unremarkable, if you used one name, no one would know of whom you were referring. Valid points about the film. Hope you venture away from the top ten list. Best wishes. BTY, The Breakup was good . . ., or maybe I just like Chicago!

  • a review of oldboy would be nice :D

awesome work by the way :)

  • @wizafrenchaccent Holy crap, I would rip Running With Scissors apart. That movie was awful.

  • @ArtieTSMITW I wouldn't say that it was awful, just dull and overly sweet, especially toward the end.

  • I'd love to see you review Running With Scissors and One Hour Photo. And thanks for this new serie, love it!

  • I like this series you've started...I look forward to seeing what other films made your list!

You are very good at reviewing them as well.

  • Another reason to watch this movie is because all other, well most other, romantic comedies borrow ideas from this movie. Watch Annie Hall & you'll def' see aspects of this movies in other movies. An example is the erratic female driver - Annie - you'll see this copied in 'My Best Friend's Wedding' - Cameron Diaz - & 'Blast From The Past - Alicia Silverstone -

  • I second pantheongaia. After hearing this, i'd be willing to watch this movie, which is not something easy for people to convince me of.

  • Do more reviews besides top ten, your great at this. Very in depth, with excellent narration.

  • @joequin50111 I think I will, actually. I really enjoy making these.

  • @ArtieTSMITW YOU LIED! I bet the view count is off putting but this is really interesting.

  • Going to make an effort to see this one!

  • Oh dear, I think you've got a talent. I loved this review. Please do more!!

  • awesome review. keep em coming!

  • You are awesome in American Pie 7 !

  • Larry David is the modern day Woody Allen.

  • Annie Hall is one of my favorite films. And is a great romantic comedy. But I think the original romantic comedy has to be City Lights with Chaplin.

  • Nice Review :D I look forward to the 9 others :)

  • Oh I like your movie reviews! You have good taste in movies. Keep it up!

  • I hate this movie.

However I think you would be a great reviewer.

You have a clear voice & excellent diction.

You have a manner that is natural & down to earth & you use a vocabulary

that is descriptive & yet does not say; "I am better & smarter than you."

You should do many more & see if you could sell your wares to IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes.

  • I sure hope you have Kubrick in here somewhere.....

  • Well done Artie. You hit it right on the head. Good movie to review.

  • So... Ben Stiller isn't original? ZOMG

  • My top ten: shawshank redemption godfather batman begins matrix leon the mummy memento terminator 2 the lion king the message
  • I'm loving the James Rolfe style retro movie reviews, Brandon. Keep em comin I'll keep watchin.

  • That is really thoughtful and well done. Very well edited too. Looking forward to your other reviews! Good to see you back on the YouTubes.

  • I've never seen the picture, but I dig the review. ;)

  • This was one of the movies that inspired me to want to be a writer. It is definitely a writer's film. Excellent choice!

  • Anyone here who likes Woody Allen movies, or good romantic comedies in general, should check out his latest film, Midnight in Paris. It's one of the best movies of the year.

    /totally not a paid comment.

  • I loved Annie Hall as well, and stumbled upon it in the same fashion. I was managing a video store at the time and was trying to watch all the Best Picture Oscar winners from 1960 on. Annie Hall was so much better made than Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Affraid to Ask. But the latter made me laugh more! Good choice for the 10 spot!

  • This was before marketing ruined films.

  • annie hall ha? the movie like bla bla bla i don,t know the goal from this movie

  • So when is your sex tape gonna be leaked Brandon?

  • love woody allen

  • awesome review , i'll have to check this one out =)

  • great review, can't wait for the next one!

  • How often are you going to be posting these Artie? Just curious because I watched Annie Hall after this video and I absolutely loved it so im really interested in seeing what other movies you have in mind

  • Such a great movie. And you know, I never even considered it to be a romantic comedy until you pointed it out.

  • Nicely reviewed! Ever thought of becoming a critic? Your review actually made me want to see what I'd probably otherwise overlook.

  • I realized that I rarely read reviews about movies I haven't watched yet because I'm afraid that they might spoil it for me. But I really enjoy reading reviews after I watched the film, just to see if the reviewer agrees with me about whether or not and why it is a good or a bad one.

I really like your video because I probably love "Annie Hall" as much as you do but I never could have explained why like you did. Thank you. :)

  • Thanks for giving me the push I needed to get this movie. Woody Allen and some Lo-mein with my ex... it's gonna be a great night.

  • I really hope one review is back to the future

  • Woody Allen's personality isn't as you see it on screen. In the documentary/biography you see that he isnt this witty somewhat charismatic man but rather a reserved or shy, and not as outgoing as you'd think from being such a renown storyteller. Kind of disappointing after having been enthralled by his personality (as you said) in his movies.

  • @ArtieEAMITW - The place where his personality gets really annoying is the part in California when he is banging up his rental car and he gets neurotic with the cop. At that point, he is so whiny, you either want to choke Woody Allen or put a skirt on him.

  • absolutely love this review

  • I can't believe that you still make videos after 6 years of YouTube. Most people like you forget their roots and stop making YouTube videos once they become famous. Thank you for that.

  • Awesome, just watched this and I did indeed miss Jeff Goldblum.

  • u should reenact ur top ten movies!

  • This review encouraged me to find this movie. I'll be watching it shortly.

  • ok so im gonna have to watch this! thanks :)

  • thanks for the review/suggestion! I'll definitely try to find it

  • You should do more than just 10 reviews, you should try making these more often.

  • Small Time Crooks

  • I'm going to watch it and after that re-watch the review, thank you :)

  • My dad loves this movie, and HE'S A CATHOLIC!!!! WHAAAAA...

  • It's a fantastic movie, and one of my definite favourites, but I'm not sure if I would go so far as to call it the "original rom-com". Take a look at the likes of 'The Awful Truth' from 1937. Wickedly funny and without any of the schmaltz and smarminess of more contemporary rom-coms.

  • Very well done...I've heard of this movie but had no desire to watch it...Until now.

  • looks like a lovely film :)

  • yeaaaah, more reviews pls! gogo!

  • I'd never heard of this movie until now and I've never seen anything with Woody Allen. But this definitely looks like a great movie, I can't wait to watch it now :]

  • In my opinion, The proposal is one of the best modern love story movies. its nice and enjoyable to watch :) plus its funny

  • wow thank you for ruining the movie

  • @omrimeller It said *move review* in the title, and you clicked on it expecting not to be surprised? your stupidity amazes me

  • Dude, that was an excellent, excellent review. You are multi-talented! Annie Hall is one remarkable movie. I saw it the best way to see any movie, with no knowledge of it or expectations about it, and I was surprised to say the least. I still recall some of those scenes word for word, years later.

  • Can't wait to see it :) Thanks for this

  • very well informed, I love when people post videos with a lot of good information instead of just saying something stupid like "well I like this movie a lot, I don't really know why i just do i guess, is that weird?"

ugh, bugs the hell out of me. nice job Brandon, thank you for bringing some class into the world.

  • Outstanding commentary. It made me put it on my list of movies to watch this year.

  • I think 500 days of summer borrowed from this movie.

  • Im sure youll be in a movie one day that will make it to everyones top 10

  • this is great! keep making videos like this! youre awesome! never stop creating :D

  • This just sold me on the movie. i didn't watch the whole review because spoilers. i will see for myself. Thanks.

  • This looks great man. Awesome review. I gotta check it out.

  • I think Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind succeeds in a similar way to this film. Insofar as its unique way of telling a love story. Looking forward to watching the rest of this 'series' Brandon!

  • @LJGB1 That's true... and that movie holds a place on my list. I'll definitely be talking about this one.

  • thanks for the review dude.

  • I'm looking forward to more

  • I loved it, like nearly all woody allen films!

  • On a scale of 1 to 10....you did a 10 as far as an in depth review/analysis goes. Well done, young man!

  • N1 Bro, excellent film!

  • Very nice review buddy, looking forward to the following nine.

  • You're a man after my own heart, man.

  • Nicely done, Brandon. I can't wait to see the others. :)

  • This is so perfect. You are the greatest! <3

  • excellent elocution

  • I'll have to see it now. :)

  • Wonderful, Brandon!

Question: Have any other Romantic Comedies ever won best picture?

  • Dude, you really have some ability in that there reviewing, and you didn't even have to resort to and/or rely on silly internet schtick for filler. (not that there's anything wrong with schtick and filler) Seriously looking forward to the other nine!

  • what's amazing is that just today I thought about reviewing movies myself since i have some spare time. but then i found you beat me to it.

if to use a popular and recent analogy - you shot an arrow to my knee.

  • Nice review! I think I have to see this movie now.

  • Whatever works changed my life.

  • One of my favorites as well. Thanks for sharing.

  • Nicely done! Not only are you a great actor, but your overall love for movies really comes through in this review. I'd love to see more of these.

  • Nostagia Critic already ruined the Walkin joke.

  • I think it was one of the first, if not the first, movie to break the fourth wall. You just didn't see it then in a big movie at least.

  • Good review, but I still hate it because it beat Star Wars.

  • Ah, so 500 Days of Summer must have been inspired a bit off this. Frickin' love that movie.

  • r u jew? mother of god

  • You are good in reviews man

  • Fantastic review! I am really intrigued and want to see this now. Happy New Year, looking forward to more of your work!

  • Nice editing.

  • Sounds pretty interesting.

  • awesome dude

  • sad seeing that there are many pwople that DON'T know any Woody movies---- sad-- good review thoug Brandon. Oh and the same people that don't know of this movie are the same ones that think your name is Aryie--- LOL! Funny stuff

  • That was a fantastic movie review, can't wait for the next one!

  • very good review i really should watch some more woody allen movies

  • Great Job Brandon, looking forward to more.

  • Nice review

  • Agree with benja... Great review

  • I really like this idea, you should do more than 10, youtube's movie reviewing community is growing by the day and i would be so happy if you were part of it

  • Have you ever seen 500 days of summer? Give that a watch, I think it's a good example of a movie breaking out of the modern stereotype of shitty romantic comedies.

  • you do great reviews, looking forward to more

  • You do reviews well too! Look forward to the other 9.

  • this was great

  • This and When Harry Met Sally are two best romcoms

  • @the1janitor They really are :)

  • @the1janitor You are so correct.

  • You are amazing in American Pie 7 :D

  • Wow, This is awesome.. Keep these coming Artie! Amazing reviews :o.

  • Damn! The Walken scene is the only part of the film I've watched.

  • Great review, thanks! Looking forward to the other ones.

  • cool

  • Nice review :)

  • He's the guy from Bucky Larson!

  • Just glad to have you back :D

  • That was really engrossing, Brandon. Really good editing and a content rich review. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks for making it.

  • Been meaning to watch 500 Days of Summer for I don't know how long. But I think a great film (my favourite as well) that could be classified as RomCom (I'd call it Drama/RomCom) is Garden State. Although it has the odd cliche moment.

  • Brilliant. Annie Hall is one of my all-time favorites as well. I hope you do more of these.

  • great review. very well done.

  • Great idea! Need to watch this movie again!

  • To me, "The Graduate" is the original rom-com. It mostly focused on the difference in culture, but it had the right idea with the concept of a romantic comedy.

  • Brandon...you're quite an amazing guy. Mark my words, if I ever get in to the film industry, I'm gonna contact you.
