Thank you for posting this series of videos. They are extremely helpful, especially if you don't have a copy of the program yet, to get the basics of the user interface. I'm going to be moving from a Final Cut editing environment to either an Avid or Adobe environment and I really needed to see how the program works in action. Even seeing the mistakes is useful. It shows how the program may not behave as expected, which is something Adobe's professional tutorials don't show.
@FoxWolf87 Okay, if a file doesn't import, you re-encode it in another format (preferably lossless). Doesn't matter how the program behaves...you have to handle some things. For doing music vids, Premiere is usually sufficient. Anything with more raw media (over ten minutes of finished product), Avid is way better and will save you headaches because of the file and bin handling. My dos centavos.

WOW... i'm in film school and yeah... you kinda suck dude. I usually work in AE and PS, but for school i'm going to have to do premiere too. Well this isn't very helpful.
@TheSwampstuff Sorry to hear - i made this when i was like 14 - please see my short films - if this video wasn't helpful then Adobe have some tutorials on their site.
@TheSwampstuff, YOU kinda suck dude, because you can't work out that danonabouncycastle has made this for people who have no film background and need to learn the basics. Learn not to trash somebody else's efforts from your I'm a film school student high horse - or the real world will hit you real hard when you leave the film school bubble.
@dawesiedogs I kind of think that danonabouncycastle needs to learn the basics and where his footage is before he plans a tutorial. People look at this stuff and want to learn something. Personally, I know it ALL. I know the program possibly as well as anyone....and that's not a high horse, but that said, I still won't make a vid without planning the attack. Because I KNOW that if I'm looking to learn I'm usually not in the mood to go trialing and erroring through youtube videos.
thanks for vid, my problem is my footage appears larger then preview box, i did figure out how to adjust it buy pulling the corner, but i have to keep doing it for every single scene..is there a way i can just set the footage box (right side)to one setting and have it apply over all my footage????..i have about 500 plus clips to edit it would be a hassel to fix every clib seperately..plz help
hi, my videos don't have audio when imported into cs4? i've looked into all audio setting i can't seem to find what's wrong. do you have any suggestions?
Good tutorial..to bad there's idiots on youtube that don't know how to appreciate the effort... i wonder if the can troll around so much and want a perfect tutorial why don't they buy expensive tutorial videos???
Worst tutorial ever...i really enjoyed you sniffling around in my headphones..i think someone needs to give you a tutorial on how to make a tutorial.."and if you get that then you have a problem" come on man..take this down
Why didn't you do some planning, at two minutes in you are still trying to find some footage, the reset didn't work, you keep sniffing down the micro phone, It's pure rubbish, why do people bother posting rubbish tutorials?
Hey I was wondering if you could help me with someting
When I start exporting movies with adobe media encoder, I never get the audio in the video. Instead i get two separate files; one audiofile and one videofile. What should I do? plz help, it would be much appreciated :)
You know it erks me that people come on here and complaign about this tutorial. For someone who has spent the last week trying to teach herself this program and pulling out my hair while I was doing it I really appreaciate it. You just tought me how to do something in ten seconds that I spent the last hour baffled about. Thank you!!
@duckgirl1988 Which is what? How not to plan a tutorial? Christ, people complain because a person hasn't actually done what they said they would. If he doesn't have his shit in one sock at any point, it shows a lack of concern for your experience. Any number of resources could have shown you most of what you think you learned here. You don't learn this stuff in a week, anyway. I've been editing for 20+ years, and it "irks" me when I see a person say you can watch a video in the project panel.
I thought this was an excellent tutorial, and it's annoying people find it boring. I'm stuck though, I dont have the timeline like you do, and I cant drag my file to edit. :(
My footage appears really small in the preview box. Is there any way of enlarging it so it fills up the box? I'm new to Premiere and and am getting very frustrated.
thanks man! helps alot

I finally figured out how to make the footage appear the size of the preview box. Will it be rendered that way?
MiraculousMoments 2 years ago
yes.
i think your problam was that your footage was smaller than your project size. did you solve it by dragging the croner of your footage?
dan
danonabouncycastle 2 years ago
Yes, I did solve it by dragging the corner of the footage. When I render it, will it look like the size of the preview box or will it be small again?
MiraculousMoments 2 years ago
it will render exactly as it looks in the viewer :)

in the preview window there is a drop down box that on my screen says 'fit'
yours probably says 25% or something. you want to change it to fit so it will always fill the preview window.
i have added a video anotation at the start that will point to it if you view in hd
hope this helps
