That is where you're stereotyping. Its the standard "all German cars are unreliable." How many have you owned? I can tell you this, my family is big into Hondas, Toyotas, etc. and I have had plenty of experience with those types of cars. So far, I have driven two accords, two civics, an integra, a tC, a Focus, a F-150, an Explorer, and a 325i. Mostly though, the Integra and the 325i. My experience with the Integra (which is supposed to be the reliable car) was terrible...

German cars are way more expensive to maintain because the parts need to be imported.

In my experience, Hondas have been less "reliable" than a BMW. I know JD Power will say otherwise, but that is what I am arguing against. I don't think cars can be judged on reliability (except for the first 30,000 miles) because it really comes down to the owners care.

The Integra was an all-around bad car. The build quality was poor and the car broke down on me three times in a year, all of which were times when I needed it to run. So when I got a new car I bought an E36 325i and it is far better. Not only is the build quality far better (from the interior to the exterior) but it hasn't broken down once. And as my 325i approaches 225,000 miles, my brothers Civic approaching 195,000 has been in the shop 3 times in the past 6 months...
The point is you can't assume that because a car is from one country that it automatically fits the stereotypes. My brothers car is supposed to be one of the most reliable cars on the planet but its broken down on him more times than my BMW has, and my car has an extra 35,000 miles on it. Realistically, the reliability of a car is determined by how the owner takes care of it. Any car can run for decades with the right care. To rule a car "unreliable" without any experience is nonsense.
Also, if you check you'll find that the M3 was voted BMW's most reliable 3-series car. And I have a few friends with M3s and they run fine. As long as you take care of them and stay in the habit of doing regular maintenance, they should run for a long time. Now if you want to talk about the expense of maintaining different cars, that is a whole different story. But cost of maintenance and reliability aren't the same.

First of all, I just want to make it clear that Lexus should change their slogan from "Pursuing Perfection" to "Perfecting Dullness" because thats what Lexus does best. Their only original idea was the self park, aside that it just copies companies like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes. Toyota/Lexus has long lasting engines but thats where it stops, and every Lexus is a Toyota model with a Lexus badge, some leather, suspension adjustment and the prices are jacked up 10-15k from standard toyota.

OK Lexus is Toyota and Toyota is Lexus, so what?! Audi is an overpriced Volkswagon(if you didn't know) that just got beat by Classy Lexus! Toyota's are very refined reliable cars and the Lexus adds a touch of class on top of that. I've owned a Lexus, Audi and BMW and from my experience, Lexus craftsmanship and engineering is world class compared to the Audi and the nice but generic looking BMW.

Audi all the way, better style, engine and build quality. Audi has real racing history and it shows in the cars they make. Numbers are not everything and it will be a long time before the sedan throne is taken by the Japanese. Plus M3 smokes the IS F and

I love both cars, but I pick the lexus IS F, the reason is, am a rear wheel drive fan, not to crazy about the all wheel drive, but the RS4 is still a beauty, but the ISF is a monster, and long run lasting, Lexus is better buy.

I test drove the IS-F yesterday and I just about shat my pants! When I use to have the A4, I was not impressed with the sluggish acceleration. Granted it was an A4, it shouldve still performed as they claimed it shouldve. Plus this may sound surprising but I dealt with cheap interior and the paint, which was just plain white pain, was mediocre. It chipped too easily. The IS 250 is alright as well, kinda slow for a 6 cyl, but gotta admit it isn't really meant for fast driving.
If you wanted acceleration in your Audi, you shouldn't have gotten the A4 and going from 170-200HP to 400smth of course you'll feel like you are in a rocket ship. Same thing with my car, i've got ~300whp on a probe and people who own probes that ride in the passenger seat think its fast as hell. Sure its not bad but coming from 165chp to 300whp makes a difference, same difference you felt when you drove the IS-F or same as if you've gotten an S4/RS4.

I prefer Lexus over Audi, but i think this "review" is incomplete. I don't think the ISF is better than Audi, The simplicity that lacks Lexus it's what gives Audi the win, but everything else give the win in the long run to the Lexus, is a matter of balancing it all to one side is what it will give the win to just one of these. Hope BMW, Lexus & Audi figures that out next time.
This is the worse comparison ever...they r 2 different class, different drive-train, their HP r miles different. It would have done much better if the Lexus IS-F compare with the BMW M3 sedan or the C63 amg.
Plus, the IS-F gear is lame..8 gears is way too many, with the high torque, the power is always up on the top range that hard to reach...so u have to really REV tat lexus to pull out the power. one of the reason why AMG is going back to 5 gears instead of their fancy 7 & 8 gears.

i dont know what these guys are doing. you cant compare a RWD car to an AWD car. the best comparison for the IS-F would be the M3. i cant think of a car for a good comparison for the RS4. something AWD with similar hp and similar price. STI's and Evo's arent powerful enough, and the GT-R is a class above the RS4 in performance and price.

OK Lexus is Toyota and Toyota is Lexus, so what?! Audi is an overpriced Volkswagon(if you didn't know) that just got beat by Classy Lexus! Toyota's are very refined reliable cars and the Lexus adds a touch of class on top of that. I've owned a Lexus, Audi and BMW and from my experience, Lexus craftsmanship and engineering is world class compared to the Audi and the nice but generic looking BMW.

I love both cars, but I pick the lexus IS F, the reason is, am a rear wheel drive fan, not to crazy about the all wheel drive, but the RS4 is still a beauty, but the ISF is a monster, and long run lasting, Lexus is better buy.

I test drove the IS-F yesterday and I just about shat my pants! When I use to have the A4, I was not impressed with the sluggish acceleration. Granted it was an A4, it shouldve still performed as they claimed it shouldve. Plus this may sound surprising but I dealt with cheap interior and the paint, which was just plain white pain, was mediocre. It chipped too easily. The IS 250 is alright as well, kinda slow for a 6 cyl, but gotta admit it isn't really meant for fast driving.

If you wanted acceleration in your Audi, you shouldn't have gotten the A4 and going from 170-200HP to 400smth of course you'll feel like you are in a rocket ship. Same thing with my car, i've got ~300whp on a probe and people who own probes that ride in the passenger seat think its fast as hell. Sure its not bad but coming from 165chp to 300whp makes a difference, same difference you felt when you drove the IS-F or same as if you've gotten an S4/RS4.
I'd take the RS4 any day :)

Opinions are all good and fine but numbers are the bottom line and the Lexus won. I LOVE CARS. The Lexus is a good quality car ppl need to stop the pointless hate. That being said i still want the RS4 over the Lexus... why? Did that just happen? I'll keep my '08 Imola RS4 w/titanium even if it is two tenths of a second slower than that Toyota. Funny, I'm pretty sure the IS F(ail) was created post-B8 RS4 release, giving it a distinct advantage, by having a benchmark to overcome.
That reviewer guy is a tool, and made the review that much worse. What a waste of 8 minutes of my life.
I'm going to drive my Audi now, because it's fun. Fortunately, I DO own one of these cars, unlike many of the characters below...

I prefer Lexus over Audi, but i think this "review" is incomplete. I don't think the ISF is better than Audi, The simplicity that lacks Lexus it's what gives Audi the win, but everything else give the win in the long run to the Lexus, is a matter of balancing it all to one side is what it will give the win to just one of these. Hope BMW, Lexus & Audi figures that out next time.

This is the worse comparison ever...they r 2 different class, different drive-train, their HP r miles different. It would have done much better if the Lexus IS-F compare with the BMW M3 sedan or the C63 amg.
Plus, the IS-F gear is lame..8 gears is way too many, with the high torque, the power is always up on the top range that hard to reach...so u have to really REV tat lexus to pull out the power. one of the reason why AMG is going back to 5 gears instead of their fancy 7 & 8 gears.

Guys stop criticizing the cars...most of you have never even ridden either car...my uncle is proud to own both. Of course the Audi would win the slalom. It's 4WD. What are you even expecting? The Lexus is a slightly less comfortable car yet hold higher residual value. And Lexus has absolutely stunning service and customer service. Audi is a nicely designed car yet the service is shotty.

i dont know what these guys are doing. you cant compare a RWD car to an AWD car. the best comparison for the IS-F would be the M3. i cant think of a car for a good comparison for the RS4. something AWD with similar hp and similar price. STI's and Evo's arent powerful enough, and the GT-R is a class above the RS4 in performance and price.
