Not that short-lived, I guess. They were around for more than 6 years. That's a pretty good run in those days for a station that never had any ratings to speak of.
It's weird but I miss the crackle, sizzle and overcompressed squish of AM radio. So many of these songs that I used to listen to on AM just don't sound as yummy on CD. yep, I'm getting old...
I heard this station one day in 1986 when I went to Seattle with my parents- it was after we'd lost The Quake in San Francisco- I was glad to hear the format alive somewhere, but on **AM**??? It sounded awful!
Thank you so much for posting this. "Anyone else feel old?," you ask. Maybe....but nostalgic & appreciative, mostly. We were lucky in the wee ol' Seattle area to have had the stations we did. :)
