i heard that if you wrap your xbox in a bunch of towel/blankets while it is on, the red rings eventually go away. My friends tried this and it worked. it only take about an hour or so. hope this could help.

I get RROD all the time.. block the fans then turn on your xbox and leave it for 10mins or so. Then remove power cable and unblock fans and it should work ;)

Prob will come up with an overheating message when you turn it on aswell.

P.s i use match sticks to block fans

either way, i'm surprised an elite got the RROD... unless it's an old one. My xbox 360 got RROD 2 years ago, after i had owned it for a year and a half, and i put off calling xbox support for at least 6 months. IDK why... but when i called them, it was awesome, free shipping labels, free box, free repair, free shipping back, and a 1 month XBL Gold card. RROD sucks, but i didn't pay a cent to fix it, and the replacement STILL works fine :D
