  • i have this at the back of my head the nape area ><

  • i have this the top of my head is bald but its growing back!

  • hmmm, effects mostly women, wonder why.......

  • @zestydude87 well if you saw in the pictures in the video and if you google up trichotillomania in the images, it's men too :)

  • I've got it, but not as bad as her. I'm 14. Often, when I'm bored or stressed, I pull out my eyebrows, eyelashes, or hair. I've got long hair so I can cover it up pretty good, but I hate it.

  • If you'd be interested in sharing your story on the show True Life on MTV, check out our channel for details!

  • I don't pull my hair out, however my sister pulled out her eyebrows and the hair on her head. I'm pretty sure it runs in my family, because I never pull my hair out, however I touch it all the time.

  • I dont have a single eyelash do to this condition, i feel so alone.

  • I only do it when I'm stressed...I think I don't really have trichotillomania, but some sort of derivation of it mixed with anxiety. When I feel something's wrong, or when I'm incredibly nervous, I'll start pulling my hair. Other than that, I play with them, but it's not self harming.

  • my mother has it....and so do i

there must be a genetic predisposition to it

my mother never got help for the condition

  • not a medical mystery. its a form of ocd. and its very embarrassing.

i have suffered from it since my teens. went to a dermatolgist in my 20s...he told me...just stop....great advice....fucking idiot

  • @brabon1 its not ocd....

  • @liltone20 A form of OCD. Not ocd itself, a form..

  • I am 24 and i've had trich since i was 5 yrs old...

  • I have trichotillamania and i started in 6th grade and i had a huge bald spot in the back of my head its soooo hard to stop I still do it and now im in 8th grade and my hair still hasn't grown back :(

  • it started when i noticed an eyelash that was out of place and ever since then it went downhill :(

  • i have it too its difficult trust me

  • I have something that is really working for me for pulling

    send me a msg

or look for me on facebook

    facebook/puresynergy

  • ive been doing it to my facial hair for three years and have moved to riping out my chest hair.

  • im picking my hands right now .

  • im so sad coz i also have the same problem. I know its bad and i know if what will be the result if i keep on pulling out my hair but i just really CANT stop it. i feel like im crying while im watching this video. Im trying to control it now. Im really trying my BEST! 4 those who have the same problem as mine, we can all do it!! Lets try our best to stop it. :'))

  • @kEmaru47 I have something that is really working for me for pulling

    send me a msg

    \

  • i still pull but im learning to control it its not as bad anymore

  • I did when I was three. But then never again.

  • ive been pulling out like hair for like almost a year now. im 15. im really ashamed of it. its really humbling to know that so many other people are in the same state as me. it sucks really bad when people some up to me and say "oh my god, your hair is like the thinnest thing ever," and gives me wierd looks. every day i want to stop but 10 minutes later i find myself doing it again and again.

  • Is this condition only limited to pulling OUT your hair? Cause I kinda tug but never pull it out, I more twirl, but I do it so damn compulsively. But my mom has the full on version like these girls. I'm a man so I also wonder if there's a difference between the way the sexes do it.

  • @dnlgberry Uh oh. D: You should stop. It started out as "just twisting" for me, too. Gradually it moved to constant plucking. Now I have a huge bald spot in the center of my scalp. As far as I know, it isn't different with males. But don't end up in the same boat as me. :/

  • I have this really bad habit of actually taking tweezers and plucking my (sorry if this is graphic) pubic hair... I can't explain it relaxes me.

  • I have been pulling for 17 years now. I have no idea how to stop. I took the light bulbs out of my bathroom so I cant see in the mirrior but when I sit to watch a movie I pull my hair the whole time. Im 28 now and not even my best friend, mom or my boyfriend know about this. NOBODY knows my secrate.

  • For all of you out there that think you can't do it, you can!!! All it takes is willpower. You just need to want it more than you want to pull. I wear band aids or gloves on my fingers so I physically can't pull my brows or eyelashes. I have been pull free for over a month, and you can too!

  • video made me almost cry, because i have the exact same problem too and i have to go to an all girls school and put on the expression that makes me look normal.

  • Trichotillomania-surgery

  • @britneyslut Excuse me. Britney "SLUT" Some people dont want, or cant efford to get surgery, dont watch videos you dont understand

  • @BRNandSGB It's Britneyslut go to my page to read more about my youtube name ,i have this disorder so i'm sharing the info with others its to remove hair from the stomic .and do not reply rudley to comments you do not understand .

  • I find it funny that you ignore regical1 comment but reply to me i know you wanted to try and insult me by typing "slut"

  • iHave fucking trich it sucks going through this when your 14 :'//

  • @Regical1 It just spreads to a different region, read up in wikipedia

  • @themousemaster I have it too and I'm your same age. I can't resist picking my eyebrows out. I already have to use an eyebrow pencil and I'm only fourteen :/ you're not alone

  • My 4 year old baby grl has tricho siencee she was 1

  • @Simduhdimdim You need to realise, that IS what a troll is trying to do. Trolling "LOL" videos is like taking a shit in a piss bowl. My advice is to counter-troll the fucker, or ignore him. Counter-trolling is harder but ends lulzier, so I recommend to counter the SHIT out of him.

  • Cut your hair off. Boom. Fixed.

  • @Fishdogpigsquirrel your hair would grow back. it isn't that easy. i've had trich since second grade and i still suffer from it. the most i've been able to do is slow down how much i pull and distribute where i pull so i don't get bald patches. but others don't have it so easy. in junior high, i pulled so much that the hair growing back on the top of my head became a mullet. it's not fun being teased because a disorder you can't control makes you physically stand out from the crowd.

  • @ubergoofball Shave it when it grows back?

  • @Fishdogpigsquirrel do you really think most of us would be willing to make ourselves bald to avoid pulling? that's even more noticeable than the pulling itself. guy's can pull it off pretty well, but what about us girls? especially in K-12. do you have any idea about the depression that comes from normal teasing let alone teasing about hair loss? it's not worth going bald to avoid a habit only i know about. if i shave, everyone will know about it and that'll make me feel worse.

  • @ubergoofball Some chicks look really hot bald. Anyway, why not jus wear a wig? (not trolling, by the way)

  • @Fishdogpigsquirrel 1. a wig is still hair to pull.

    2. i'd rather find a way to stop picking than just cover it up. that's like shoving the mess under the bed or in the closet. and i'm not so superficial that i need fake hair to solve my problems.

  • @ubergoofball I would just stick with being hairless. If someone wants to make of you just tell them to fuck off. You can make it look really sexy too. Get tattoos on your head or something. Don't get me wrong, do everything you can to be cured, but in the mean time, do what you can to embrace it. btw, I wish you the best and hope your condition will be history soon :)

  • @Fishdogpigsquirrel bald with tattoos is not my style. and i'm not willing to deal with everyone who looks at me funny because i look different. it's not that easy and i'm not going to discuss this further.

  • @ubergoofball sue me for trying to be nice! Honestly mate, we all have problems, you're problems don't mean shit to me. "oh noes! I pull my hair out! waaa!" You really think someone sees you with bald spots and cares? Of course not, they will think "oh you have bald spots. Thats interesting", and forget about it the rest of their lives. I have issues that make people afraid of me...do you know how that feels for people to be too scared to walk near you? I would KILL to be in your place...

  • i have this it's very hard to explain to my freinds i'm 14 and it's actually hard to live with =(

  • it's tourettes they say

  • @Simduhdimdim if theyre a troll, do you REALLY think theyre gonna give a fuck?

  • recently i've started pulling off my split ends, constantly looking for split ends to cut off or pull off. but i would never ever pull out my whole hair or eyebrows:/

  • I remember that back in the day when I had longer hair, I'd pull my split ends all the time. I also pull out hair on my body with tweezers. Thankfully, it hasn't been a complete obsession but I get weird about certain hairs in my body & can barely function if I can feel the hair.

  • its not just from the head, i wish more people knew that. I pull out my eyelashes and eyebrows, ive had it for four years, i wish i could stop. ive tried to hard. trich has taken away my self esteem and confidence.

  • @phantomopera24 well im sorry this has taken such a toll on your life, but just like these girls you are beautiful..

  • i have also trich.

  • Wow...I have this but I dont pull from the root ..i break the ends off so I still have thick hair its just never gotten past a certian length...

how do you stop this without medication?...just watching this makes me anxious..

I dont want to have to dread my hair just so it will grow longer...

my hair should have been down to almost my waist by now.

  • @MurderByFluoride LMAO that was a goodone haha...i can"t or wont try to exsplain that one!!:)

  • @MurderByFluoride thats funny because usually people that have this do it to calm down not to release endorphines. endorphines give you enery and a sense of rush for pleasure. Thats why your endorphines get stimulated when you play sports, have sex, etc. trick is associated with a sort of mental illness. not to gain attention and not to pump up your endorphines.its more of a nervous habbit

  • mandy is so hot!! i did this for about a year when i was about 8...i would litterally zone out while watching tv and pull my hair out. I was born with bi polar2 and i tend to have alot of symtoms with terrets(i dont know how to spell it,)autism and schizophrenia. lucky for me i was able to stop.its really mentally hard to go through this stuff. if you dont like the video leave the page.dont make comments to push buttons.grow up

  • do these guys pull out their pubes as well?

  • This is the stupidest shit Ive ever seen, Shes going to turn a trick alright.

  • haha "trick" for short haha :D

  • Mandy is awesome, we need more people like her in the world. She was scared to show herself but she did and it help so many others. Courage is a great thing. ;)

  • @Mimibie

Yes. We need everyone to show themselves. That is great.

  • @levlobotomy Are you being sarcastic?

  • @MurderByFluoride Is this your professional opinion, or an ignorant supposition?

  • i pull out my eyelashes but its not compulsive, i can control it. its just a bad habit for me.

  • trichotillomania is spelt wrong in the tags

  • I guess I can relate because I went through a stage of sucking my thumb when I was like 7-10. I got over it, but this is very weird to me.

  • No, wait I have another solution. Shave all the hair on your body!

  • just don't pull your hair! It's not that hard.

  • @MrPudster1 you are a cock

  • @TheCkybam I know. I'm sorry.

  • @MrPudster1 Holy crap... I hope you go through a stressful event in your life that causes you to start wanting to pull, and you pull out your eyebrows, or your hair, so you can feel what it's like to get constantly made fun of like us. Based on your comment, you're incredibly stupid.

  • @haircutbob2 I had an epiphany and realized how stupid and immature of a person I was. I am truly sorry, and if you are suffering from this illness, I wish the best for you and hope you recover. Once again, I apologize from the bottom of my heart.

  • @MrPudster1 It's fine man. I've learned to just roll with it when people make fun of ME, but when I see people making fun of people with trich in in general, it upsets me, because not everyone handles it well. Thanks for apologizing, I forgive you. And I take back what I said, I probably wouldn't genuinely wish this on anyone.

  • @MrPudster1 It is hard ... I'v been doing this during 7 years... Is unconscious.

  • If memory serves me correctly, I have had trichy since I was 3 years old. Im 18 years old now. Its very difficult to restrain yourself from doing it since its unintentional. I have so much admiration and respect for the girls who come out or post videos on youtube because its so hard and people, mostly parents dont understand. Its a social stigma... but we can fight it

  • im a dude i have this :/

  • @wallonthefloor Me too! So don't feel bad about it.

  • These girls are very brave. I applaud them.

  • i have this with my eyelashes

  • thats is why I smoke weed and dont get bored and dont pull my hair LOL

  • fuck..i have this :(

  • anyone who has trich and wants to talk with someone else who also suffers from it contact

  • @EbeAndZero well if i am a freak that means you love me cause you are a damn straight freak lover. lol. : ) peace. c ya!

  • @EbeAndZero you are wrong and i am right these are freaks of nature. freak lover!

  • @vyanez08 You are just a troll. Go back under the bridge.

  • @tenofivelips poppie pants!

  • @vyanez08 How did you know. Can you see me? I thought the Depends would hide it.

  • I pitty people who have such one-dimensional brains and can't empathise with other human beings. Anything that is slightly outside their boundaries of normality scares the living shit out of them. They think that because you pull your hair out you are insane and you'll probably try to kill them. Calling people names just shows your fear and your brain hasn't developed past that of a five-year-old. It really saddens me that the majority of human life seems to be comprised of cunts and fuckwits.

  • @Libervurto

    yep you're right

  • omg when i was 11 till the age of 12 i had it and then i stoped cuz i was so ashamed of itt and actually had the strength to stop its so hard cuz it feels so good and all whats going on in u'r head is " ohh thats good , ohh i will stop after pulling this 1..." so omg i am so happy i stoped and when i went to thedoctor he told me nothing was wrong with me i tried everything nothing worked and just now at age 14 i started cutting myself and herd about this and now wvwrything makes sence it harsh

  • I started pulling my eyelashes out when I was 8 years old, and I turn 28 next month. I now pull hair from my nose, chin, and fingers. As odd as it is I started pulling hair from my fingers as a consious effort to not pull out my eyelashes when I had the urge. I don't think I'll ever be able to stop. I'm very self concious about my eyelashes, but after nearly 20 years of teasing it rolls off pretty easy.

  • I'm a guy and I think I have this slightly with my facial hear (of course I have my reasons, for some reason allot of the strands seem to be crimped and crooked).

I have to force myself to stop because it's almost starting to become apparent and would look pretty rediculous if I continue lol (I'm thinking of shaving this thing off again anyway)

  • @sweetra3....do you realize how important a womans hair is to her? its like breasts...its part of a females identity....remember how everyone ridiculed britney spears for shaving her head? yea i think i would rather not do that and be made fun of by everyone who is to ignorant to understand this...no offense but im willing to bet you have no idea what its really like....i cry almost everyday because of it...and its not like someone smoking or drinking this is a compulsive disorder...not a habit

  • you have no clue what this is like obviously so dont pass judgement...i bet you have nasty habits too...only this is worse then a habit. it is a true mystery and there is no cure for it.i have suffered from trich for 9 years....why dont you look it up and read what it actually is before passing judgement...i bet you would feel differently about this if you had a loved one or friend who had this illness....

  • i havnt pulled in 3 years :]

  • @xjvzHD That's really awesome. I've mostly stopped, but sometimes pull an eyelash or two. I really look up to people like you who can overcome. Do you ever get the urge to pull?

  • @haircutbob2 nope! never :] its crazy lol it was the biggest thing in my life 3 years ago now i never think about it. i can put my hands through my hair and have 0 urge to pull

  • @xjvzHD good for you! would you mind telling me how you did it? I've been trying to stop since i discovered i had trich in second grade and i still pull. i'm a senior in high school o_o so any advice would be really helpful

  • okay..do we call this a disorder just because it's out of control??

shave everywhere and you won't have to do it, that's it.

  • @sweeetra3

Oh come on, do you think nobody else had thought of shaving her head before?? It is not so easy. In fact it is pretty hard to stop. Very hard. Imagine wanting to quit smoking while having a cigarette constantly attached to your hand. Who has not lived with this cannot know how hard it is.

  • i no some one that does that

  • DOES anyone know HOW I can get alhold of the girl named MANDY in this video.

    Rhonda

  • i have dermatilomania which is similar but i pick at my skin rather than pull out my hair. its awful and i cant stop :(

  • i do pull my hairs out everytime like hair by hair all the time, but i stop if i focus tho

  • my good friend has this.

  • @vyanez08 lol

  • @vyanez08 Please keep your mouth shut about things you obviously know nothing about. This is real, it is awful, and it affects many people in an extremely negative way. Even if you don't believe it's real, you don't need to call it bs or call sufferers stupid. Have some respect.

  • @luvinsingin07 ur a doodie head

  • @vyanez08 Haha, I'm sorry. I'm not sure I understand you. See, I'm 19 and know how to speak...Anyway, in case you didn't pick up on it, no one wants you here. Not that you care. But, I'm done talking. Bye.

  • @luvinsingin07 doodie head.

  • @luvinsingin07 liar!

  • Seeing all these videos with disorders I thanks god I am healthy ...at least for now

  • i learned much from this vid.. i even cried , but still. i can't stop it :/

  • Ftw

  • BTW, some more applied science for the day:

The FDA made it illegal to patent a natural substance. Additionally, it is a violation of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations to diagnose, offer to treat, mitigate, cure or to prevent any disease with anything other than an FDA approved drug or medical procedure.

...cos if someone brought n sold a natural cure for cancer to America than wouldnt the Pharm and Med Industies, Docs n Sugeons..even THE FDA n CANCER SOCIETY...be out of business?

  • Actually not true about me not suffering in public. I did go to school like this till like the second grade. Nothing worst then children making fun of you. As an adult you should be dealing with it way better then a child would. No reason to cry about it. Just shave your head bald untill you get use to not having anything there to pull. Then grow your hair back. If it starts again then shave it again. The bald look is not a bad thing anymore tons of people do it and they dont have a problem.

  • Omg...i spend HOURS at night trying to find that one hair. I live with my granparetns, and they both think im a freak and i dont know how to live with this. Its always the tiny little stubs of hair i can feel under the skin.. i scrape and scrape for hours a night. even at school through the day. its ruining my life.

  • Google 'trichotillomania'.

I've had this since I was 5 years old. I am now 16. I only pull my eyelashes but i am also obsessive about playing with and cutting my hair and bangs, as well as plucking my eyebrows. I don't do it in front of other people, but when i'm alone, all hell breaks lose. It's a compulsive disorder. I feel like i will never stop. it lowers my self esteem so much. I know its self inflicted, but unless you actually have it, you won't understand.

  • @PunkSwagga94

Ive had it since i was three...Im 15. I pull out my eyelashes and eyebrows..and the tiny blonde hairs on my knuckes. Its usually when im nervouse or daydreaming. I used to only do it in my sleep. I use a pencil for my brows...but do you know if there are pills for this?

  • @JesterNlove The only treatment I get for it is therapy. I've never tried drugs, but from what I do know, it's not too successful. I just keep my hands as busy as possible. Handheld video games, clay, writing, or just doing stuff and keeping busy with other people really helps me. I paint a LOT. And I always play with bouncy balls and other little toys to distract me. And what I've found helps (its really dumb) but I sleep with one of those masks in my eyes, caz i tend to do this tuff at night

  • @PunkSwagga94

Yeah, i usually do this at night to or in front of the computer or tv. I learned how to roll aquarter over my fingers...so that helps a little.

  • @JesterNlove Same with me!! Bending paperclips is fun too. I make little scupltures out of them haha

  • i think i have this REALLY MILDLY i like to pull out loose eyelash and eyedrow hairs all the time

  • Bahahahaha, This is hilarious i have pictures still when I was little I had this problem. I have no idea how I stopped but I dont do that anymore.I do remember when I was little my mom took away a blanket i use to suck my thumb with and thats when it all began.Strangely it never hurt when i pulled my hair. And the only time i did pull my hair was to get the feeling of having my blanket between my fingures while I sucked my thumb. I dont see a reason to cry about this.

  • @Ratacon2004 Here's a simple reason to "cry about it": most people don't manage to stop pulling their hair. You are one of the lucky ones who stopped it before it ever got to a point where you had to suffer public humiliation, or do you think that being forced to wear a wig because you just can't help hurting yourself sounds fun? This is NOT hilarious, this is a serious medical condition and you should pay respect to those who still suffer it.

  • I have a question. I pull apart split ends put I don't pull the hair out, its uncontrollable. Is this a sign of Trich?

  • @KindraKarma Try it. Hurts a lot!

  • @KindraKarma A sense of relief that comes with pulling the hair out is quite common in trich I believe.

  • I HAVE TS AND NEED TO PULL EYEBROWS BUT NOT THIS SEVERE

  • @LaBellaa1984 UH HUH OKAY

  • I have a mild form of this shit so i shaved my head lucky im a guy

  • I remember a few years back I was at home and everyone was watching tv. This exact video came on, and everyone looked at me. Even though I tried to laugh it off, I felt really ashamed.

  • They could get like a fake head with fake hair and eyelashes on it

  • for guys it's easy since they could just shave their head... then they'd just have to try not plucking their eyelashes and brows, the girls could do the same but since they're girls they probably wouldn't want to

  • Only in America can people develop such diseases as these, like bulimia people are starving in the world and people eat and then throw it back up, so sad

  • @chrispydogs Wow...lots of people all over the world have trich. There a social network site for people with trich and there are people from New Zealand, the UK, Romania, Bulgaria.

    It's not just the US.

  • oh wow i feel bad for those people ow i just tried to pull my hair and it hrt dont know how they do that

  • @KindraKarma

Yeah, I just caught on to that :) Thanks for clearing that up.

Although I doubt that only one person died... But anyway it can still kill you (which was my point to begin with). It's still dangerous. If only one person has died, then it must be because of its rarity.

  • Larysk: Hair grows back within days, and it only needs to be an inch or so long to be able to pull it out... So unless you want to get your head shaved every day, you're screwed. Plus in many cases the person will move to hair on the rest of the body (eyelash, eyebrow, pubic).

  • Um - I'm not sure - but would a person with that urge to pull ones hair - would shave all the hairs ? Why won't they - I mean - there would be nothing to pull out ? They can't really die from not having nothing to pull - it would be like a detox to them - cause it seems kinda like an addiction.

  • oh my god i have this. i didn't realize it was a medical thingy. :/ well hey now i don't feel so bad about my patchy eyebrows :) i'm not alone

  • @ManekiNekoGeek Same, just discovered this after pulling for 7 years

  • Haha I would tape my hands to my waist

  • My Mum has suffered from trich every since she was a little girl. I'm so proud of these women for coming out and talking about it!

  • i do that with my eyelash i think. except i just do it like 3 times until i get a strand of hair.. and sometimes with my eyebrows.. not with my HAIR though

  • @philwert Trich is not limited to people pulling scalp hair. It is more common that lashes and brows but people with trich pull from anywhere hair grows, some stick to one spot, some pull in several places. I've been pulling out all of my lashes and most of my brows (have one thin line of brows I manage to leave alone) since I was 11.

  • @lakettell yeah i think its a discomfort thing.. i don't do it all the time.. i have long eyelashes, soo they can get in the way or annoying.

  • my ex tyler had this. we hate eachother now and even tho he's a total a word, i still wish he didnt have it. its so hard to live with.

  • This is such a terrible disorder, when I was in high school there was a kid in one of my classes with it and he would tear out his hair non stop. The weird thing about it though he would tear each strand or clump out and would eat the hair.

  • i have trichotillomania :( i havent let my hair down in 3 years because i have a bald spot.

  • I want to TOUCH her tits.

  • I used to have trich. I would pull it from all over my body. I hardly had any eyebrows half the time. My eyebrows are permenently odd-shaped because of that.

  • I also have this condition but my compulsion is to pull the strands of hair in my butt.

  • i have tritchotilomania

  • @KindraKarma i was just kidding :)

it reminds me of cats they always swallow a hairball

  • I have trich and I would be considered a mild case. I have thin patches on the sides of my head that are easily covered by the rest of my hair and I can even put my hair in a ponytail. At one point in my life I had no eyebrows or eyelashes and I looked like an alien! When I started wearing glasses that helped a lot.

  • my mom screams at me and grounds me ecause of this

  • i have this disease it sucks

  • This is hard for me to look at
