The real main character in the movie (played by Sturgess) is actually Jeff Ma, who is Chinese American. But having an Asian as the lead in Hollywood movie may not sell as many tickets... which is why they switched the character to a white boy. Don't believe me? Do a search Jeff Ma on Wikipedia or Google.

hehe, he does indeed! Quite a strong one :) And actually I think 21 was one of the first times he's ever done an American accent for a movie! Some people seem to think it wasn't good, but I personally thought it was pretty darn impressive! I mean you could hear the British accent creep through a couple of times, but it totally sounded like he could have just been putting on a hint of a Boston accent, which worked for the movie! :P

You also say that only fools who know nothing about the Beatles like this movie. Well, I believe my uncle happens to be one of the biggest Beatles fans there is. They are his favorite band, he knows basically everyone song, he has bought many things that has to do with them, etc. And he still loved the movie.

I'm sure most of the songs were written for different reasons than how the directors interpreted them... but it's all about how different people interpret things. If you look at it one way, the songs can have more than one meaning. Like "Hey Jude" wasm't written for a kid named Jude, but they made it so it was Max telling Jude not to be afriad and stuff... I really don't see how them doing that is an insult to the Beatles.

Originality? So just because they didn't write the songs /for/ the movie, they aren't original? I'd think it's twice as hard to build a story around songs rather than writing songs for a story. it isnt about fashion, and if you saw the movie, you would see that they didnt think twice about fashion. you should look at the songs they re-composed as new songs, not them trying to improve the beatles songs, but bring more appreciation to the beatles. and it did.people who normally wouldnt listen to the beatles now have more of an understanding to the songs because of the movie.i know a lot about the beatles including their philosophies and i dont despise it. you should rethink your opinion.
