damn fudge. i totally should've chose this topic for my environmental psychology project. arrgghhhhh. much more interesting than energy efficient windows...
i'm irish and have very fine, oily, wavy, red hair. i tried this just last night, i used both the baking soda and apple cider vin. and then rinsed with cold water after (as was recommended) i have to say that i had little to no tangles, my hair is super soft, however it is a little oily still. you said that eventually you'll be able to wash your hair once a week? what would you recommend for in the beginning? every other day perhaps?
Your hair does have to get used to it, so I would start with every other day. See how your hair does, then eventually you can do twice a week and then once a week. Stick with it! Even if you have to stick with every other day, it sounds like you're having good results.
also i do brighten up my red hair every now and then ( i know this is bad) but do you think it would take out the dye faster? the baking soda and cider? thanks for responding so quickly too :)
I consulted Kaythi about this, and once she gets back to me, I'll let you know what she says. But I found the quote below from a No 'Poo website. It seems reasonable.
"If you colour your hair, you may notice it dulls when you use a baking soda wash very frequently. However, if you've been using no-poo for a while before you start colouring you'll be at a point where you rarely need to wash your hair - at which time your colour may last longer since you need to wash so infrequently. "
I have thick, curly hair and I haven't used shampoo in years. I'm not on any kind of "method", though, I literally "just" wash my hair with water. I didn't know about the "no poo" thing. To me, still using some kind of stuff feels like you're stuck in the old mindframe of "my body can't care for itself".
Keep on keepin' on, though. Just something to think about.
I've been telling my friends about the no-poo movement and they are telling me that it's no fair because Kaythi is asian. Need to find someone with messed up hair to try this as a control.
Kaythi has really fine hair, though. Like people with blonde hair. Maybe we should try it with someone who has curly hair? I don't know. I don't tend to hang out with people who don't have good hair, you know what I mean?
Both of you have beautiful hair.
