Wow does this bring back memories of Kiddieland. I remember so much of it from back then. And I think its awesome that the kiddie Turtle is STILL there. I don't know when they put that in but I can't remember it not being there and I'm 54 yrs old. I love how Kennywood keeps alot of the old rides if for no other reason than for nostalgia. Thanks for posting this.
OMG, this takes me back to such a wonderful time in my life. You boys look to be about the ages my brother & I were during the 60's. Thanks for sharing.
wow...judging from everything seen i've seen in this videom kennywood sure has changed. then again this looks like it was shot in kiddie land. I love kennywood. best place on earth. :) can't wait to go this summer!
My Mom would dress my Brother and I in matching shirts too and we were 3 years apart in age. Dad with the sper 8 and we were havin the time at Kennywood. every year from 1 to 20. Miss the Patato Patch, caused alot of throw ups on the way home.
That new movie that was shot at Kennywood in the fall of 2007 (titled ADEVENTURELAND, unless they changed it), the scenes shot in and around the lead character's house is the house I lived in from 1994 to 2005. - writeroffthelake at Geneva-on-the-Lake (Ohio)
Yeah, back then you didn't have to pay any cover to get in. I grew up in Irwin & sometimes my parent's would take me & a friend or two 3 - 4 evenings a week. Then around '66 - '67 when we were 14-15, the guys working the rides would let us ride for free a lot of the time. We'd go, spend a whole evening just walking around, riding when they'd offer, and not spend a darn cent. It's too bad families can't do that today. Also, those cars are probably the first amusement ride I was ever on.
You can tell this had to be the 60's.....if you watch the flying saucer ride, you can see a ride behind it....it was called The Roadrunner...it burned in the early 70's...
Wow....yes, could have been one of my family's home movies too! I like the two boys matching outfits....my sister and I had matching outfits for our first visit to Disneyworld! The photos of us are so cute!
Oh my God! This video could have come from my family's Super-8 collection! We have footage that was probably taken on the same day of my brother (born in 61) & cousin (born in 58 with glasses). The end was great.... watch dog tied to the tree, burning barrel, river... are you sure we're not related? haha Thanks for the smiles!
They say the new Kennywood will have a bunch of broken down '57 Chevys that you can work on in the picnic area. They will also have El Caminos on the turnpike ride.

Err... The Potato Patch, that is.
That place caused me to denounce Heinz ketchup as an adult; too much of it on fries as a kid.

"Kennywood's Open!" Now that's funny and it just loses everything when you try and translate it to someone who didn't grow up in Western PA.
