Let's make everybody sing, That they are the beginning and ending of everything, That we all are stronger than everything they taught us that we should fear!
This is not really an "earlier version by Tom Gabel," it's from the Acoustic EP 7". The reason it's faster/higher pitched than normal is that whoever made the mp3 has a poorly set up turntable.
I got all the acoustic ones off napster and they were the first against me I ever heard. In like 2000. Someone gave me the album and it pissed me off because it didn't sound like this. This shit still gives me goosebumps. Thanks for this.
This song fucking rocks, and this band is one of the hardest working bands around today. Fuck all those naysayers, have been a fan for years, still am, and they're still doing their very best. So fuck you, teenage anarchists that talk shit about such a hardworking band.
this is my favorite version of this song. this band was always so real. its what drew me to them. the first time i saw them and didnt know who they were(in the very begining of against me!) i had to learn. and boy howdy was i amazed. so amazed that at my wedding joy was my first dance with my wife!
@CondemnedPatriot I think it's because Axl Rose is the complete opposite of the song's lyrics. Axl Rose is a stereotypical "rock star". Hence forth, they want to reinvent what a REAL rock star is, not some asshole who just parties first, then the music aspect of being a "rock star" fits in when its convenient.
@monstargibson Not only does this song suck, but it's a disgrace to tie it to Axl Rose in anyway. And to say the author tagged Axl as an ironic statement is silly in my opinion considering Gn'R played harder, faster and better than anybody in their era.
@cubbyblues unfortunately your opinion doesn't really matter, especially since I, nor anyone else asked for it. Regardless what your opinion is, that is exactly what the point of the song is. Also, just for the record, axl rose and GnR's suck. But hey, that's just MY opinion...
@monstargibson Axl Rose was/is a primadonna to be sure. But to say he put partying first is completely ignorant. You obviously don't know anything about Axl or Gn'R so I won't waste my time arguing with a fan of teeny pop punk music.
@cubbyblues Pretty IGNORANT to assume I listen to "teeny pop punk music", huh, fuck face? You sound like a total asshole trying to defend such a mockery of a rock band/rock star, but keep doing it, because everyone needs a schmuck to laugh at and lord knows Guns and Roses needs those few devoted lemmings, such as yourself, to keep buying their garbage and to slow the process of them sinking into obscurity down. Some advice: Don't use words that you clearly don't comprehend. Have a good one <3
@monstargibson How is it ignorant? If you listen to Against Me, you're a fan of teeny pop punk.
I don't need to defend Gn'R. Records speak for themselves. They're the greatest American rock band ever. Appetite for Destruction is a classic. Chinese Democracy is one of the few good rock records to come out of last decade. They'll never sink into obscurity.
Gn'R was just on a world tour where they sold out arenas everywhere. Slash was on a successful tour, too.
@cubbyblues If you don't see how your comment is ignorant, you have proven my point, so thanks for that. As for "Against Me!", my girlfriend is a fan of their music, not I, but she wanted me to listen to the lyrics of this song. Against Me! clearly isn't pop punk, but I guess I can see how some narrow-minded asshole that is stuck in the late 80's/early 90's (like his favorite shit bands) could fuck that one up. Thanks for re-solidifying the fact that the 98% of GnR fan's are complete jackasses.
@cubbyblues Actually they started recording that piece of shit in the early 90's, but it took them over a decade to simmer down with their pansy bickering and whining like a bunch of overprivileged children long enough to release it in 2008. So yea, again, who's ignorant? Please keep commenting, because you're a fucking joke and a hilarious one at that! :D

@monstargibson True the Chinese Demo sessions were written years ago, but the record saw release in 2008, so your argument still doesn't hold water. You say I'm a joke, but you haven't refuted any of my claims. You just toss out more baseless claims.
I guess everything new or current is clearly better than the old, huh? So the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Hendrix ...
You sure seem to know a lot about Against Me for someone whose girlfriend told him to check out the youtube video. haha
@cubbyblues What arguement? You mean my opinion of Guns & Roses that obviously offended you? Release date doesn't mean shit. If they withheld Darkside of The Moon for 40 years, once released, would it be modern? No, it wouldn't.
Now, associating GnR's with the likes of The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Hendrix is quite laughable and quite insulting, to say in the least.
I don't know anything about Against Me, but I know how to differentiate simple genres of music. Keep 'um coming, jackass! :D

@monstargibson You said: "Rose is stereotypical rock star, asshole just parties first, then the music aspect." Categorically false. You said: Gn'R needs its few devoted fans to keep from obscurity. I said, they sold out arenas across the globe on their most recent tour so the fans are there. You called me ignorant to assume the type of music you like when you made the same assumption about me and "shit" '80s bands. You said they were an old act, but they just released a CD and toured.
@cubbyblues This is just a jumble of words from some guy that's trying to make some kind of lame ass rebuttal. GnR's LEMMINGS showed up to how many concerts to be greeted by a non-present Axl? As for saying I'm ignorant to assume you listen to shit 80's AND 90's bands (you seem to keep missing a decade), its easy to go to your channel and see what you apparently listen to. Trashed. You're still an asshole. Have a shitty one! :D

@monstargibson You're just being a hypocrite now and sound like Axl slept with your girlfriend or something. Calm down. It's OK not to like Gn'R.

And I didn't addociate Gn'R with the Beatles. I simply gave you other examples of older acts that still have a ton of fans and get a ton of airplay. In Gn'R's case, they still exist as a band.
@cubbyblues Put your thesaurus away, and pick up a dictionary, haha. Yet again, you're missing a decade. Your backpeddling is just making you all the more laughable :D

@cubbyblues Yet again, proof your an asshole. Don't be ashamed that you don't know how to really listen to a song. It must be hard considering GnR's didn't have any significant messages.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@monstargibson Exactly. Retreat from an argument that you clearly lost. I have shamed you enough for one evening. Come back at me when you have some substance to baseless claims. This band clearly didn't know what the hell they were talking about when they penned the lyrics.
@cubbyblues Man, you sound like an assclown and an incredible loser. I don't know whats more sad, the fact that you feel you've won something, or that you have yet to realize this isn't a Guns and roses video. Lyrics are subjective, so for what its worth, the song could even be about how you're a 36 year old loser still living in momma's basement. its apparent a hand full of people agree with him over you, so shove off, pathetic one. THUMBS DOWN.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@ASFARtv More assumptions. You don't know me enough to know if I'm a loser. How don't I realize this is a Guns N' Roses video? Resorting to petty name-calling. Why don't you learn how to intelligently express yourself? I'm embarrassed for you.
@cubbyblues You seem to have issues with "assumptions", yet you didn't mind ASSUMING that Monstar was a fan of "teeny pop punk". That is not a fact, its an ASSUMPTION, which, thus far, makes you wrong 3 times in just one statement. 4. Apparent: readily seen. Oh no, your poor indie/punk credibility. If there's ever a band that deserved success, it's Against Me! I've been a loyal fan since 2003, have seen them numerous times in concert and bought every album. Tom is simply a maturing and evolving songwriter. Just because they have more than 4 fans now doesn't mean they pissed on the old loyal fans.
was this song recorded off of the 7" vinyl? It kinda sounds like it was set on the wrong speed, like for 33 rpm instead of 45 rpm. The version I have on vinyl is waay lower pitched; vocal, guitars, and everything. When I put it on 33 rpm it sounds like this
i have the reinventing axl rose vinyl and all of the songs are a little bit faster than the cd version. i prefer it. except that my vinyl player isn't very loud.
ur a peice of shit. this is the kind of music the world should be listening to and making unlike ur bullshit rap that just sings about dehumanizing woman and shoot each other. go fuck ur self and ur 50 cent cds
On this recording it's Dustin Fridkin and Tom Gabel as opposed to what is now Against Me!. The idea was just to have guitar and bass; And yes, the record is played way to quickly in this video.
my all time fave Against Me! song and always will be :) i just love it and what its about and the acoustic is a whole lot better than the newer version in my opinion ^_^
i can tell difference dick, i like the acoustic version a lot better. but if you listen to it, all his screams sound the exact same, except higher pitched than the CD acoustic version. maybe its just the record i dont know.
yeah dude, this is was tied for my favorite song for awhile. it was a tie between this and Tonight We're Gonna give it 35%. I chose 35% eventually, but it took me a long time haha.

On this recording it's Dustin Fridkin and Tom Gabel as opposed to what is now Against Me!. The idea was just to have guitar and bass; And yes, the record is played way to quickly in this video.

compare it with "Farin urlaub - Bewegungslos" - melody are somehow the same

it's not sped up at all.

Well, he did a comparison and you didn't.

it has to do with the "whooaa, whhooaa oohh, whooaaa oohh" in the other version that is why it's longer

The audio really is sped up. It's not detrimental to the song since it's not sped up enough to make it sound like the chipmunks covered it.

hahaha i just read gillyguy's comment about it being sped up. you really can't tell the difference between an acoustic and electric guitar?
FupeLiasco 3 years ago
i can tell difference dick, i like the acoustic version a lot better. but if you listen to it, all his screams sound the exact same, except higher pitched than the CD acoustic version. maybe its just the record i dont know.

this is a sped up version from limewire. its cool, but the speed makes Tom's voice all high pitched haha.
