  • MUST. STOP. WATCHING. CAT. VIDEOS.

  • I still fear that whoever owned (past tense as I'm almost certain this poor creature has given up the ghost) this kitteh now owns more defenseless animals and takes mirthful please in exposing them to Mother Nature's fury. Light a candle, people.

  • eh people are complaining about a leash? Who gives a fuck. If you have an indoor cat that has always been an indoor cat it gives them extra freedom to go outside without the worry of them getting ran over or ate by the local wildlife.

I live with a busy business street in front of me and with a river behind me so its not safe for an indoor cat. My cat has always been an indoor cat since i got him and he loves to go out on his leash.

  • I love it how cats don't have an 'Off' button. They are always on the hunt lol.

  • This should be an Olympic sport next winter. I would watch it!

  • Mah kittehs never gave a crap about snow.

  • Thea reason why he has a collar, is because if he hadn't, he would run into the snow, dissapear and than be found in summertime with ice still in his nose..

  • Pure cuteness <3 :D

  • AWWW so cute ive never had my cat on a leash but i wish iva had cats run away and cats die in my dads arms because they got ran over i think that is a good idea i am obsessed with cats <3 xx

  • i has a snow

  • What's so different from a dog being on a leash then a cat being on a leash?

  • SNOW FLAKES. MAH FAVOLITE TYPES OF CEREAAAAAALS. OM NOM NOM NOM NOM. MMMMM MELTS IN MY... paws... </3 my least favorite cereal...

  • The cat is on a leash because its winter time and he probably runs far away and the family has had problems with it? PROTECT TEH KITTEHS!

  • that is too cute. :D

  • thin tail... happy kitteh

  • If you ran across a lion in Africa, wouldnt you want him to be on a leash? Just look at this Kitteh viciously attacking those snowflakes.. Would tear you up!

  • awwwwwr i love the way it stands on its back legs :3

  • why the fuck is that cat on a leash?

  • @xXxSweetCyNxXx

Maybe it runs away when he get's the chance? My cat is on a leash too, he's young and he is castreted yet so we keep him with us but with a leash he get's the chance to go outside. Or maybe this people live near by a busy road and the cat may be run over. I totally understad why the cat is on a leash.

But it's a cute video my oldest cat loves to eat snow too, when it snows she want's to go outside en just play in that nasty white stuff xd

  • OM NOM NOM

  • Aww~this is soo cute! =^.^=

  • aaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwww Cats are so frikken cute!!!

  • the leash is there for kitties own protection so he doesn't get lost in the snow... I'm sure the leash is not on when kitty is inside...

  • that cat is having an absolute ball!

  • why tied up outside in snow D:

  • @o7VEMESiSo Maybe they put him on a leash so he wouldn't run away during filming. :)

  • I just roughly spent 40 seconds watching a cat nomnom'ing snow.

  • What's the big deal??? A cute video of a cat having fun. No animals were harmed in the making of this video, I'm sure

  • The cats like "I know i caught but where did it go?"

  • seriously, does it look like the cats is in pain.....?

  • @neeraj2608 Wow I haven't been on here for a couple months and there's still people like you making ridiculous accusations and comments. First off, do you really think Cheezburger Networks would show a video where an animal is being abused? This site is for enjoyment...cute animal videos. Second, this is my cat, Margarita. Yes, she goes out on a leash (which she acclimated to in a day) and yes, she's watched at all times. (continued)

  • @juleszigan Third, she's happy. She brings me her leash just like a dog when she wants out or scratches at the door. She loves to be out in the snow and even in the rain. She's never left out any longer than she wants to be out. I mean she's a cat....if she didn't want to be on the leash she'd be flopping around & going crazy. Everyone that's ever had a cat pretty much knows that you can't force a cat to do anything. (cont) @neeraj2608

  • @juleszigan Fourth, talk to any vet. They NEVER recommend that any cat roam freely, EVER. In fact, a few vets made comments on that subject over this video. This video was also picked up by the Florence Oregon Humane Society and entered into a cute animal contest promoting safety and good pet ownership. My animals are far from abused. In fact, I'm teased by my family and friends and how spoiled they are. (cont'd) @neeraj2608

  • @juleszigan I find it amusing and absolutely ridiculous that people would get so worked up about this video and make downright rude comments about me without even knowing me. I have to admit I actually got upset over the first couple comments, but then when I realized that they were by far in the minority and that none of them were founded on animal laws and facts and recommendations by experts, I found it pretty funny. (cont'd)

  • @juleszigan @neeraj2608 Finally, my suggestion to people that make an overly exaggerated big deal over this video is to use that energy on something worthwhile and to educate yourselves. BTW: thanks @paceetrate and everyone else who sees this video for what it is......just another cute animal video. Nothing more, nothing less. :)

  • @neeraj2608 Would you take a dog out without a leash?

  • @paceetrate I thought that was a cat. Besides, they're not taking it for a walk. It's tied in the yard.

  • @neeraj2608 so what if it's a cat? If you wouldn't leave a dog out in an unfenced yard without a leash, there's no reason to leave a cat either. Unless you really think a "good" cat owner is one who lets their pet run half-feral and kill the wildlife, and get into people's trash, and get into fights, and get hit by cars.... Yeah, I'm sure they deserve to have a cat more than these people do. Idiot.

  • @paceetrate

Hey pal, first off, there's no reason to call me an idiot. If you can't keep a civil conversation, then FUCK OFF. See, I can use bad words too.

Second, how do you know it's an unfenced yard? I can't see the periphery of the yard in the video.

Third, why do you think a well-cared and healthy cat would run away from free food and lodging and go off hunting on its own.

By your reckoning, the only "good" owner is someone who keeps his pet on a leash the moment it steps out of the house.

  • I have an evil theory: The cat is tied up in the cold, and the only food it gets is snowflakes D:

    Properbly not

  • I've used leashes on cats before - it works great only supervised.

  • Nom Nom Om Nomie Nom Om Nom.

  • i swear this is really cute who cares about the leach thing really?

  • Ive walked my cat around a few blocks before, he LOVED IT and he was very young. He grew out of his leash & harness though and we never bought him a bigger one.

  • heehee cuuute :p

  • The owner's comment on this clip ("View the original here" - on the right) : "Margarita LOVES going outside. To keep her safe I got her used to going out on a leash when she was a baby....she took to it just like that and now begs to go outside on the leash. She also loves when it snows, so I take her outside to "catch" snowflakes. (She does this exact same thing with catnip bubbles) =)"

  • Cats are very impulsive, and can become easily frightened, disoriented, and lost. Yes, they have keen senses of direction and scent, and as such many cats travel outdoors over great distances and can find their ways home. However in the snow or rain this is much more difficult, and so having them on a leash when outdoors isn't that horrible an offense imo.

That is, AS LONG as they don't leave them outside in the snow overnight. Cats thrive in warm temperatures.

  • @chisaiinezumi

Yes, exactly! and then when cats get hit by cars, their owners are sad, and sometimes angry at the driver. It's the owners fault for letting the cat roam loose, I say. I believe leashes are a good way to keep cats safe and out of trouble :)

It does look strange, but he clearly isn't bothered to much by it.

  • Love it!!!! What a cool cat!!! He's clearly having a ball!

This cat looks well cared for. I'll admit the leash looks awful. But it gives the cat a safe way to be outdoors. I just hope he was only outside for a short time.

  • this catch is only life garfield (both catches snowflakes) , but this kitteh is skinnier ^^

  • leashing a cat OLOL its not a fucking dog man gosh!

  • wtf, leashing the cat out in the cold haha, do u have pet bears you are trying to feed ?

  • NOM NOM NOM

  • I put my cats on a leashes when we travel but I think a harness is necessary for a cat. Otherwise I don't see the big deal some people are making over this xD The cat is obviously used to it and in no danger.

  • Is it me, or does that cat seem like its chained up? :S

  • lol cute

  • I WUZ FROZIN 2DAY!!

  • Comment removed

  • It looke like either a bengal or a samali.... still... cute!

  • SO CUTE!!!!!

  • Cute Kitteh! :D

  • lol kitteh likey snowflakey

  • awesome video the cat was so cute!

  • OM NOM NOM!!!

  • Leashes on cats aren't bad if used with common sense and watched because they can become prey very easily.. but make sure to use a harness not a collar to avoid cat from getting strangled and what not.. I hope people don't see this and put their cats out like this w/o using common sense.. this cat clearly was happy though.

  • @gotokitty cats dont belong on leashes. period. it's not a fucking dog-

  • nice video xd, but i dont like that leash, im not telling that is cruel or something else, but i think it's not necesary on a cat, cats can easily go home without get lost.

(Sorry for my bad english xD, i hope you understand this xd)

  • @samblero cats can also just run away and NOT come home....happens all the time....and believe it or not...they CAN get lost...

  • but i think is a risk better than a dog that found your cat with a leash .-. and your cat can do what he wants (maybe looks for some cute kitteh? he cant with a leash xD )

  • My cats are allowed to roam free in our woods, but letting them roam comes with many dangers. One goes out of its way to attack dogs. That same one got shot with metal BB's 7 yrs ago and cost us $700 in vet bills. He still carries all those BB's today, over a dozen. He also gets round worms from eating furry animals. We still let them roam and understand what can happen. If we didn't live in the woods I certainly would only take them out on a leash. I feel its unfair to have a indoor cat.

  • It's proven fact that outdoor cats have shorter lifespans than indoor cats and are more inclined to disease and illness. My cat got skin cancer from too much sun. Another cat got hit by a car and I live in a quiet street.I used to have nothing but outdoor cats but there's nothing unfair about having an indoor cat. My new cats live inside. They're perfectly healthy and happy and most importantly, safe. Cats aren't "wild", they're domesticated animals, they don't need to be outside.

  • My cats have the option of staying inside vs. going out. We don't force them outside. One is obese and is mainly indoor -.- the other was the one that was shot and at 13 yrs old is very fit and active. He lives for outside. I agree with you, indoor is safer (mostly). But I could not live inside my whole life, and can't do that to most my pets/animals I keep. Thats their choice, or mine depending on the animal. Only thing is we make sure everyone is inside at night.....

  • Well usually most of the time if your cat becomes family, it will know not to run off and come home. So yeah really no leash is intended if you've had your cat for a while.

  • @VanillaLightning30

they dissapear for a day and bring back home other strange kittehs, trust me it happened

  • kitteh sez nom nom i likes da snowflakes

  • Just to say, there is nothing wrong with leashing a cat, like really, do you ever say anything about leashing a dog? So what is the difference?

  • I love how almost everyone is ignoring the actual purpose of the video, to show that the kitteh is eating snowflakes! lol

It's really cute, and you can obviously tell he/she is a happy cat :3

So if you don't have anything nice to say, just don't say it...^^

  • My cats does tht then she attackes them n get covered in snow :)

  • @Fluffy531 I'm pretty sure they don't really care if you dislike...besides, ever thought that MAYBE perhaps the leash was on the cat for it's own PROTECTION? God I swear some people are just so thick when it comes to basic pet care....

  • I would much rather see someone put a kitty on a leash than just let it wander around outside where it can possibly get killed.

My cats don't like leashes, so they stay indoors. I don't want them getting hit by a car or attacked by wild/stray animals.

  • poor kitteh on leash...

  • What do you mean 'poor kitty'? The person is obviously a responsible pet owner for watching after their cat and putting it on a leash when outside so it doesn't get away and get stolen, run over by a car, go out and starve to death, or overpopulate.

  • Yep I agree! I keep coming back to this page cuz I can't get over the comments some people make. It's sooo strange to me that people would think that a cat on a leash and/or outside is abuse. I mean really. To the people who think that, you should read some of the past comments. The only good points are the ones that are pro leash. This cat is happy and obviously well loved and I can't believe a CUTE cat video is getting all political! Ay Carumba! :)

  • Thanks for agreeing. It's good to know that there are some normal people out there like you, me and the other who are commenting on the same issue.

  • and like someone commented today, at least the majority of the comments are supportive and positive. So there are some levelheaded people in this world. :)

  • @wnderfulworld there are some seriously stupid people who cry animal abuse....geez....

  • I actually am so offended by people (but very happy Cheezburger erased the worst comments) that I'm sending this video to everyone I know, putting it on FB while making it a point that they need to give it five stars and favorite it cuz the poor owner who's getting flack from some dummies obviously loves this cat and is taking good care of i!. I SUGGEST EVERYONE ELSE WHO KNOWS WHAT RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP IS DO THE SAME!! =) Let's educate those that need educating and spread the mssg!

  • @wnderfulworld can we just BEAT some sense into them? I can't believe how damn stupid people are....I hope to God they don't have pets....

  • wow, it seems like some people are totally blind when watching this video! or are they hallucinating that the cat is in pain or that he's not enjoying himself or whatever?

  • Look on the oringial videos description before you make silly comments

  • what do you mean "silly comments"? have you seen what people have said?

  • @pemchem I know what you mean! I got reamed by a user named cherrioattack for saying it's responsible to keep your cat safe on a leash. And the stuff that a few very mean users said to what Katlovr who's a vet wrote. Couldn't believe it! I'm glad that Cheezburger deleted most of the horrible stuff! Do people not understand that this is a channel for cute cat videos & not videos of abused animals?! BTW: My two kids laugh so hard every single time they watch this snowflake vid =)

  • BTW: I'm kind of reading altf4gamesstudio's comment as agreeing with you and talking to everyone else that wants to make a bad comment. I think they're agreeing that the original video description means this is a cat that's obviously cared for. That's my deduction at least.....

  • oh is Katlover the vet from wisconsin? yeah, i saw the comments too, but there are still many mean comments!

  • Yep that's the one.

I think people just make the mean comments sometime just to get a rise out of people and seek attention. Then there's people who are just plain idiotic and/or rude. Ah well! The good thing is like 99% of the comments on here are good. :)

  • i know, haha that gives me hope for our society =]

  • lolololololololol

  • So I was paging back on the comments here and noticed that all the judgmental and rude comments here have been deleted. The user names of the people that made all the bad and abusive remarks are still there, but not their comments. A BIG THUMBS UP to Cheezburger!!!! How awesome!

  • be careful with that leash. we put one on our cat once and he ended up wrapping around wood and started choking. we had to run out and help him(never put him on a leash anymore)

  • i want to take me cat outdoors i think he might enjoy it but maybe he will get used to it and i dont think if i can take him out everyday...makes me wonder...

  • LMFAO its going for a walk :D

  • :-(((( this cat is attached??

  • y it on leash?

  • LOL! I take my baby out for walks. He loves the snow. He does not mind being on a leash. We walk about 1/3 a mile sometimes. It is not abuse if the cat enjoys it. My kitty sees the leash and gets excited. I live about 500 yards away from the interstate. There is no other way for him to see the world. The cat here is not cold, shivering of fear, or trying to get free. He/ she evid. likes it.

  • I didn't read the bad comments as stupid people annoy the crap out of me. I get the gist, some ignorant fool rained on everybodys parade. I have worked with animal rescue groups for years, some won't even adopt to you if they hear the cat will be an outdoor cat. I pray this lucky kitty lives a long spoiled life with his loving mommy and to the party that alleged abuse on her part I say "shut up and know your role, get a clue and may God enlighten you on how to treat all his creatures.

  • hahahaa

  • What kind of cat is that

  • Comment removed

  • It really amazes me how judgmental & nitpicky people are The owner didn't say she speaks English. I think everyone knows what begging means when it comes to an animal. I'm sure that cat either meows & goes to the door, scratches at the door or something. She sure looks like she's happy to be out there to me. This is a funny animal channel & every video you go to the comments sections is full of negativity and cries of animal abuse. It's ridiculous.

  • I also read somewhere on here that the Oregon Humane Society is entering this video into a cute pet contest and it'll be on their youtube channel too. I think that says a lot....don't think they'd enter the victim of animal cruelty into a cute pet contest.....

  • @wnderfulworld - you can't explain it to an attention-seeking idiot he really considers himself clever!

  • @spotbelly

    Thanks =)

  • you obviously dont have a cat.

  • I have 2, actually. You obviously haven't watched any of my videos.

  • @42LightYears where you born a smartass? You know damn well what it means for an animal to beg....meowing, running to the door, playing with the leash....don't be some fucking stupid....

  • the pics cute lol

  • Cute :)

  • i would suggest using a leash halter rather than leashing your cat by the collar. cats aren't like dogs and the amount of force on their neck from pulling on the leash can result in injury.

  • I had to watch this with my kids about 15 times and they laughed just as hard (if not harder) each time. my 11 year old called her ARCTIC KITTEH!! My 4 yr old thinks that bcause we have snow where we live and there's snow in the video that you must live by us and she wants to visit (as she pronounces it ) SMOWFWAKE KITTEH! Kids and animals, aren't they the best for laughs?!

  • cute

  • cute

  • I had a cat that was absolutely the best cat ever. Unfortunately, he liked to hang out near the neighbor's bird feeder. So one day, the neighbor poisoned him, and he died. I agree its a little "unnatural" to see a cat on a leash or chain, but it is not "stupid" or "cruel." The cat may not have been out there that long, the cat may have had shelter, and... the cat did not look malnurished or overexposed.

  • @maggiemay42 You're dumb if you take your pet (God forbid you have one) and NOT have them on a leash...they can run away, get hit by a car, get into something dangerous....but hey...you're only 17....you have a lot of growing up to do

  • maybe it wants to be a dog. who are you to stomp on the cats dreams!

  • some cats still like to go outside in crazy weather. yesterday my cat tried running outside in the sleeting rain so we chained her under the deck. that way she has the ability to hide from the rain or go out in it if she wants....some cats are crazy like that. at least mine wanted to come in after 10 minutes. i guess she realized it wasn't the best day to play in the snow....

  • it makes me nervous to leave her out unattended because of all the cars that go by on the streets near my house. i guess it's more of a comfort thing knowing she wont wander into the road that is curvy & covered in ice.

if we are able to stay out with her then we don't chain her. but when its almost 0 degrees outside i like to be indoors. i hate to deny my cat her wants to go out just because i am not in the mood. in the summer we let her wander around on her own....

  • I wrote a couple days ago on this subject. I'm a vetirinarian in Madison, WI. Leashing your cat if it's going to be outside is not only humane, but it's the responsible thing to do.The average roaming outdoor cat's lifespan is 3-6 yrs vs 14+ for indoor cats. 85-90% of the cats I treat for NONroutine maintenance are from being outdoors unattended: Fleas, earmites, worms, injuries from cars, traps, other animals & people, feline aids & leukemia, etc., etc--ALL PREVENTABLE. (continued)

  • (Part 2) Not to mention the cat nuisance problems on other people's property and the rising feral cat population. People might not be used to seeing it, but cats do extremely well on a leash (not a chain) staked in a yard. They can enjoy the outdoors while being protected by their owner. Many cats also love playing in the snow and rain. The cat in this video obviously loves it. If she wasn't comfortable on the leash either she'd be thrashing about to try to get out of it.

  • (Part 3) More and more cities are adopting ordinances/laws to prevent cats from running at large. My city of Madison has one. The American Veterinary Medical Association also has a recommended cat control ordinance that staunchly supports that no cat run at large.

Once again, Kudos to you Juleszigan for being a caring and extremely responsible pet owner. You are a model for many!!!

  • @katlofr

Whatever that cheerio person says, you clearly know what you're talking about. Thank you for spreading the word! Personally, I'm sick of seeing miserable feral cats because the woman who lives nearby tosses UNFIXED cats into her barns. My mother found a kitten one year nestled under the hood of her car. One inch over, and it could have been seriously injured when she turned it on—probably killed, to be honest. It's SO important to keep your cats under supervision like this!

  • 42LightYears, the user you're arguing with has every right to be nervous about their cat's safety. :/ We used to let our cats out unattended, and my baby Axel was found dead by our mail box last Christmas Eve, had been hit by a car. Terrible time to lose a pet. Stupid has nothing to do with it; cats aren't stupid but human drivers are. We now keep our current cat Stark on a leash when he's outside to prevent a tragedy like that one for occurring again, and there's nothing cruel about it.

  • @42LightYears there's a difference between the situation here. the cat is definately not starved, he looks fat and happy. chaining your cat up temporarily is an ok thing as long as you obviously arent leaving him on the chain for extended periods of time. how do you know the owner of this said cat chained him only to let him be outside without the worry of having him run away? he probably unchained the cat and brought him back in after. some people worry more about their indoor cat running away

  • this is true...

  • Retard, the cat is fine.

Kinda silly to leash a cat...but cat have no problems with a little snow.

  • Well, if you let your cats roam like wild animals. Then don't cry when they get shot, poisoned, run over, or eaten.kill neighbors cats by turning off the car headlights, when it came home from work. Then just pulled into the drive way fast. They don't get up in time and WHAM! Toss them in the trash and no more fucking cats sitting on the hood. : )

  • There is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping your cat on a leash while you are supervising it outside - unless you'd rather see your cat run off and experience one of a variety of horribly painful deaths.

  • This is adorable. But who in the hell keeps a CAT on a leash? Wow!

  • I would recomend a halter over a collar but it is a smart and caring cat owner who doesn't let their cat roam. They actually have cat fencing for cat proofing your yard. I wish I could afford it. They do love to be outside but it's way too dangerous. This kitty is adorable eating snowflakes! Nom nom nom!

  • Because anyone with half a brain knows that this is what a responsible pet owner would do. There isn't a vet in the world that recommends your cats roaming free and most recommend leashing them. Cats take really well to leashes. She's keeping the cat safe while letting it enjoy the outdoors, and it's obviously having a ball.

You shouldn't be so quick to judge.

  • It's a known fact that cats that roam freely have a shorter life span, whether it be from feline aids, feline leukemia, getting run over or killed by another animal, getting lost or eating something that kills them. Not to mention the havoc that outdoor cats wreak on neighbor's yards, children's sandlots, etc.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about and you base nothing on fact. You are sorely outnumbered on here by the vast majority of us who are educated & responsible.

  • :) Cats can get in fights with other cats outside and receive infected wounds. Diseases such as Feline AIDS and Distemper can be caught from other cats that may be outside and unvaccinated. Can't also forget irresponsible humans that may be wandering outside or driving.

So in a way...yes...cats that are let outside do have a chance at having a shorter lifespan :)

  • Juleszigan you are an awesome guardian to your cat. Thanks for keeping your cat safe yet letting her enjoy the outdoors and play. I've never seen a cat eating and catching snowflakes like that. The people who are complaining about animal abuse clearly need to get a life. I mean seriously have they never seen a cat outside in every season? . Also I can't tell you how many dead cat's I've seen that have gotten run over. This kitty is very safe and is one happy camper and loves the snow!!

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • Mine LOVE to play in the snow. I let them in my teenie back yard and keep my eyes on them. They just play and romp around the snow, they love it!

  • that is rea
