  • No way there will run 12.3sec stock... Y does motor magazine , wheels magazine n ford them self get low 13sec out of it... All the ones that run low 12sec is with a tune n exhaust....

  • theses figures a after tune.... n a 12.9sec isnt a very good time after tune n for 400+kw....

  • @mushy1983123 That would be without a tune. They have run as low as 12.3 STOCK. With a tune, mid to low 11's. Not bad for a $1500 investment.

  • @adidas441 U obviously don't know any thing about Ford's, They only use leaf on there utes which is way better than coil, cause then u can actually put something other than you lunch box in the tray! and theres abit of a price difference between an m3 and a gt.

  • I am a Ford man, i drive my Fords, i love my Fords and yes i have respect for the Holden product, but unlike a typical Holden fan, i made this decision for myself, not what my mates told me to do.   • @VYSSII You too have compared apples to oranges, this level of power was made from a "FORD" 5.0l with a supercharger, your precious HSV has to use a 7.0l out of a different makes vehicle and a supercharger, hardly comparable. I bet if you slapped one of those gorgeous bow ties on the back it would add a further 15kws too.

  • @mike623030 With that argument, put a 5L normally aspirated Bmw against either of them. The old M5 has 373kw. That being said, ford is a lot better than holden in terms of power per liter of capacity. And a whole lot cheaper than a bmw. :)

  • Ford did a great job on the motor but even so drives well too I test drive a gts and just feel like a waste of money in my eyes ford done great this time and with a tune and good exhaust run mid 11s no problems save u alot off money if u try make a gts run the same times !!!!!

  • Is anyone paying attention to the fact that this power is a moot point. The FG Falcon isn't able to harness the power, so who cares. Until there's a better chassis around that engine, it may as well be the old Boss piece of crap engine.

    The worst part, is that FPV is trying to sell the base model GS for $55k, are they nuts? It rides like crap on its 19" rims, has bad tyre rumble & the interior is pure poverty pack, nor does it have sufficient brakes.

    Maybe next time Ford...

  • Guys, whats going on here, I and many others always was under the impression that any badged car whether it be Ford or Holden quoted flywheel KW not back tyres KW.

    Surely Ford has not released a car the is now producing this much KW , because this means the Nm is also incorrect and then the gearbox will not handle it etc...

    Surely Ford has set this up and tweaked something before handing out the car if not the government and authorities will jump all over it as they did in the 70's

  • As a Holden fan, I am amazed at this car.  About time something put a rocket up Holden. They get complacent quite often - look at the VE2.

    I think I may have been swayed to get one of the GS... Test drive here I come :D

    much testing we were able to take control of this function and force it to operate at

    the desired 100%. FPV have used this function to limit the power output of the 5.0

    lt engine.

  • regardless of what it makes , it goes well and sounds bloody good, its a desireable grand tourer/muscle car, and you`d have to say we are pretty lucky in oz with the cool selection of powerful utes, sedans from ford and holden.

  • not bad for a mid 60grand car.....poor W427 owners....160grand out of pocket for an OMEGA that is only .1 second quicker then this GT 0-100km...and wait till you see this thing pull away from the W427 after the 400m sprint!

  • @VYSSII IS THAT SO? i think ur dreamming, i had a ve gts 6.2 ltr, worst peice of shit ive ever owned!!! when i ran a stock fg xr6 turbo and that was neck and neck with my ve gts, i though wat a shit heap this ve gts is, not 2 mention the electrical probs, thirsty, axle tramping, in a nut shell, rubbish, now i own a FPV F6, its the best move ive ever did, the F6 is a total animal and a total package, and yes i was a massive holden fan until the VE series came out, top job ford, keep it up :)

  • @meonxtc - Mine had a standard rear end, aircon, full weight - (minus the spare).

    But yes.. I would hope a car built in 2010 was a little more high-tech than a 1986 commodore. At the end of the day 500hp should leave black lines on the highway at 100km/h - sometimes traction control takes the fun out of driving a fast car.

    500hp in my old VL - 10.01 seconds at 134mph.

  • apparetley it lit the rears up on the wheels mag test car at 95kmph on the kick down change to second gear while auto was in performance mode on dry road, so it must have some punch. i got an fg6t and wld really like to drive this coyote. just wish ford wld spend some dosh on good suspension, dont get me wrong its comfy and easy to drift, but wld not keep with an r8 round a track, to much oversteer, they just love steppin sideways.

  • Good result for a factory stock vehicle, a little tuning here an there and a few other little tricks n this model of car should be quite the thing.

  • this car reakky has all the goods. Great power and torque delivery, great sound to! Cant wait to see what the next updated gt will be like with wider rear tires and a bit stiffer suspension set up. The boss is back baby!

  • Good old fFord bringing back the old days. Demolishing Holden and severely under quoting power figures. They said the xy gtho had 270hp, in reality 320hp xD

  • @BAXTSPRCHRGD We're stoked with Ford's efforts! Holden fans will have to face a two-pronged attack soon enough with new cars like this and the 6-7 year old XR6T models getting into the hands of hard core racers who turn them into 8-10 second weapons.

  • @BAXTSPRCHRGD your mistaken mate RE:WIKIPEDIA1971 XY GT-HO Phase III produced an estimated 385 brake horsepower (287 kW), although Fords official figures for this motor were much lower , mate i was around in those days the stock XYGT was 300 hp the ph 3 was much more.

  • if that is correct saying it has 469 rwhp that normally equalls a loss of 100 hp to the rears so that has 569 hp at the engine translate into kw is 420 kw rather than 335, it probably has that but ford has given a test car to use so they have obviously boosted it up , the normal ones probably will have more hp than is claimed but i think that figure is a bit extreme , we'll find out when we see more on the dyno

  • @SouthSwans actually we think it might be because of the way it is tied down. See the article in a forthcoming Street Fords issue for a full explanation why Gerry's dyno reported a slightly higher figure.

  • @LimitsExist 'Area under the curve', launch, setup etc. It's also just under 2000kg with a solidly built driver on board.

  • @Rollinfourlitre yer a xr6t is around 1900kg with driver....most ppl i know have pulled 11's with almost stock suspension setup...just lowered springs..i do think this beast has potential though maybe a little tune could push it into the 11's easily

  • @LimitsExist 12.9sec at 113.9mph actually, and it is the mph figure that is indicative of power. With the weight of the vehicle and driver, the mph on the Moroso slide rule indicates a flywheel horsepower figure of around 510-515hp

  • @ido09s 113.99mph. Vehicle weighs 1822kg and driver weighs 120kg. That is around 4300lb.

  • After these get sold to a few people, they get run in and launches etc get perfected, the ZF versions will be low 12's and maybe even an 11 second car! Performance to match my modified BFII XR6T on the 1/4, but with factory warranty.
