  • whoever asked if u can visit the field yes u can its just a normal road out in the country

  • I live here.

  • In the early 80's I went to the Surf Ballroom when I traveled across the country. (I was in the Navy, switching bases)

I told the person at the door that I was a BIG Buddy fan and they let me in and gave me a tour of the Surf! That was VERY cool! To the Staff of the Surf, again, many thanks!!

  • It's on my bucketlist to go to the Surf Ballroom one of these Febuarys and attend the Winter Dance Party Tribute...

  • Oh, god, I would be haunted forever if the last thing I said to my best friend before he died was I hope your plane crashes :(

    RIP

  • Yes...the plane was en route to Fargo. It took off from the Mason City, Iowa, airport and crashed just a few miles away...north of Clear Lake.

  • He was so young. I wasn't even born when this tragedy happened.

  • Ritchie called heads

  • he gave more than any one elst the stone beatles nash and the hollies elvis costello springsteen linda ronstad

  • This is all true, Buddy Holly was a ledgend, and also Ritchie was to, the Big Bopper was just amazing. we miss you guy`s.

  • March 3, 1958, Southampton, UK - the best concert ever. I yelled out, "Words of Love!" - he looked up (we were in the cheap seats - and said, "We don't have that one ready yet."

  • @purbrookian How old were you at the time?

  • Buddy is not only a great singer..a great songwriter..and great guitarist...he has he reason why he is still remember...His song influence by eveyrone..He is the 1st one to play stratoscaster..The guitar, bass and drummer become the trademark of R&R ..He inspire too by other artists that it's okey to wear eyeglass..like John Lennon & Elton John. His trademark and his personality..Giving time for sure he is next standing to Elvis..Elvis is the King but Buddy is the FATHER of Rock& Roll..Legend !!

  • Buddy, Ritchie and The Big Bopper are still the greatest rockers from the fifties.

John Mueller is the reincarnation of Buddy Holly. His Winter Dance Party show is the best rock and roll show ever made.

  • In 1989 The Crickets played with Bobby Vee at the historic Fargo Theatre in downtown Fargo, ND exactly 30 years after that fateful night. I was the only one who photographed (slide film) the entire concert. Holly and the other performers were supposed to play at the Moorhead Armory (now torn down) in Moorhead, MN, which is across the river from Fargo. I traveled with The Crickets on their tour with the opening band "The Kit Grove All Stars" running lights and sound. What an honor it was.

  • don't for get there was a mexican who was 17 years old ritchie valens also who went with them

  • Buddy was THE ONE. He is the single greatest influence on rock n roll to this day. BUDDY HOLLY LIVES! on and on..... innovator - skilled songwriter - amazing guitarist and singer.

  • ...yes sir!

  • Buddy holly. The greatest.

  • It is sad that KRTH in Los Angeles does not play this music anymore

  • The original Buddy Holly version of That'll be the Day featured Larry Welborn a child hood friend and one of the first players with Buddy.

Also not mentioned here a guy named Bob Montgomery who was the first person ever to play with Holly.
