yea i dont see paying that kind of money for a shotgun with two shots and some furniture. a maverick 88 isnt the nicest shotgun out there by far but you could buy 3 for that price, and itll still get the job done.
@Tardisius Looking at a taclight at night is disorientating which makes it difficult to fire at. Lock yourself in a pitch black room and stare at one you will see.
Okay, this is the dumbest self-defense gun I've seen. Reliable? Yes. Easy to use? Yes. But only having two shells severely limits its capabilities, especially in a high-stress self defense situation where the possibilities of a missed or non-fatal first shot are pretty high. I'm sticking with my pump guns - doubles need to be left for hunting and trapshooting, where they belong. Besides, double guns don't need to be violated with all this 'tactical' Call of Duty bullshit just to 'be cool'. =\
I totally just realized..WHY IN THE HELL HAVEN'T THEY MADE A DOUBLE BARREL PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN? WHY? End capslock. But seriously, that would be awesome.
@WeeItsNookies the Keltec KSG is badass but yeah I want a 12 that can fire both barrels simultaneously. I can handle the recoil, I just want my target to vaporize on queue.
@WeeItsNookies Twice as heavy. If you need a los of stopping power and you can handle the recoil, you can get a 3 1/2 inch round shooting shotgun. That will obliterate your target (and your shoulder)
A pump shotgun is superior to a coach gun. The pump is lighter, holds more ammo and if a burglar hears you racking the slide he will run like Hell thereby saving you legal hassles and ammunition.
That is $469 for a gun that is too short for duck hunting, fixed choke so it will not be good for deer hunting, two round capacity so it is awful for home defense, and too ugly to show in public. This just crossed the line into the land of complete uselessness.
@whydoitry12 I agree 100%! One trigger double barrel? Hit them, ther're dead! Miss them, you're dead! Why not have a short barrel pump 5 rds? I personally use low brass in my home defense shotguns. Usually #4 buck. That way I don't shoot through walls and harm others. Alot of people read the sites and think they need police rounds for deep penetration. My personal belief is that even low brass 7 shot to the face, from my couch to the door, the intruder won't want to come any further
1 trigger doesn't equal both barrels firing at once. the trigger is reset after the first shot, then you're ready for the next. Odds of getting more than 2 shots off is slim anyway. Coach guns have been used for home defense for quite some time now.
Good looking gun. I own a 20 gauge Stoeger coach gun and I like it they're simple and reliable. BUT, When it comes to defending the ole homestead I'll take a Mossberg 500. Put on a Blackhawk Spec Ops recoil reducing stock and some ghost ring sights, you'll be ready for any uninvited zombie that comes in your door.
I wouldn't mind having one. Especially if it was like some of the older double barrels that allowed for two shots at once. Also speed loading for it is pretty fast once you practice. After you run out of shots for a regular tube fed pump/auto, loading gets to be pretty slow. Really though for that price you could get a Saiga and call it a day.
Almost $500 (factoring tax) for a $200 sxs with a couple rails on it? Total fricking rip-off. I'm sure plenty of people with more money than sense- ie, idiots- were lining up for them. Someone should tell them about the Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 before they waste their money on one of these. PS It's not "unique" to arbitrarily put rails on any gun, and it's CERTAINLY not unique to over-price a new gun. Thanks for reminding me of the NRA's below-average IQ (GOA Life member).
Once again we hear from all the arm-chair quarterbacks on how the old double-barrel is a piece of crap and totally worthless...as if a semi-auto with drum fed magazine would be the only way this crowd would be able to survive. Shot placement and practice are the keys. Before you jump on that keyboard, find me one pro level shooter that says otherwise, then we can have a serious talk.
@mds19238 Show me a 3-gun competitor who uses one of these, and we can have a serious talk. There's a reason 6+ capacity, SEMI-AUTO shotguns (with a minimum of rails) are used by competitive professionals. And police. And military. And any of the thousands of others who've bought the reasonably-priced, superior Remington or Mossberg pump shotguns.
I kinda like the way it looks because its old school, if I need so HD shotguns I have a 7+1 mossy 500 for that, but thing thing would be fun, much faster reload then a mossy 500 anyway haha
Sorry, but it makes no sense for this weapon. You have 2 and only 2 barrels before you're ineffective and have to break it open to reload. Shotguns don't exactly speed reload, either. And please people, don't come out of the woodwork screaming "A real pro wouldn't need more than 2....." Gimme a break and be realistic.
TactiFAIL..... this is basically like mounting Rails and an ACOG scope on a musket. Its not like its gonna be accurate enough for a scope of any kind, and what are you gonna mount on the Rails? a laser to blind the enemy? FAIL.
It may look all ooh and aah but it doesn't change the fact that side by side shotguns are old technology. I like my shotguns ready to shoot any type of round, buckshot, birdshot, slugs, even non lethals. With side by sides neither round will hit dead center in the sights, and you have to adjust accordingly, making anything besides point blank range inaccurate. Hence, it's a 'defense' shotgun. I like to imagine little old ladys using this, with mounted laser and tac light.
In some countries there are legal reasons for choosing such a weapon for self defence. In Austria for example double barrels are the best weapons for self defence you can buy withou registration. Until june 2012.. so a lot of people are buying them right now over here!
double barrels are awesome. who cares if it's not a pump or semi? it still gets the job done and on top of that, they're a classic. also, people will have their preferences. no need to hate on personal opinion and preferences unless it's just plain stupid like saying that taking drugs will make you cool
@ShadeSlayer1911: That's totally not the point here. The point is that it's a HOME DEFENSE shotgun with two rounds, and it's a break-barrel so it takes time to reload. That's as bad an idea as carrying around a one shot cap and ball derringer as your everyday defense carry.
@PooPoo2U if your enemy is not dead in two shots with a buckshot, then shame on you. You really don't need anything fancy for home defense cuz really, home defense typically involves one or few armed burglars breaking in expecting an easy picking. pull out that shotgun, pump or double barreled, does not matter, the first shot will scare the shit out of them if it doesn't kill one or more. if you need anything more than a double barreled for HOME defense, then you got drugs or something
@ShadeSlayer1911: This shotgun is about the furthest thing from a good idea that you can get. Other than the break-barrel action and the two-shot capacity, it has another problem: home defense usually occurs INSIDE the home, and this shotgun would be extremely unwieldy indoors.
A handgun loaded with bird shot would even be more effective!
@PooPoo2U drugs or something worth a lot that the burglars want to really get their hands on. Home defense refers to the typical everyday home owner who doesn't have a high profile to make them a high target. It's the same thing as saying that anyone with security cameras throughout their house must have some reason for adding that extra security. don't get me wrong. I would prefer a pump to a double barrel, but theres nothing wrong with the double barrel for home defense.
Cute gun! The flash light will come in handy after you shoot that second shell. Maybe you can use the light to blind the suspect during the home invasion. Get a MossBerg 500 and let the first shot be your flash light!
@BlackLaw2020 Just remember that in some countries (such as Australia), the great majority of shooters can't get pump-action shotguns. A good double or lever action is the only choice if you want a handy shotgun...
@TheFirearmEnthusiast while a very valid point, it appears this was marketed in america. Double barrel is often used for trap and hunting, and more of a novelty in terms of home defense (12g is 12g, but why only 2 when you can have 5+1). The consumer who bought this wont "fit in" with the other shotguns at the skeet club because it has rails and likely a red dot, while the home defence buff with an 870 will have 5+1 capacity.
Forgive my opinion, but its usually the 1st shot that counts and you get lucky on the 2nd shot...that's the urban setting of a gun fight. Few days ago, a mother protecting her infant killed an intruder with a similar shotgun.
double barrel guns are not tactical. they do not reload as easily as semi autos or pumps and they only hold two rounds. that may be plenty if there are only 1-2 intruders but what if there are more from different directions? what then? stop and reload your double barrel? no thanks. double barrels are only good for intimidation in a confrontation. and i bet its pricy because of all the tacticool shit on it and not to mention you're paying for the work and materials that go into making two barrels
I got the 20gague and it don't matter if 3 or 4 guys break in the spread will get them and if you worried get an ammo sleeve for the stock like I did problem solved
wats with all these stupid fucks not thinking that 2 rounds is not enough for a 12 gauge. if the threat takes 2 rounds of fucking buck shot to the torso, and is still a threat, you have bigger problems.
This gun better be under $150. I'm just saying, 2 shot weapon is not very tactical. Two people are bought-and-paid-for, but the 3rd and 4th guy will get your ass.
Overly defensive eh? You started up with me motherfucker! Again, where's the proof that having "A WEAPON" unloaded or not, will deter most attackers? I'm done with your stupid ass.
@pveg65 Trust me, that's not going to work. I sharpened the end of an oar, mounted a 1913 rail to it, and put an Eotech on the rail. I aimed at a duck and let'er rip. The duck flew away before my hybrid oar/spear got to it, and the Eotech broke. It's just won't work, believe me.
@pveg65 If you guys think this is BAD go check out the Mossberg "tactical repeater". I swear to God, only something Mossberg would do. It is literally a Winchester style repeating rifle with fucking tactical rails on it. LOL
Tell me, what are you going to do with only 2 rounds? And if one were to spend a few hundred dollars on a side by side, why not just spend that on a maverick, 500, or remmy 870?
i guess theres at least no chance it will fail. even with a pump theres a chance youll get one of those shells that just hangs by the rim to the edge of the chamber. but idk if its worth only having 2 rounds
I just don't see the sense in limiting yourself to two rounds (especially for home defense) when there are so many options out there around the same price that hold much more ammo. My Mossberg 590A1 holds 9 rounds. Now don't get me wrong, a side by side looks badassed as anything, but home defense is not the place to be playing "Show and tell". My money goes to the higher capacity choices.
@MThrow The beauty of this weapon (I owned one for some time) is the KISS factor. This is really just not much you can do to screw up using it. You can easily teach family members to safely operate it in as little time as possible. I agree with limiting yourself to two rounds is dangerous but for the non experienced family member in a home defense situation this is a perfect weapon. Doesnt mean us experienced gunners wont reach for our 870's and 590's firts though.
@cgspeeddemon1 They are not bad, Im a Remington fan myself but Ive owned a mossy 500 and it went bang when you pulled the trigger which is what counts. Parts were pretty cheap and easy to replace to.
I'm sorry but side by side double barrel shotguns are not nearly as good as over and under double barrels when it comes to home defense. I mean if you can't aim worth shit then yeah get a side by side. However the human body is vertical. Over and unders can be double tapped or fired simutanously and as long as you are aiming at the person then its going to pelt one round in the groin/stomach and another in the chest/head.
@Zipito06 Point of impact is not going to be that different. And most modern double barrels have a single trigger, so you won't be able to shoot them simultaneously.
Whatever happened to the good ol' days when the Double Barrel was just a simple as a twin barreled break action shotgun with a sight that never got adjusted, a nice maple stock, loaded with point and shoot bad-guy seeking shot? The only optional modifications a weapon of this caliber should have is the ability to saw the barrel length down in which to carry two at once and dive on tables or some other rad 90's shit... Yeah.. that's fucking sweet.
Talk your shit if you want but at the end of scarface when he had the Ar-15 wit the m203 grenade launcher what took him out that's rite a DB shotgun .......I also believe it was Omar's weapon of choice on the wire
For Canada with the dumbest defense laws, this is the perfect gun to articulate home defense. Heavy bird shot, and one trigger. Let fly, and your lawyer will do the rest :) Ask any professional LEO why this is the best gun for home defense in Canada (not the usa, they have normal laws) and they will tell you.
Is he trying to show how pointless all these tacti-cool accessories are, how they won't REALLY make a firearm any better. How a Double-shotgun is STILL a double shotgun even with all this crap.
"how much?" _ "$469"
There you go. A $200 pump-action (and another for your ally) would be money better spent.
Simple easy to use defense gun! Very intimidating if your on the receiving end! Package that with some Shotgun Chamber adapters buy Short Lane Arms and you have a very versatile survival gun
I liked my Stoeger 12g 20" Nickle Plated Coachgun well enough. It's not great build quality and I thought it was a bit over priced but for SASS it was spot on. I can't figure out why they cost so much. You can get a proper shotgun for the same money that doesn't look like it was built by day labor. But there are not many coachguns to choose from that conform to the SASS regs.
@keester81 i'll agree that this one is kind of a steam punk gimick, but as for the pump vs. SxS argument, some folks just prefer simplicity - the SxS earned the nickname "Old Standby" in its home defense role over 100 years ago, I'd feel plenty protected even without a long tube pump gun
@cultofjimjones You may only have 2 rounds, but the design is bomb proof. How often does a double barrel 12 gauge misfeed, fail to eject or jam in general? That's what I thought...
@keester81 most people arent going to let off 6 rounds of shotgun into there house. one or two good shots should take care of your problem. unless your a completely shitty shot then your fucked.but yah might as well have more rounds just in case. but in most situations your not going to shoot more than twice.
@AfrikaaBombeetza Really tough over the internet huh? I like how your comment didnt make ANY sense whatsoever. i was talking about home invasion or a situation where a gun would be used. come call me a faggot in "my country" and we'll see what happens. your high level of stupidity and ignorance is amazing. now reply back and try to flame me because you have nothing else to do but talk shit on the internet, which you would NEVER say to someones face in real life because your a pussy. goodbye.
@oreowithmilk1 actually, i bet im twice your size, and yeah im fucking talking about a situation like a home invasion, u guys just shoot first and ask questions later, most of the time people that break into houses are UNARMED U FUCKING FAGGOT GO LUBE UP YOUR SHOTGUN AND HAVE SEX WITH IT YOU FUCKING AMERICAN
@AfrikaaBombeetza I am not an American but what could possibly go wrong when an "unarmed" person breaks into your house with a machete and started to go on a rampage when your only child accidentally wakes up, startle the guy and he starts to slit the child's throat and fatally stabs your wife 34 times, then escapes through the window with a trail of blood behind him? Yeah, you think it's unlikely that someone would invade your home with only two fists, then you're wrong :\

@BlackLaw2020 Not all countries allow their subjects to own a Mossberg 500.
TheFirearmEnthusiast 1 month ago 15
@TheFirearmEnthusiast while a very valid point, it appears this was marketed in america. Double barrel is often used for trap and hunting, and more of a novelty in terms of home defense (12g is 12g, but why only 2 when you can have 5+1). The consumer who bought this wont "fit in" with the other shotguns at the skeet club because it has rails and likely a red dot, while the home defence buff with an 870 will have 5+1 capacity.
Saigax12 1 month ago
@TheFirearmEnthusiast I like how you used the proper word for "citizens" in countrys where you're not aloud to own a gun. Subjects.

@RottSimba hey a lever action is a good defense gun it was the assault rifle of it's day
lilblitz 1 month ago
Forgive my opinion, but its usually the 1st shot that counts and you get lucky on the 2nd shot...that's the urban setting of a gun fight. Few days ago, a mother protecting her infant killed an intruder with a similar shotgun.
dslayer911 1 month ago
double barrel guns are not tactical. they do not reload as easily as semi autos or pumps and they only hold two rounds. that may be plenty if there are only 1-2 intruders but what if there are more from different directions? what then? stop and reload your double barrel? no thanks. double barrels are only good for intimidation in a confrontation. and i bet its pricy because of all the tacticool shit on it and not to mention you're paying for the work and materials that go into making two barrels
pootinhammer 1 month ago
I got the 20gague and it don't matter if 3 or 4 guys break in the spread will get them and if you worried get an ammo sleeve for the stock like I did problem solved

Double Barrels aren't Good for Self-Defense cause you don't have enough ammo. They're
Better for hunting
Klainapeda 1 month ago
wats with all these stupid fucks not thinking that 2 rounds is not enough for a 12 gauge. if the threat takes 2 rounds of fucking buck shot to the torso, and is still a threat, you have bigger problems.

@motlencore89 in a scary situation ones accuracy and for someone whos never shot at someone, the chances of missing are someone are substantial
verzama 1 month ago
This gun better be under $150. I'm just saying, 2 shot weapon is not very tactical. Two people are bought-and-paid-for, but the 3rd and 4th guy will get your ass.
Vernonu9 1 month ago
Overly defensive eh? You started up with me motherfucker! Again, where's the proof that having "A WEAPON" unloaded or not, will deter most attackers? I'm done with your stupid ass.

@pveg65 Trust me, that's not going to work. I sharpened the end of an oar, mounted a 1913 rail to it, and put an Eotech on the rail. I aimed at a duck and let'er rip. The duck flew away before my hybrid oar/spear got to it, and the Eotech broke. It's just won't work, believe me.
slt223 1 month ago
@pveg65 If you guys think this is BAD go check out the Mossberg "tactical repeater". I swear to God, only something Mossberg would do. It is literally a Winchester style repeating rifle with fucking tactical rails on it. LOL

MThrow 2 months ago
@MThrow The beauty of this weapon (I owned one for some time) is the KISS factor. This is really just not much you can do to screw up using it. You can easily teach family members to safely operate it in as little time as possible. I agree with limiting yourself to two rounds is dangerous but for the non experienced family member in a home defense situation this is a perfect weapon. Doesnt mean us experienced gunners wont reach for our 870's and 590's firts though.

@theduke256 what about the 500A's?
cgspeeddemon1 2 months ago in playlist boom
@cgspeeddemon1 They are not bad, Im a Remington fan myself but Ive owned a mossy 500 and it went bang when you pulled the trigger which is what counts. Parts were pretty cheap and easy to replace to.
theduke256 2 months ago
I'm sorry but side by side double barrel shotguns are not nearly as good as over and under double barrels when it comes to home defense. I mean if you can't aim worth shit then yeah get a side by side. However the human body is vertical. Over and unders can be double tapped or fired simutanously and as long as you are aiming at the person then its going to pelt one round in the groin/stomach and another in the chest/head.
Zipito06 2 months ago
@Zipito06 Point of impact is not going to be that different. And most modern double barrels have a single trigger, so you won't be able to shoot them simultaneously.
Mr13born79 2 months ago
Whatever happened to the good ol' days when the Double Barrel was just a simple as a twin barreled break action shotgun with a sight that never got adjusted, a nice maple stock, loaded with point and shoot bad-guy seeking shot? The only optional modifications a weapon of this caliber should have is the ability to saw the barrel length down in which to carry two at once and dive on tables or some other rad 90's shit... Yeah.. that's fucking sweet.

For Canada with the dumbest defense laws, this is the perfect gun to articulate home defense. Heavy bird shot, and one trigger. Let fly, and your lawyer will do the rest :) Ask any professional LEO why this is the best gun for home defense in Canada (not the usa, they have normal laws) and they will tell you.
zulu547 2 months ago
Is this guy trolling?
Is he trying to show how pointless all these tacti-cool accessories are, how they won't REALLY make a firearm any better. How a Double-shotgun is STILL a double shotgun even with all this crap.
"how much?" _ "$469"
There you go. A $200 pump-action (and another for your ally) would be money better spent.

Still a fine-lookin' Coach gun, though.
KoronofHearts 3 months ago
@cultofjimjones You may only have 2 rounds, but the design is bomb proof. How often does a double barrel 12 gauge misfeed, fail to eject or jam in general? That's what I thought...

This design is absurd...who would choose this when they could get a pump action with at least 6 rounds or the Kel Tec KSG?
keester81 3 months ago
@keester81 most people arent going to let off 6 rounds of shotgun into there house. one or two good shots should take care of your problem. unless your a completely shitty shot then your fucked.but yah might as well have more rounds just in case. but in most situations your not going to shoot more than twice.

AfrikaaBombeetza 3 months ago
@AfrikaaBombeetza I am not an American but what could possibly go wrong when an "unarmed" person breaks into your house with a machete and started to go on a rampage when your only child accidentally wakes up, startle the guy and he starts to slit the child's throat and fatally stabs your wife 34 times, then escapes through the window with a trail of blood behind him? Yeah, you think it's unlikely that someone would invade your home with only two fists, then you're wrong :\
